Completing your Wood Fired Oven | 4. Painting the Flue Gallery

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

While you can leave the PreCast Flue Gallery unpainted, we think it a lick o' satin black high temperature paint makes it look really sharp. Learn more about our ovens: bit.ly/3aaTlvE
In this video we take you through the process of painting the PreCast Flue Gallery, and also talk about different ways that you could finish your oven - building it into an enclosure, creating a brick facade and so on.

Can you paint the flue before you apply cement over insulation instead of getting paint on cement in case you want to apply thinset for mosaic

We recommend doing your curing fires before you paint he flue gallery, otherwise retained water in the casting can cause blistering/failure of the coating. Good question though!

Ahhh - good question! It's actually a twin-skin flue, so the internal stainless steel flue is not painted, but the other skin (which doesn't get nearly as hot) has been painted with different high temp paint by the flue manufacturer, most likely a standard 'pot-belly black' paint.

Unfortuanately all we can offer is black, there are other high temp paints out there to buy, but most of the colours aren't really something I would want (bright red, silver, white - not really a look I can see working all that well)

    Why not a limewash coat?

We like the aesthetic of the black and it lasts much longer than a limewash would.
