Conair French Braider… Will it Work? | FAB or FAIL

I hope y’all are ready for another #FabOrFail! Today, I am putting the #Conair French Braider to the test! This tool claims to be the easiest braiding tool on the market to use, but will my team of beginner level braiders be able to make it work? Watch to find out…
✅ Follow Hairitage on instagram HERE: / hairitagebymindy (@hairitagebymindy)
✅ Keep up with the Hairitage website for launch dates and updates HERE: hairitagebymindy.com/
I’ve been wanting to test out this #braiding tool for a while now, but I thought it would make an even more interesting video to see my team attempting to use it! Nobody on my team is as familiar with braiding as I am, and they all consider themselves beginners when it comes to french braiding, especially!
We tried 2 different French Braiding Tools, the links are below:
*Conair French Braider (pink): shopstyle.it/l/baYIP
*Amazon Braiding Machine (red): shopstyle.it/l/baYII
Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the end result of the Conair French Braider! I think the smaller one that I got off of Amazon was just too small. It might work on a little girl, or someone with very fine hair, but it truly does not hold very much hair at all!
I thought that the instructions from the Amazon tool were more clear, but that the tool performance of the Conair tool was WAY better. The Conair tool is definitely a FAB 👍🏼from me! I can’t believe how well the braids turned out, especially since my team has no braiding experience whatsoever!

When you’ve been doing something for so long, sometimes it’s hard to remember how difficult or confusing it was when you were learning that skill or technique. For example, I can scratch bake really well. I can make everything from cookies, to cakes, to bread. For me those things aren’t hard. For other people those skills are hard. Sometimes things can be confusing at first when learning. With everything, the more you practice the better you get. If you suck at it, ask for tips for what you can improve then keep doing it and tweaking it until you get it right. Eventually you’ll be good at it.

I agree that the tool thing is overly complicated. Whatever happened to left/right over center, adding hair before each twist? I was thinking about buying one for myself because I think it's hard to French braid your own head so this should make it easier. Plus if your arms get sore doing your own hair within 30 seconds the clips will hold everything in place while you take a break. I do agree with you though. It is easier to just learn to French braid someone else's hair instead of buying this.

A tool like this from the early 90s is how my mom learned to braid my hair! I know how braid but my daughter has such fine hair it is really difficult to keep hold of to add in! I may grab one of the smaller ones for her and the larger one for me. I love that it holds the hair in place so that if I need to rest my arms for a moment I could!

I learned just by watching someone else do it and then practicing on my own hair in 7th grade. Smaller size braids (like bang braid or headband braids) works well with smaller one. Bigger one if you're braiding all your hair into one braid or two... does take practice, but after you get the hang of it it's an awesome hair tool and capable of not only French braid, but Dutch, fishtail, e.t.c honestly it's like an extra hand for braiding your own hair.😍

Otherwise I would lose track of where the hair is going and coming from. And my arms get sore and I would need a break. This seems like it would hold your hair while you rest your arms.

When I French braid my own hair (which is definitely more difficult than braiding someone else's hair) after I do part of it I take a hand mirror and check the back to make sure it looks ok and there are no pieces sticking out at weird angles. If there are I undo it to the part where I messed up or I start the whole thing over again. After awhile you get it right on the first try almost every time. I also take frequent breaks by resting my elbows on the sink :P You could also get one of those mirrors with multiple sections that "fold" so you can see the back of your head without having to hold a mirror up, I'm not sure what they're called though.

This little device is good because it can help to teach people how to braid. One of the hardest things to do is know which pieces to grab when you make your braids. I with I had a device like this to help create double Dutch braids.

For some reason I can dutch braid really easy (it's a reverse French braid practically to people who dont know) but it takes me a bit to get in the groove for a french braid. Especially in my own hair. Good thing I like the look of Dutch braids more😂

I got these when they first came out in the 90s they are so easy to use they also came with a large and small braider so you got two, an instruction video and a booklet, I recently purchased one and there wasnt even a booklet with it which is a shame as I forgot how to do a dutch braid with this

I’ve been watching your channel for so long. And still haven’t gotten a French Braid down. I have the large tool, just sitting in my hair accessory bag. I’m scared of it! Plus my heart is super curly, thick and long. But this definitely seemed helpful because the directions confused me so much
