    I've had the Barista Express for around 10 months now. Well, i bought it for my fiance but she pulls the worst espresso shots (the gauge doesn't even lift up lol) so I was thinking about getting the touch just so that she can make coffee without much effort. Cos she has no idea how to froth or even tamp properly, no matter how many times I try and teach her! But after reading the reviews about the temp not being hot enough.. I'm not so sure. The barista express is BRILLIANT though, I was a total novice and knew nothing about coffee, but after 10 months I now make barista quality espresso with every shot 😀 it takes time but once you've got the hang of it, it's easy! I can even do latte art lol so yeah, actually, I'm sticking with the barista express!

    The Touch is not fully automated nor is it any easier to make good coffee than with the barista express. Yes, you have your touch screen, but YOU are still the one setting grind size, amount of coffee, tamp properly and so on. Only for frothing it is easier.... But as long as you are making bad espresso shots, good frothing doesn't help ;) So yeah, you make a good joice when you stick with the express! And maybe you're fiance learns it over time, or you'll just make her coffee forever :D

I do wish I had the easier frothing that comes with the touch but I don't mind actually, frothing has become second nature to me, I'm so good at it now haha. I actually just descaled and back flushed it, gave it a good polish so it's looking brand new again.

I mean I’ve been learning a lot about how to make espresso (dosing, yield, beans etc) but can’t seem to figure out this machine. My inner burr is already set much finer. Example, one grind level and my time increases 10 seconds almost. Do you dose manually or just use automatic dose? I’m going to be jealous of you’re auto dosing lol.

    Because no one talks about the most significant differences? I have the 2 machines at the moment, and I am debating which one to choose, I will mention advantages and disadvantages that I have observed: Barista Express in favor. In 15min more than ready to be used. The most important differences that I observe: Barista Express 1-Ready to use in 15min with portafilters already hot. (Very important to me) 2- The temperature of coffee extraction is 73 degrees Celsius against 65 of the PRO, the water also comes out hotter in BE 3-Durability, due to having less technology, it is a machine that will last longer, I have heard that the Barista Pro (BP) has had many failures, and if they do not make a guarantee, it is a product that you will have to replace faster, since the repair cost is much higher. I'm really almost determined to get the BE even though I know I'm going to miss the speed and power of the Milk steam of the BP. My impression when trying Barista PRO was that the cream was extremely good, but I did an experiment, I used the BP grind and shot from BE the cream came out almost as good as in BP, so I think it's just a matter of finding the perfect grind in BE The advantages that I find in BE are really more important to me. Practicality (I don't have to spend time and filtered water to heat the portafilter). DURABILITY and TEMPERATURE

I am leaning towards the Touch but hearing that the shots are not hot and only reach 145F. I am concerned about the longevity of the machine as well and how it holds up through the years. I’ve had the touch for about 5-6 months now and it’s been great. I’ve struggled to get the milk froth perfect in the past while using my friends coffee machine but the automated milk froth is a game changer. Gets the rest of your family or guests more involved in the coffee as well as anyone can give it a crack. I have the Pro - purchased yesterday and made my first delicious latte today. Because I drink raw milk I would be very happy to have a machine that only heats milk to 145f which ensures the good flora in the milk is retained. I’m not sure if my Pro can be adjusted to keep the heat at 145f. I would prefer not to use a thermometer.

    @Marvleo_05

    3 жыл бұрын

    I’ve had the bambino plus, and it’s great but the problem with those is the portafilter being tough to get off, so we returned it and upgraded to the barista express. Personally I love the barista express, it does just about the same as the rest, the pro, and touch save time in milk frothing and make it more user friendly. So just preference, I wanted to learn how to make a perfect latte without assistance so that was my main reason why I went with the barista express . Plus the barista series have a built in grinder and to have the best flavored espresso is to grind fresh coffee from your local Roastery and buy fresh. So the breville grinder itself is a $200 addition whereas you can get the barista series with the same price of the bambino and the grinder. Hope this helps !

    Hi, when Breville runs their sale the price difference is smaller, so I like the pro over the express. When the sale isn't on the price difference is larger. In terms of durability I would say it is the same across the three models, we have not seen issues with the touch screen. The Barista Touch does have a lot of great features and the auto frothing makes making milk drinks very easy

    Aside from the taste, the 54mm size is a breville-only size. No other manufacturers make portafilters in that size. If you want accessories such as a bottomless portafilter or portafilter rings, you need to specifically find one that is 54mm -- and if you ever upgrade to a different machine (possibly with a 58mm), you'd need to re-purchase all your accessories.

    I love my Express. Greatest thing I've ever bought. I considered these higher-priced models, but after months of research, I decided that they are actually inferior to the Express. This is because the two more expensive models are digital; as such, they will quickly cease to function. Digital computer interfaces will inevitably fail. If you agree or disagree, tell me why below. I'm open to being convinced otherwise.

    You wrote this review some time ago. Do you still have the same one and is it working? As far as which one will last longer will primarily depend on the user. All three have cheap electronic components, and will eventually wear down no matter how well treated or seldom you use it. Thats why they arent $5,000-$20,000 like the high quality commercial ones that last. So, I would never base my purchase on that. I would base it on ease of use and how good the quality of the final product is. From what I see here is the touch is far superior as ease of use. Judging by that alone its the winner. The quality is the only thing questionable, but they are all made by the same manufacturer. That leads me to believe the quality would be the same on all three.
