I had a Pioneer 1500NEX and ended up with the iLX-W650. Both about the same price, but the Alpine, while having a simple display, sounded way better and the interface was more intuitive. Of course I'd like to have the top of the line, but you got to know your limits. Great video.

I have the iLX-650e. I was mainly looking for a unit with android auto at the minimum and chose it for its price, simplicity and short chassis, especially when the HU cage is my car is quite space restricted. Only issue with it is the internal amp is quite crap when it clips out when it gets too loud or hot until i added separate amps which fixed that problem.

Thats disappointing maybe its not so bad driving just 2 front speakers & an amplified sub

Wish i would have saw this before i put in the i407. I had to quickly upgrade when my subwoofers couldn't be adjusted. I hope it sounds good cause the i407 sounded good but i could't tweek it to sound the best to my ears. what is 5volts compared to 8 volts, man im learning new things everyday.

Man I haven't paid attention to head units in 10 years and I have to replace the stock infotainment unit in my 19 Subaru because of a huge problem with screen delamination. There's so many and idk what to do. Looking at pioneer dmh-w4660 but now maybe I should do the ilx507.

I just got the ILX-W650. I love the sound and look but for some reason I lose connection and receive error messages that it doesn't support my device (I'm Android). I turn off my notifications sounds to stop the timing out but it still does it. Do you have any idea what the cause is?

I like what i hear about the ILX-507 but can you compare it to the Kenwood DMX908s….. I need help figuring out which is the better head unit for a complete sound upgrade on my trailblazer

To me all the Kenwood and JVC are a disappointment for the simple reason that I cant raise the volume past 15 by constantly holding the button. I have to do clicks to raise the volume level one at a time. Its very annoying. So now im looking for other alternatives.

You can connect your phone (using an adapter), DVD/BluRay player, or PC. Any device with an HDMI output.

Do the units have a record mode for their cameras?

Pioneer AVH-2500NEX or Alpine INE-W970HD what is best for Sound quality ?

I'm currently eyeing the Alpine ILX-W690D, which is a newer model and also has an HDMI input, but it's interesting that it doesn't have RDS for radio stations, which would be very useful. First of all, I really warmed to the KENWOOD DMX 8021DABS head unit, and quite a few connoisseurs say that it is a really good HD and maybe even better than Alpine in terms of interference, etc... and it also won an award. I would also be happy with the older model DMX8019DABS or DMX8020DABS as I don't care if I have a wireless or wired connection. It is important to me that the head unit has physical volume buttons and it would be great for me that it shows radio stations with RDS, that it has at least 3 RCA preout with at least 4 volts, bluetooth, USB connection, Android auto would also prefer a wired connection because this way it is certainly much safer that it works without any problems, of course it must display the radio stations so that you can see which saved station is on the preset.

@@scootypuffjr. I love the Alpine. If you have the factory sub, I would invest in the little backpack amp that you can attach to the back of the ILX 650. I noticed a little drop in power when installed it.

@erikanderson542 I don't have the factory sub. I do know that clean power is everything. I haven't decided how far I'm going to go with this one yet. I really only NEED android auto for navigation, and mirroring for watching KZread while waiting for my daughter at school.

I got my w650 installed from alpine authorised dealer last month replacing stock player. I hear that right side is louder than left but the setting is set to Center of 4 seats. Sudden squealing noise when playing. Low hissing sound when not playing anything.

I've always liked Alpine, but looking back every Alpine deck, and one of the amps, died what I would call prematurely. Meanwhile, I've never had a factory deck fail. Even 20 plus years old.

I have had excellent success with Alpine equipment. Over the years, I've installed over 10 head units in my cars as well as speakers and amps... All with zero failures. My 25 year old Alpine MDA-W890 still works!?! Conversely, I've had factory stuff fail. Maybe I'm lucky?

So the 650 is wired Android auto only.? The description alpine uses is a bit confusing.

I just got the alpine W650 and I love it but if I put the sound to loud it shuts off … how do I fix this

Read about audio clipping and you find your answer. You will need to add an external amplifier to reach your desired sound levels.

If I recall, the Alpine KTA-450 pairs nicely with the ilx-650.

But you can only get what fits in your vehicle. I have a 2018 Jeep JL. They say The 507 will not fit in it just the 407.

The ilx650 does indeed have Android auto! U forgot to add that in your checklist of features 😮

I have the ixl-650 & the software seems to deteriorate over time. When I receive calls, and I answer on my phone, the radio continues to ring. Android audio will disconnect and reconnect at random. Mic audio is sub par. It randomly has the on call screen when I play blue tooth audio It will play front speakers some times It won't play any audio some times A bad feature is that when on the phone it locks out everything including backup camera. I would rather deal with a Android radio from ebay for the price. I can barely use it. All these things happen on the same phone. Don't happen on any other radio.

I hate the fact that I need to repeatedly engage the parking brake in order to access the setup menu on my ILX-507.

The Alpine iLX-W670 has a 13-Band EQ so that is even more confusing, why go from 9 to 13 then to 5?

I have been using Alpine for years, But this time they played a dirty trick, if you buy just the HU your only getting half the radio, This thing clips out at between 20-25 of 35 on the volume scale, Thus forcing you to buy the additional power pack to get decent sound out of it. shame on you Alpine

@@ayman.ibrahim U can get the KPT455a specifically for Alpine. Or The KPT445U, which is universal.But both receivers will work with just about any Amplifier, I'm running off a pioneer amp , myself

hum- I have an ILX-650 - horrible rear camera video, colors totally bleached out with apple carplay. Tempted to pull a brand new unit and discard. If you want to upgrade to get apple car play and actually need the rear backup camera to back up into narrow places, this is not the unit for you. I don't have an android but hear it may work better with that.
