Complete Tour of My Log Home Plans (Walkthrough Model)

Ойын-сауық

This is a complete tour of the design and layout of the Log Home that I have been building on this channel. It is a walkthrough model so I can show you all of the rooms and how everything will look once it is built. This walkthrough design model is really nice in the planning stage to show the scale of things and get a really got feel for what the drawings will actually look like inside.

Welcome to Traplines and Inlines
I have the pleasure of sharing my passions for the wilderness, building, fixing and all other things interesting with my great group of KZread friends.
I have lived offgrid in the bush for over 3 years, but now I am moving to the next chapter in my life and am building a big log home as my next place to live. It is going to be an incredible journey building my own home. I am using logs I harvested myself and plan to do most of the work by myself. This project will be the main focus of my channel, with many other adventures along the way im sure!
Thank you for watching

The first floor bathroom is the one you’ll hit when you come in dirty. Dump your clothes in the washer and hit the walk-in shower (instead of tub) so you don’t track dirt through the house. Love your design.

Radiant floor heating would be a good way to heat your house and would be a good compliment to using a fireplace. For your master bathroom, I would do a good size walk in shower. There is no need to have 3 bathtubs.

If he gets married one day, his wife will appreciate an upstairs tub. 🫧😁/ But I do agree that he should have at least one walk-in shower on a lower level. For when his older relatives visit & mobility/safety might be an issue. Always good to plan ahead.

Recommend free standing wood stoves versus fireplaces in the wall ....so much more heat proficient as compared to fireplaces where so much heat goes up the chimney , unless perhaps have inserts that capture the heat better

You are an incredible young man! been with you for over 3 years now (I just missed your first couple of videos trapping) I'd agree with some other posted comments, no need for 3 tubs. do a walk in shower! As we age it seems like getting in and out of the tub gets tougher. Maybe even splurge with a rainfall head, a second shower head, a wand, some steam. You wouldn't ever regret it I promise. Keep up the amazing work 💯

The office can utilize the closet for supples etc. There are always things you don’t want sitting out in the room, so the closet can be used for this. Install some shelves for now. You could change your mind down the road to perhaps use it for a bedroom.

Love it!! A few things that you may consider that I found practical in my home: Is to have a nice wide WALK-IN shower, no tub. AMAZING! For your master closet, may consider one 4 foot wide door and use barn doors. You'll thank me! ☺️ And just a thought, with your active life. I would suggest not even having that small room for your office. Make it a wide open mudroom area for your gear and other helpful items. Make that space upstairs over looking the beautiful view and over looking your down stairs your office space. But I'm guessing you may find yourself doing most your work at the dining room table... Just a few suggestions you know you best. THANK YOU for your channel! Absolutely love your story! ❤

I have a neat idea. The huge front truss window view?.....what if you built 'runway' style loft that goes all the way across the front of those windows and put two overstuffed wide leather chairs up there with a single table between them. Maybe even off to one end have a small bourbon/whiskey display with various rocks tumbler glassware. Id totally go up there and savor a sip and that GOD GIVEN VIEW!! Call it "heavens hearth" 😇🥰 (if ya really wanna get fancy, rather than a second set of stairs, have an open hallway go all the way across the home from front end to back loft. The railing could be designed with custom black coated steel with unique silhouette carvings. Have that hallway floor trimmed with lighting so when you're on the main floor and looking up, you see the carvings!) I mean, if you're gonna dream, ...do it right! 😂 Personally, ive always dreamed as if money was no object, then proceeded within budget, and 9 times out of ten i end up with a very happy 'inbetweener' i can live with! Also, having a half wall floor-pan shower stall wash station in a mudroom or back porch is not only perfect for pet bathing, but knocking off wet mud from coveralls and boots. With hanger hooks on the wall above for hanging things to drip dry, or hooking a leash while washing a dog. Having those plumbing ideas from the get go is smart! We keep and old washer and dryer set in our garage just for the "country nasties" that come with the outdoors lifestyle!

Can’t wait to see the finished product, my favorite channel of this sort. If I may add a piece of advice or my thoughts, I would be removing one or two bathtubs and going with showers, nothing better then a big walk in shower. I’m sure as a man you don’t bath much but every house should have one tub. Also I’d make the bathroom an en-suite off the master. Either way looks awsome. Good for you. As a dad with a teenager becoming his own man. It’s awsome to see someone your age realizing his dream and not being afraid to work his butt of to achieve it. Do it well your young. Cheers.

Go on boy😄 you are doing good, respect man and I will follow you💪 Maybe, on the vide upstairs, its an idea to make a little museum from the tools you used with building this log house? The chainsaw on a standard for example? Just an idea 😄💪 Why dont you lengten the basement and make your own great workingspace underground with doors to the outside? Question: how did you take care of the sanitair like the sewage system, power plan, water drainage, water supply and, I am sorry because I am in the military for over 30 years, whats your back up plan (plan B when shit goes wrong)? There are also wood stoves with a boiler, connected to the shower, kitchen etc who heat up your water for free, just an idea my friend. I want you to do good and well and I enjoy you so much, so keep following your heart my friend, thats the only way to do it and to be happy. I get happy from you man. I sent you an email on your website, I hope you will answer it. Take care my friend😄🙏

One thing that might help with the bathroom doors (or really any of the doors off the central hallway) you could use pocket doors that slide into the wall. That way you avoid doors blocking cabinets or opening into the hallway. I use them all the time in designing interior spaces. Anywho, just my two cents. Nice job with the design - I can't wait to see it all finished!

Years ago I had a loft area like that and I put a nice L shaped desk system in it and used it as an office. With that view it could be inspirational for you. Also, for your master bedroom bathroom I would definitely not do a tub/shower. Do a separate glass shower and then a corner tub or something. The bathroom in the basement I would do as just a nice shower. You want to soak in a tub, you have other ones in the house to utilize.

Hey Kyle, for the loft area... I'm thinking a gaming area of some kind. Probably too small for a pool table, unfortunately. That would be ideal. But, there's certainly room for a foosball table, hockey table, air-hockey table, etc. If you don't want to clutter the area that much, a dart board would be a great option. For me personally, I'd put a full-blown racing sim cockpit there :)
