Conceptual Painterly Still Life Edit - Explained
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I got to do a live photo shoot demonstration for the Sony #BeAlpha live event! I decided to create a still life image, like a recreation of those famous, classic paintings. Except, in true form, I made it a self-portrait so that my body mimicked the scene.
The first set was decorated with red roses, a velvet red tablecloth, red grapes, a nectarine, and a particularly mouldy peach. I was so scared I was going to knock those glass jars off...which are filled with water and almond milk, by the way!
The second set was minimalist, just me and some green apples, with my spine mimicking the round shape of the fruit. I selectively adjusted the colors of my skin (desaturated), dress (turned yellow), hair (turned red), and apples (darkened, along with the table), to create my own painterly palette.
I hope you enjoy this look behind the scenes, and as always, let me know if you have any questions!

great work as always Brooke! Love from South Africa
Absolutely ADORE these edits! Thank you Brooke
I love your “no excuses” attitude. Always an inspiration. Thanks.
❤️❤️❤️
Glad to see you back
The Sony live event was great. It’s a rare opportunity to see an artist work live, especially when that person’s work resonates with one’s own aesthetic appreciation. You make it look so easy, but from concept to gathering necessary props, and shooting to editing there is a lot going on. The surreality of your images always makes the viewer stop to try and figure out what’s going on. Great work and congratulations on your collaboration with Sony.✌🏼
So good 🔥🔥🔥
Amazing! I wish my mind worked like yours.
Hugely creative as always, Brooke!
Always a joy to watch your process. It's SO different than my process. :)
