I LOVE Holbein. I have a set of Schmincke and love them, but I’ve always preferred Holbein for their vibrancy and opacity. When I do realistic portraits I use Sennelier and Schmincke but I do a lot of character/manga style work and Holbein is just number one for that. They’re incredible. They have so many beautiful convenience colors that I don’t have to mix my own colors very often, as they’ve never made my favorite mixes. Schmincke are more clear and mix better but Holbein if used at full strength and not mixed are just unbeatable in my eyes. But everyone’s style and preferences are different and we all have our needs. I’ve always preferred Asian style watercolors.

I really enjoy painting with Holbeins. I like the intensity, but i also like the ease with which they move. Thank you, Tammy for a super job!

I actually love holbein. Schmincke is also great. It's just holbein's colors are like very bold and intense.

They look more similar than I would have ever thought
