I don’t have any idea about bikes but I love watching RJ videos, I have seen many of Daily Observations and I freakin love them. And I also have learn some good things from his videos and it’s good to know the bikers are nice with each other specially with the other bikers.

That 790 looks and sounds fantastic!

Sounds like a great bike, RJ, although I hope it doesn't remove the Nuda from my viewing! Thanks for the scrupulously frank and detailed feedback on the 790. I'm sure they'll be aftermarket fixes for the lean hunt/surge issue, but it goes to show that you can't really trust the journos to be completely accurate as their ad-revenue depends on glossing over the drawbacks.

The hunting and surging is the same in the Duke 390. I just had to use the clutch to smooth out the ride at low speeds especially when filtering.

Ace review. The thrum sound is lovely, no doubt more decibels will improve it. That fueling issue, could be an excuse to ignore the 790 at least for a few months. Shame emission tests are still charades where certain road/rev speeds means ktm have probably tuned in troughs for it to pass.

Do you know if there's any remapping to fix the fuelling that goes on when they add an Akra pipe?

I am using JBL headphones and the quality of the exhaust sound is little bit muddy, but is very nice and deep sound, i must hear it in person so i can compare it better. Thank you for the video.

I know I am a bit one-sided cause I already bought the 790 and yeah it s a great bike so far but it s a bike which wasn't build for the city, but you'r right thats a point if you want to ride in the city. And one the best parts is the stock exhaust!

I think 44teeth did mentions some surging at low speed when they went through town in Gran Canaria. All in all pretty positive opinions on the bike from all the reviews I have read and watched!

Hey RJ, why do you need to switch modes to see the fuelling? Isnt there a regular fuelgeuge or what ever? I ride an Hornet 600 1999, so i have no fuelgauge at all >.

Do you still own it though? i still have my 2018, then again i dont live in london and can use most of the power so fuelling I've never thought to be an issue, it adds character and for town you just put it in street mode and its fine. I would like to try the 890 more spec'd out version.

8:13 RJ, is there any way to solve the issue of hunting (ECU reflash, for instance)? I'd buy this as my daily commuter, so that'd be a pretty serious problem to have...

This 'hunting and searching' you mentioned. Is this about fuel management and delivery? Is it a jerky ride because its trying to be fuel efficient?

I have same feeling with gears, works very smooth but you dont't feel it, and it's easy to miss neutral for the first time

Hey RJ tell us about your experience on KTM Duke 790

Ktm are notorious for running lean, I fitted a rapid bike easy on my 390 duke and it helped smooth out a lot of that mess.

Which do you prefer, the Husqvarna 900 or the Ktm 790?

what do you feel about the suspension system?

Should i get one as my first bike?

Why dont ktm change the mirrors they are using the same for all the duke series starting from 125cc

RJ your spot on, the fueling at 30 to 40 is awful, however The dealer where I rode one said the AKRO may sort this out, so I’m waiting for it to be fitted to there demo bike, keep the good work up, see u around town cheers.

Doubt it, it can actually make it worse, the only way it will sort out with an Akra is if you put a PCV and tune on a dyno

RoyalJordanian great Bike other than that, maybe they will issue a revised fueling map with the AKA, like Aprilia do on the Tuono 1100 V4 Factory, if the fueling could be sorted it would be my every day commuter, in stead of my 1290 Super Adv S 😃

Should I get this as my first bike?

That hunt & surge at no-load speeds is the main problem I have on my 2019 Duke 390. It's a that-grin-on-your-face bike everytime you twist the throttle, alas the bike has difficulty in keeping the same speed in city traffic.. I always thought it's somewhat inherent characteristics of the single-cylinder motor.

RJ, what is your opinion on speeding and speed limits?

Am I missing something about 2:40 or is that legal to use the right turn only lane to overtake and continue going straight?

Nothing to indicate no over taking, plus it was a safe overtake - all legal.

Hey RJ been a fan of your videos for quite a while now. You seem to get your hands on some of my favourite motorcycles. Just two questions how does it compare to the post 2015 Duke 690s seeing that you loved that too? I personally right now wouldn’t see myself upgrading to this. Should i?

Everyone is different and many people judge a bike by the specs, nothing gives you a better impression than a ride and the feeling the bike transmits through the seat/bars/pegs. To me, those first impressions are extremely important, It's almost like I don't want a bike that grows on me, I want a bike that impresses me from the get go.

Thanks for the response, that is a pretty damn good way to look at things!! One thing that i do really respect and love about KTM though is that they are always looking/willing to innovate and improve (essentially what won me over to the brand). Hopefully will get to try the 790 someday

does anyone consider this safe riding? I am curious as i ride like this as well but watching it and putting myself in a cops mind, is this weaving between cars considered slightly reckless or is this a safe way for everyone on the road?

Everybody outside his house takes certain and uncertain risks. When you display a really constant 360° awareness, you mostly can react in time. Important is not to get distracted by non-related things. Filtering demands very high awareness, but is doable, as RJ proves for a number of years now. Enjoy and ride safe.

I do commuting also with my Duke 790 in Berlin. But i am far far away from your driving Skills. I cant do that in Berlin. :) Respect!

Why haven't you added a cruiser motorcycle to your collection?

RJ waht did you do with the exhaust? did you take off the stock pipe and put 1 of your spare cans on or is it just open pipe no muffler?

Will be interesting to hear a de-dated and pipe sound. Sounds similar to the nuda kinda

Watched a lot of reviews of the 790 and there certainly have been complaints about the fueling while in and around town. A few of the reviewers said that Rain mode sorted this out. I would be very interested to find out if this is true as I am close to ordering a new 790 myself. Great video as always RJ. Cheers.

Great video Very informative. Question on the fueling I would be doing a lot of low speed commuting. In nyc. From 1-10. 1 would be a street triple with perfect fueling. 10 would be say a Fz09 with shit fueling. Where would you put this bike. I really love the bike but. I really hate Poor fueling on bikes

Never rode the two bikes you mentioned, you need to try it for yourself. It's not terrible but it depends on you, I'm over sensitive to fuelling issues, others may not be.

ktm motorcycles look amazing but those mirrors make me cringe so many better designs could have been used.

They had to cut down on costs somewhere... its one hell of a deal for the technology they put into this thing anyways. They probably produced like a million of them in 2007 or so and have to get rid of them now haha

It's once because of costs but in the First place because of them having to many of thous Mirrors laying around everywhere and just wanting to get rid of them.

What happened with the Zero test ride?, i'm looking forward for it.
