Common way mower shops and dealerships rip you off! Plus how to save $$$ buying a PTO clutch.

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Many times customers think something major or more serious is wrong with their mower. For example in this video the customer told me that he was afraid his engine had internal damage.
It ended up only being bad bearings in the pto clutch. Many shops, not all, would have taken the opportunity to charge for extra work and not do it based on the customers assumptions that something more serious was wrong.
Also, if you ever need a Warner brand pto clutch, which most mower brands use, you can saves hundreds of $$$ by ordering it directly from Warner.

Another great video thanks for the tips. Say, do you know of a place where you can get zero-turn dampers? I have a 2017 Toro TimeCutter HD with MyRide 54". Toro in Canada wants over $200 for them.

Thanks Steve, no I don't have any recommendations on dampers. Now that I'm working fully for myself I don't have a parts department to find stuff for me. I'd just try to look up what name and part is on the current ones you have.

I've got an issue with my Husqvarna YTH24K54 riding mower. It keeps kicking the belt on me. I've replaced all the spindles, pullies, blades and hardware on the deck along with the pto clutch. It's still kicking it off. Any suggestions?

Thanks for another great video. I would appreciate it if you could help me, again. My mower is a 17 yr old/450 hr Cub Cadet i1046. It runs good except for the problem I'm hearing. When I engage the PTO, there is a hesitation then it engages but sounds weak, like it slips a little bit. The "lower" DRIVE belt was replaced about 7 hrs ago. Is it your opinion that it is likely the PTO? And, may I lay this mower on the side or flip it vertical to replace the PTO, without oil spilling everywhere or experiencing some other problem? Thanks, very much, for your kind assistance.

You might have an oil leak that is letting oil get into the clutch. OR it's just worn out. I'd check to make sure all the spindles and pulleys on the deck are spinning easy and not in a bind. I wouldn't lay it on the side. I normally just jack the front up and use jack stands to hold it up.

Do not loctite that clutch bolt. Instructions say not to do it. Just use torque wrench only.

Many new clutch bolts come with red loctite already on the bolt.... I never use red loctite on them. Most of the time I use anti seize on the clutch bolt on models I've know have issues with the bolts backing out or weak lock washers from the factory. Instructions will vary depending on the manufacturer. They are humans too and believe me they make mistakes. Instructions will come out the next year saying to correct mistakes caused from previous instructions 🤣
