Hi Judy ! you should be very proud that Punggol has developed so well and there's more facilities to be ready in the next few years. The clean canals there made me tell Ghib it's a bit like Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Venice. You really put a smile on my face

Was wondering when you would come by Maruhachi, lol. Love their kurobuta katsu and oysters! The kurobuta used to be sold out by 12-1pm at the Punggol outlet when they first opened, and I have been disappointed a few times when I reached the stall and saw the sold out sign🥲 Really have to eat the kurobuta freshly fried on the spot, crisp and soooooo meaty, oishi! They have another outlet at Havelock Rd now too!

@@Wolfedge75 The kurobuta is less likely to be sold out now that they've opened two other outlets. I managed to get the kurobuta set a few times after 1pm lately 😁 Weekdays tho, I don't know abt weekends 😅 Oh but even if the kurobuta is sold out, the normal pork and oyster katsu are usually still avail and they're worth trying too!

Ghib, congrats on discovering the secret Tonkatsu stall, Maruhachi. You went at the right time,when the queue have not formed. You liked the pork, wait till you taste the oysters Jimmy. Philip and I go for our weekly fix, having to wait at least 30 min for our food. Now that you have shown the whole world our secret stall, the wait is expected to grow. 🤦🏻‍♀️. It was really exciting meeting you , Ghib and Jimmy at NorthShore Plaza!

Hello Evelyn Goh and Philip ! It was a great pleasure to meet both of you recently at North Shore Plaza when Ghib was filming there. Can't wait to try the MARUHACHI's OYSTERS that you highly recommended. Perhaps Sundays will be super crowded.

I used to work with August in Japan many years ago! SO glad to see them doing so well!! Ive now booked my flight from Australia just to try this Katsu!! April Singapore here we come!!

Used to be very long queue and even missed their food twice due to sold out. Now is like no queue and you can go anytime. Well food standard has dropped since and most of the time is not the owner who was manning the store and you can taste the difference. For that price, it is expected to be as good as it was in the initial days.

Great area, Ponggol. Congrats Jimmy to go all the way. I usually take the long route from PIE, turning left into Serangoon Road at St Andrew's School junction. It's one of the main arterial roads of old Singapore. A 15-minute drive takes me to where you are, passing the old Bidadari Cemetery [now residential], Hillside Drive, a porridge place, a nasi-lemak restaurant, a crematorium and the famous Serangoon English School. The Ponggol destination is a restful and quiet area. Compass Point is nice to shop at. You guys know the rest.

Tried Maruhachi before at their new outlet. It's indeed good. It's restaurant-quality food at a food court price! Considered a good deal since it's cheaper than dining at restaurants.

Wow Punggol had change so much, the last time I been there was in 70s, they had just 2 single narrow road to the end of Punggol... Both of you really makes me hungry watching you gobble down those wonderful Japanese Katsu Don...Really beautiful Ponggul too, thanks so much Jimmy and Ojisan for this wonderful video. Hi FREDA - Yes you will recall that OLD POGGOL RD starting from Upper Serangoon Rd right up to Ponggol End - the few Seafood Restaurants were resettled. You will recall the Bus Terminal by the Jetty where buses makes 3 point turns and sometimes looks dangerous they might knock down some diners enjoying their chili crabs as some tables were placed by the road. This dark and dangerous road surrounded by Tall Trees and farming area gets flooded during heavy rains. Yes the entire Ponggol is so well planned - canals, modern shopping malls, MRT / LRT trains / waterfront housing, heritage trails to High Tech Park, Universities, Regional Offices is a town of the future in Singapore.

Let me guide those that wanna try There are 3 outlets in Singapore Punggol definitely will be the outlet with the most crowd due to the many young families & couples there Havelock is quite a old estate and bukit batok crescent is quite ulu Black pig katsu is delicious but can be very jelat since it is extremely fatty Oysters kaki is great and fresh. Oyster is huge 👍🏼 keep it up Menu can be found online

Ah boy boy S$12.80 in hawker is quite expensive. Not wonder you needs to share with cute cute uncle Jimmy yap hahaha 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 we feels expensive too. Although the chef there is very professional ❤️😍🥰 but if for grandma grandpa who live alone spend this amount is quite expensive for them and us too

verdict: i went down and dabao the food from sembawang HAHAHA. katsu don was not bad!! unagi was decent! but honestly recommend the katsu don as their signature more worth ! 😊 Overall it was not bad! 😍

4 pax easily near to $50…. i had tried it and it is nice but will not go there again as the price equivalent to a restaurant meal.

日本のカツカレーが流行りだして、その後とんかつがブレイクしたらしいですね。 イギリスではカツが入って無くても、和風カレーならカツカレー（笑）

I see the price ... its so pricey, but if we compare it to expensive famous Katsu restaurants, if we can get that quality at a 30-40% discount....... seems worth it no?
