Their stuff is always catchy while being musically complex. I call it jiggy prog. I wasn't sure about them at first, but after seeing them live I was hooked.

A Lot of their style stems from the guitarist Will Swan. Who is so innovative with this sound that he has his own genre called swancore
“I’ve gotta know the context around that.” Yeah, that’s almost every Jon Mess lyric. Haha Great review!

“Ayo Jon. We need a new album.” “I got you homie.” “… the fuck does any of this mean!?” “Yes.” “Aight. Word. Print it.”
If you are interested in hearing the two vocalists harmonize, check out their song “Frozen One” from the Mothership album. One of my favorite songs of theirs, I would dig a video covering it!
That background vocalist near the end, Andrew Wells, has his own band, Eidola, which is also pretty great stuff in a similar vein to this but less pop lyric-wise. I'd recommend something off Degeneraterra - either Humble Ledger (Gnostic States), Contra: Second Temple, or Omega: Third Temple.

Yesssss great suggestion!
From what you said you wanted from this song, I would suggest checking out “chucky vs the giant tortoise” also by them.
DGD just released 2 new songs Synergy and Pop Off. Their music videos have connected story lines, with more coming in the near future.
I just want to say You a BIG THANK YOU. because i just discovered this band and fell in love God bless Critical Reactions
My favorite part of this song is sitting back thinking about listeing to this at 3am because the world had stopped when this came out and it was so fresh and so amazing to still have something so awesome in such a weird time.
Will swan is unlike any other guitarist to ever exist in terms of ability to write
“My reeses cup of music” - best description of DGD to date. Love your reviews brother thanks for the great content!
“Oooh, that inspire?” Literally me every time I listen to this song.
If you want a nasty outro from them, youve got to check out "evaporate" or "on the run"
Yes man! you really need to give this album a shot. Parallels and Nothing Shameful are my top 2 for this album

Born to Fail and Say Hi have gotta be my favourites off this album
Should listen to “on the run” by DGD. Will swan does some vocals in the end and the other 2 vocalists all harmonize
Gah this song (and album) is so good. Never was a fan until I checked this album out. So glad I did!
Hey Brian, loving the reactions. Lots of your reviews feel like my personal spotify channel, so I wanted to throw one you haven't heard before. Orbs - A Man of Science Trioscapes - Curse of the Ninth The bassist from Between the Buried and Me, Dan Briggs, has a few small side projects, these two bands being some of them. He plays guitar in Orbs and bass in Trioscapes. I think you'll really enjoy both, and keep making videos!

Brian has done Blast Off by Trioscapes before and he really liked it if I remember correctly, but more Dan Briggs stuff would be amazing. I've been occasionally requesting Nova Collective which is my personal favorite side project of his.
Tilian is my favorite singer ever. Been suggesting his old band tides of man a few times. Dude is an angel, agreed. Dgd is a top 5 for me too, even without tilian.
Been meaning to give these guys a listen for a long time, but this is my first time. Really dug this, so I'll definitely make them a priority. Such a cool combo for those of us who love both pop and metal. If I was in the mood to be super critical I might say the metalcore bits were a little generic, but I'd be just fine appreciating these guys as a pop band that just incorporates metal bits here and there. One thing that really stood out was the beautiful chordal work in the guitars during that section at the 4:00 mark.
2:58 Lol, as if there would be context for that. I do love when the screamer and the singer are harmonizing, but it doesn't happen a lot with them. If that's what you're looking for though, I highly recommend Variation by them
Fantastic band all around! Great reaction/review brother
Subscribed! Love that you pick up on the songs layers. Looking forward to seeing you do more DGD reactions!
Love your channel man.
You're that one friend that knows almost every thing about what good music is and I get excited when you like a band I like. Makes me feel as if I'm on the right track with my taste in music lol.
I have always absolutely loved DGD. And YES, listen to the whole album. It's a brilliant album.
Please check out either Son of Robot or Count Bassey from their album Artificial Selection. Both amazing songs and the perfect amount of pop/heaviness. Will Swan’s guitar work is always really tight. Glad you dig it!
do Say Hi by them
Nice! This is one of my favorites!
since you love dgd, i think you'd like hail the sun as well! a reaction to will they blame me if you go disappearing or anti-eulogy would be awesome

This album is 10/10! Amazing album!
react to nothing shameful by dgd next! that has to be my favorite song off of afterburner
I first listened to them a year or so ago and they have become my favorite band. Afterburner is AWESOME! There is a salsa track done DGD style with Spanish vocals and English screams. Three Wishes is my favorite, the vocal hook “multiple stab wounds! Multiple stab wounds, yeah!” is so ridiculous and catchy I sing it out loud every time in public, making anyone nearby understandably uneasy 😬 😂 it’s that good, it’s ridiculous!
Hey, I've seen both your DGD reactions, I know you like the blending of the two singers, I think their best song for that is "Man of The Year", another song you must listen to is "Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise" whether you do a reaction or not
If you want a great song with the screamer harmonizing at the end and that second vocalist (Andrew Wells) getting some time to shine, check out Nothing Shameful off the same album.

