Thank you for the detailed review of the two engines. I have a MX13 in a 2015 T680 pulling a 2016 53’ Grate Dane Refer. We run cross country and I must say that the PACCAR does fine in the Midwest flat land. When we hit the Appellation or Rocky Mountains, both speed and fuel mileage are not good at all. Also, the engine brake does little help going down the mountain.

If you want POWER delete it. Currently pull paper rolls out of SC to North East and Midwest. Can pull the gorge in Va fully loaded at 79k at 78mph! Left Lane! PACCAR 355 rear ends 13 speed 😉😎🤷🏾‍♂️💪🏾💪🏾

I have a deleted MX-13 with deleted egr, PDI exhaust manifold, fass fuel system with a ported intake manifold and Peterbilt aircell intake spacer. 7 inch pipes being installed today. With the delete alone hp and torque were taken 546 hp 1850 tq. With pipes, both manifolds and intake spacer Im sure she's pushing well over 600 hp. She's no Cummins but better believe she be kicking ass and taking names!😎💪🏾

I'm a journeyman diesel mechanic, I have been into both of these I was skeptical about the paccar at first. The cummins isx15 dropped a liner getting exaust in the cooling system at 450,000 miles. Had to basically inframe it. The paccar mx13 is on a feed truck and it works its ass off and I had diesel in the cooling system at 950,000 miles. The paccar is a workhorse & its dam solid. Like the Cummins usto be.

Hello Friends, I have a daf model 2020 mx13 engine, engine retard. Why does this engine damage the valve stem, and I have seen several cases that their valve stem also breaks quickly, and this is a weakness for this engine. Is this weakness due to the construction of this engine or is there a reason that causes this problem, please guide me, this is a problem. Thanks

CATs been gradually discontinuing products and parts are getting trickier to get a hold of. You have to rely on the aftermarket. Cummins is the safest option. But I’d pick a PACCAR engine over a CAT.

Keep PACCAR out of your truck and keep your truck on the road (especially the MX-13). PACCAR drivelines, quite frankly, suck. They won't stay out of the shop! I drove three different ones in two years (a '15, '17, and '19) in Peterbilt 579's running OTR and two out of every three trips (3000-3500 miles/trip) they'd be in the shop for some engine, transmission, or DEF code.

  • @anthony1636

I would say completely the opposite. We run a fleet of 30 trucks 15 with the MX13. 10 with the Cummins isx. And five freightliners with the Detroit. Our shop will tell you that Number one for reliability is very close between the MX13 and the Detroit, but they prefer to work on the MX13. Our Cummins powered 579`s actually spend more time in the shop with breakdowns than the MX13 or the Detroit. Plus we do get better fuel economy than either the Detroit or the Cummins. We are slowly moving over to the MX13 for the fleet, and we will continue with Detroit powered Freightliners. But as it stands we cannot warrant the higher cost that the Cummins costs as a fleet user.

I have 2 579's with MX-13 engines. BOTH DELETED. One ive had for over 5 years and more than 500k put on it. Currently sitting at 786k and the other at 650k. They have been deleted for the past 2 years. I dont know who does the maintenance on those trucks or better yet just shitty drivers. Straight from the HORSES mouth I LITERALLY drive the living 💩 out those MX-13's and boy when I tell you those 'WHORES haven't let me down yet! Hear me clearly NOW?? Them B-I-T-C-H-E-S haven't let Daddy down yet!! Lmao and Daddy EXPECTS A LOT. When I say I'm overly impressed with the performance MAN. You gotta get that DEF crap off it 1st and then its literally like a catepillar turing into a butterfly! 😎💪🏾

Pre 2019 90% of paccar engine related codes were 1 trip codes- meaning if an anonymity showed up one time you would get a CEL on the dash. Most of the time these codes would really just be an anonymity and not an indication of an actual problem- which was frustrating for the driver who always has a cel and the tech who can’t figure out why the truck is throwing a code when everything seems fine. Post 2019 only 27 codes are one trip codes and the remaining 300 or so are two trip, so you won’t see any false CELs anymore.

Easy to service when changing oil the only time you go under the truck for is the drain plug I was a cum.ins guy not now I've herd Cummins stories too when some one tells the truth lol ran side by side with a 500 hp isx15 he used 1.5 mile to gallon more than my paccar at $5 a gallon I like taking that to the bank
