One of the nicest things the kitchen staff did for us on our first cruise was they surprised my Filipino wife by making her chicken adobo. We thought they were only going to make a few peices until they put a large bowl of rice on the table and about 2 chickens worth of adobo. The family we were dining with ate really well that night because they just got 2 dinners.

Another tip on passports: if you are a naturalized citizen (born elsewhere, but now a US citizen) it usually takes longer to apply for one because you have to send all your naturalization paperwork in with the standard documents, so the turn-around times don't generally apply - always give yourself extra time, if you can.

The elevators on the Wish have which floors they go to listed outside the elevator door, no need to check inside. Also, the forward and aft stairways have different colors, one is green, and the other is blue. One has Cinderella's carriage motifs, and the other has songbirds. Makes it easier to keep up with where you are.

We are Disney Cruise line freaks... We are on the Silver Anny on the Fantasy here in May! We are all about DCL and Empty Nesters and I vlogg my senior life on DCL.. We do at least 4 cruises a year. We live in Texas so are lucky to be able to catch a few a year from here. We love Disney Cruise Line and their services. Cheers AJ!

If you live in the northeast, I’d highly recommend a NYC cruise. The cruise itself is cheaper and it’s cheaper to take a train or a bus into the city then it is to fly and have to spend a night in the hotel before. Bermuda is also my favorite port of call so you don’t miss out on excursions. Also sailing down the Hudson is amazing and the boat was way less crowded.

I've thought about sailing out of NYC but then don't you spend more days at sea to get to Bermuda then the typical cruise ship itineraries? Especially since the way back will be the same so most of the trip days are days at sea and also back to back sea days. Is that still fun or do you think less days in a row at sea and more days at ports is more fun/breaks up the routines of spending your days at sea?

  • @ldy0013

@@genamokbel605 They have different cruise lengths options. I’d recommend at least 5 nights. My NY trip was departure day, 2 days at sea, 2 days in Bermuda. The 4 night cruises I could see being too little time in Bermuda but the 5 night trip was a good amount of time there. Departure day is amazing because you get to sail down the Hudson and see the NY skyline and the Statue of Liberty. I like days at sea because there is so much to do on the ship. The Bermuda days had great excursions and you actually stay docked in Bermuda overnight and a lot of people went out that night. I had a blast. I thought it was just as good as a Port Canaveral cruise and a fraction of the cost.

The nursery for us was $9/hr on the wish for our 3 year old. We just did 2 hours a day except for castaway cay day, he absolutely loved it and the cast members were great communicating through the app. Highly recommend it. My little will be aged out of the nursery on our next trip and the kids club age is a little strange for me to feel ok leaving my 4 year old. Also our servers were amazing!! My little gets a glass of chocolate milk at home every night for dinner, after the first night they had his ice cold milk ready every night. Didn’t have to ask and they made sure to not put any food he’s allergic to on or near his plate (although I kept his epipen with me, it was great not to stress it)

One thing I found incorrect as an experienced cruiser: you do NOT want or need to bring your passport off the ship with you at ports of call. I repeat DO NOT bring your passport. Your key-to-the-world card or room key is your ticket through customs and back on the ship. Bring a paper copy of your passport and/or have a clear picture of your passport with you but NEVER the physical thing. You can very easily have a family member or crew member aboard bring you your passport or send it to you if you cannot get back on the ship or are detained. They cannot steal it back for you if it gets stolen or find it for you if you lose it in another country. Just lock up your passport in your room safe and bring along a photocopied paper of it with you when you get off. If you are detained or barred from getting on the ship then a paper copy will have all the information they need to confirm your citizenship and a crew member will be able to get you your passport from your stateroom.

@6:32 as someone who went on a Disney cruise at 12 years old just before Edge existed, I APPRECIATE EDGE. Oceaneers is split as 3 - 12 even today because Edge did not exist yet and Vibe started at 13. This was and is a major mistake by Disney. Oceaneers is WAY too immature for a 12 year old. I would say 10's pushing it. Oceaneer's daily activities were restricted to things 3-5 year olds could always participate in, which seriously narrowed the offerings. Age appropriate activities for 10 -12 year olds by themselves were non-existent - they could join in with the littles or go find something else to entertain themselves. I spent most of my time as a 12 year old hanging out with my mom in the family friendly activities or wandering the ship by myself, which got very boring. I was bored on a DISNEY CRUISE. I am very happy Edge is a thing.

So here's a question, my dad is a diabetic and I know that Disney is good about accommodating guests with dietary needs but does anyone know what types of deserts he would get if he wanted something with dinner? Is it like sugar free ice cream or something else? Also are you allowed to bring fans with you? Me, my dad, and my brother all sleep with box fans for the white noise.

Re: the passport thing: I heard a story recently of somebody who forgot their passport when going to Canada from the US. The border agent let them through because claiming “I didnʼt realize I needed a passport to go to Canada” was proof that they really were from the US; nobody else would make that mistake. Knowing the source I expect this story is exaggerated or distorted but has a kernel of truth.

As someone who lives very near the Canadian boarder in a small NY town for many, many years we just waved at boarder guards as we went through. Even now, some of the agents give us “courtesy “ entrance.

It's not getting into Canada that's the problem, it's returning to the US. US Immigration & Border Patrol will not simply wave people through. If you claim to be a US citizen who forgot your passport, plan on staying most of the day at Immigration while they verify your citizenship.

So I just want to make double-sure… if we sail when my son in 12, he can still get into the kids club, and now get into the tween club?? We haven’t sailed as a family since he was 7, so I wanted to make sure that booking this year is the best way for him to get the best of both worlds. Plus, he’s on the autism spectrum, so I think he will still really enjoy the activities of the kids club.

But what if cost is not an issue and you have young children? We just did a 7 day RC cruise and while my kids did have a great time food choices were tough bc not all restaurants I felt were kid friendly. The free soft serve was icy lol and entertainment wasn't geared towards children.

The cost of a cruise depends on the destination, the length of the cruise and the type of cabin / stateroom that is booked and how many people in your travelling group will be staying in the one cabin. The cheapest is an inside cabin that has no windows and the cost will increase with an oceanview and a balcony room. Suites are getting to the pricier side.

@MJ-gj6mj I was on the Disney Magic, I think. There was a main pool (pretty small, it also doubled as a stage for deck shows) and it was full most times of the day. There was also a pool at the adult club though, not quite as crazy

Some really great information here. However, I noticed that some of your B-roll quality in this video is a little…odd? It seems like they were recorded by someone who’s never done this for you. They’d pan very quickly, or the video would be tilted and it looked like they stumbled? From 20:20 to 20:28 was very hard to watch. I ended up just listening to your voiceover and stopped looking at the video since it made me a bit dizzy.
