Great information thank you! I really appreciate the sustainability considerations and wouldn’t want it any other way, but I can already hear my kids complaining about that walk! 😅

Having lived on the island for over 20 years I can tell you that you will NEVER get rid of those flies. The island is over 100 miles long, and those flies will travel a long way when they smell BBQ and especially sea food. Disney has left hundreds of acres untouched(for which we are all grateful), and the flies love living in the bushes. No one has yet mentioned the no-see-us that eat you alive at dawn and dusk. Also look out for scorpions, black widow spiders, tarantulas and boas. This is a very rural island and we live with these on a daily basis.

@@livingbydisney Mixed bag, some are grateful for the work, some are furious to have one of our most beautiful beaches overrun with cruisers. Lighthouse Point used to be a very special place for most Eleutheran, remote, untouched and a treasure of The Bahamas. There is no putting the genie back in the bottle. The amount of sewage, food waste and litter from fast food restaurants will stay on the island and seepage will eventually make its way to the reef. You can’t ship in thousands of people a week and expect the island to remain pristine. They call it progress.
