    The differences in the markings and other differences FN had no choice. FN does not own the technical data package (TDP) so the missing markings and other incorrect items are not there because FN cannot put them there. The other thing of note is your issued rifle was built in Columbia SC. The collectors gun you purchased was built in Fredericksburg VA. They cannot build civilian guns in the same facility as their military guns. What you purchased is as close to a perfect clone correct rifle as the law allows. Semper fi 5811 USMC(RET)

    You are correct, The M16/M4 Military collectors edition were produced in Fredericksburg, VA. for a time. However, The Military Collector’s Edition I have is a later model, built in Columbia, SC. You are 100% correct about the TDP though. I forgot to mention as well that the Military Collector M16 has an upper with M4 feed ramps. Which is not needed or clone correct, but she does run flawlessly in any environment so far. 🍻 Rah! 5711 USMC

Now I ordered just the 20" barrel from Primary Arms and it has the same markings as your NOS upper receiver. I used it on my ZEV upper receiver and the free float centurion arm's handguard. I have the Primary Arms 1-8 lpvo, SOLGW neutral KNOX flash hider and I use it with my suppressor. With my hand loaded 5.56 77gr OTM's half moa at a hundred yds all day. I'm retired ARMY with multiple deployments to buttcrackastan and my 20" primary went with me every time. NSDQ!!!

    There was a post a while back discussing the topic of F stamped FNs and if they meant they’re military contract models. The conclusion is that it may not be and some commercial ones seem to have F stamps randomly. I actually got a FN 20 inch upper and bought the kac rails and it has a F stamped bolt carrier with the fn logo barrel but it’s under the hand guard gas tube.

    Do you know if the Ohio Ord USMC FN M16A4 NOS is still available anywhere, or if they ever will be again? I have been looking at getting an M16A4 clone because I enjoy the functionality of the 20 inch rifles and remember this rifle just always doing what I needed it to do when it was issued to me. It needs to be functionally correct, but I am not worried as much about markings and slight cosmetic differences. The FN rifle would probably be fine for me, but is so expensive. If the USMC FN M16A4 NOS was still available for a lot less, I would definitely go that route.

    Damn wish I would have seen this video prior to getting my FN. Just got it yesterday and already kinda regret it. They shouldn't bill the gun as a pretty much exact copy when it indeed is not. Also aren't the surplus barrels CMV vs. the 4140 that the military collector came with? Thanks for the video man. Started with a M249 on my first deployment to AFG then became a team leader and finally got my A4 with 203 that was so highly coveted. Wish the FN was a little closer in detail to that gun.

I had a flip up leaf sight for the m203 behind my front sight block. Both ran those old black 3 point slings and my a4 w/m203 had a mag pouch attached to the a2 stock..i remember some guys had the acog RCO mounts that had the bolts on the left and some on the right.. Apparently the ones that were on the left side and out of the way of the ejection port were superior and caused less malfunctions.. But now i see they all went to dual locking throw levers which is superior.. Our mount screws would always come loose on our ACOGs and guys would always be tightening them down.. Thats probably why they were changed.

    That's a first for me, the FN Herstal FN15 Military Collector M16's (complete rifle) I've seen all have the barrel with the cage code, and no FN logo. The FN15 Military Collector M16 upper you bought must have been an old stock from the pre-production models that were produced in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The later production models are now made in Columbia, South Carolina where the military weapons are produced.

  • @lcplcalifornia89

    @lcplcalifornia89

    3 жыл бұрын

    Negative, this FN is a later model built in Columbia, South Carolina. Built in 2019. The Older models had a different lower, but the same upper. The lowers still had the FN 'Football' logo, marked "FN15 Rifle Cal. 5.56x45mm Nato" on the mag well, and marked "FNH Fredericksburg, Virginia"- no cage code- above the fire control group on the left side. The Uppers remain the same. Although, I have seen some older models with the Matech sights that had the civilian logo on the side. The "new" models have the football logo but are marked "M16 Rifle 5.56 NATO" and marked on the side, "FN Columbia, SC MFG CODE 3S67" with the same upper, as I'm sure you already know. When I bought my first M16A4 military collectors, I was disappointed to learn that they were marked differently, so I dove in and did my research, and ive never seen an FN15 Military Collectors M16 with a Cage Code/F Marked Upper or Cage Code Barrel.. Also the instruction manual that they come with says the Military Collectors comes with a 4140 steel Barrel, when the Real Issued M16s come with a 4150 steel barrel. That REALLY bothered me, (I know the metal isn't that different) but still. So I called FN and they confirmed with me that it does in fact use a 4150 barrel and that's a typo 🤷🏻‍♂️ who knows the actual truth? Even with these changes, FN cannot actually mark the guns the same way as the military issued rifles because of TDP. Thats why they are marked the way they are. Either way, my FN15 Military Collectors M16 is slightly more accurate than the NOS cage code upper 🤷🏻‍♂️ so I'm not going to complain over marking any more.. I shoot my military collectors way more than the NOS! I actually put a2 grips on my collectors so I could use it alot and keep the KAC M5 rail nice. Lol Cheers 🍻

FN stepped up to the plate when Colt couldn't meet the production contracts, so under Colts TDP, FN manufacturers m16s and m4s for the US Military. In my experience, the FN's are nicer.
