tomhess.net/Guitar If your vibrato doesn’t sound AWESOME like a pro, there are reasons why this is happening.
In this video, you’ll learn all the common problems guitar players have learning vibrato and how to FIX THEM ALL!
Here’s exactly what we’ll cover in this guitar lesson [...]
First, I’ll show you the most important aspect of guitar vibrato: getting the vibrato peaks and valleys (the vibrato pulse) to be consistent.
Second, when practicing vibrato do NOT start and stop and start and stop and start and stop. This is not the best way to practice vibrato on guitar.
Third, start off slow when practicing, but when you speed up, do NOT change anything in the way you play the vibrato (this is the number one mistake guitar players make when trying to learn and master vibrato on guitar.
Fourth, I’ll show you how to get the tone of the vibrato to be consistent. (this is very important in order to master vibrato)
Fifth, I’ll show you how to stay in time with the tempo and how to avoid the common mistake of playing out of time.
Sixth, you’ll learn to how to play vibrato with the beat or against the beat. In other words, how to synchronize the vibrato pulse with consonance or dissonance.
Seventh, I’ll give you the biggest secret to mastering vibrato: imagine the exact sound you want first, before you attempt to play vibrato!

I never realized why when I use to take in person lessons and I tried what was being taught as soon as I “thought” I understood I’d start playing that it would frustrate my teacher ,till now lol… I’m glad to see and now know why ,and that it actually stifled my learning by not listening thoroughly first …then process that info and THEN either implement it or ask questions so I am sure I understand the lesson before running off half cocked …also glad in this realization that as painful as it is to watch and know I did the same on many occasions , I’m not the only one who has done this lol.

My playing has always lacked consistency, and my vibrato is definitely a weak point. This is a very helpful start to fixing this, and I wish I knew this years earlier. Hopefully I get there one day.

The one around 10:30 he was improving. Tom has some great advice, even for advanced players! I’ve been playing for 30 years and ran into a roadblock with speed and Tom’s advice got me over that hump. (Thanks by the way) A lot of vibrato is a hear it , feel it kind of thing. You gotta put some emotion into it and just noodle around, don’t over think it, you’ll get it. Listen to some John Sykes😉