+1 for Nothing Shameful. So good
Definitely get the album! Given your reactions to them so far, you'll love it. It's got a wide variety of stuff going on. From what you said in this video, I think you'll enjoy these the most: Prisoner Calentamiento Global One In a Million Parody Catharsis Strawberry's Wake Nothing Shameful ...thinking about it, just react to the whole album. I'd be interested to hear you take on it as a whole.
2:01 "Dude's got the voice of an angel..." -Bryan "NO, I DON'T THINK SO!" -Tilian
Love this guy’s observations
Idk anyone said it but there were actually parts where the singer was doing duets with the singer. (Both screaming) I know it's not the harmonizing you want but it's something
You definitely need to check out Eidola 💙💙💙💙
I loved this
that groovy section was so sick!!!
The whole album is very solid, but not their best in my opinion. Mothership (the album Inspire the Liars is on) I think is their best, but their past few albums are all very good.
I think this my favorite track by them
I was wondering if the Spiritbox outro fadeout was going to carry over to a fade-in for this intro.😀
Do one in a million dance gavin dance
Check out Nova Collective - State of Flux. Prog metal/Fusion. Top of the game song right there
I'm fairly new to this band, the only reason I started listening to them initially was because I saw them on tour with Periphery and wanted to get familiar with their music for the show. I've only really listened to their last 3 albums and I think Artificial Selection is my favorite, I enjoy pretty much every song on that album to some degree whereas Afterburner especially there are songs I love but also several that I can't really stand to listen to. Some people rag on them a lot for having a fairly homogenized sound and from what I've heard from them I'd agree to some extent but given they're sort of a novelty band for me anyways to throw in my rotation and mix things up a bit I don't mind that at all. All in all, cool band, I dig it.
Rite- Mother of Millions is amazing! Also Facewaves or Quest by Aviations would be great to check out. Thanks for the reaction Bryan!
Have you checked out Tillian's solo stuff (he just goes by Tillain)? It's super good.

Also check out Bearings "Hello, it's You" album is super good, very catchy and the lyrics are really good.
In case you’re still looking for context, the lyrics are a dig at influencer culture and people who go on these “enlightened” journeys of self discovery then turn into gurus or whatever just to humble flex in the guise of inspiration.

Very interesting. I gotta go back and listen with the lyrics on hand and this theme on the mind.
If you love Tilian's angelic voice you need to listen to Cocky off his solo album
Dwellings- see it through plasssss
We need some more DGD! You should check out Eidola sometime too if you like these guys. 🤘
If You like this, You should react to wolf and bear, monstro and street rat are fire too
Dance Gavin Dance has changed dramatically over the last 15 years. I think you should listen to the their tree city sessions, where the current singer Tillian sings some of their old material before he joined the band. Carl Barker is OOF (imo).
good stuff. have you reacted to Code Orenge? i think ypu would like Underneath.
More DGD please.
DGD haven't made it among my favorites, but always enjoyable and very colorful sonically. I may just be a jerk but I love when Claudio from Coheed does vocals like this but others haven't been able to make it click for me.
😍😍😍😍😍
You should check out a band called Issues
Caligula's Horse - Salt
Can I request more dgd?
Ahhh this is actually my least favorite song off of Afterburner! But I love DGD. If you do anything else by them please check out Nothing Shameful off this album - as others have mentioned, Andrew Wells adds a lot to the song and fronts another great band, Eidola.

this is not even the best song on the new album. there's some great stuff on there
First time I really disagree with Brian. I love math rock and I like a lot of metal and occasionally like poppy core like crown the empire but this song was unlistenable. The guitar lines felt static and the vocals started to grate. Dude has a nice voice and but it just didn't feel right for anything going on in the rest of the song for me.
Honestly, man, your channel would be more enjoyable if you didn't exude arrogance when you comment on stuff you don't like. This song is pretty magical and very well crafted, yet I just left with your impression of "the ending wasn't that great". It's a bummer that you speak opinions like facts and make the whole experience of watching you hear the song for the first time as something underwhelming. I'm on the spectrum too, so I can relate somewhat to the way you think, but it doesn't make for the best reactions.
bruh can you calm down with the EXCLAMATION POINTS in your titles? Jesus I hate that
