The guy who pointed out that a silencer doesn't silence a gunshot is right, but his point is irrelevant. Silencers dampen a gunshot and make it sound more like a strong pop or gush of air flowing as opposed to the usual bang of a gunshot. But when we hear the gunshot in the show, it is clearly a bang like one would hear from an unsuppressed weapon, so it still couldn't be Skinner.

I really like videos like this, because it sheds light on how stupid, and reactionary the KZread comment section is. Also, how a ton of people will just blatantly ignore things presented in a video, and present their opinion as fact. It's like if you attend a seminar on how cheese is made, and at the end you say "actually, cheese is made from milk."

The suppressor would prove it couldn't have been Skinner. Yes, REALISTICALLY depending on the gun, the suppressor, and the distance the hearer was, you may still hear it as the weapon is simply less loud. However, regardless the level of noise, the sound a suppressed weapon would make is noticeably different from a weapon without a suppressor. People would remark on how weird or not normal the gunshot sounded if it was done with Skinner's handgun. However the number 1 thing that makes all this useless and still disproves Skinner is that not everyone knows this. I doubt the writers would know or even care about the realism behind a suppressed handgun.

20:41- on the DVD release of Clue, they actually give you the option on whether or not you wanted to see a random ending each viewing or show you all three endings back to back. (I saw all three back to back on my first viewing)

The thing I love with the “Watch pt. 2 to understand” is one of the biggest parts of the episode was if you guessed it correctly BEFORE pt. 2 you got to be in the show, so basically those people are saying “Just travel into the future to find out!”

It's not a hollywood invention it's True. But their not wrong it's called a suppressor though. Unless they call it a silencer in the UK. But anyways suppressors suppress the sound and make it less if a bang and more of a air woosh.

A third of that was me rewatching it every time it was recommended

plus Homer could'e been metioning an offscreen event where he shot mr burns and not necesarily about the actual episode also Mr Burns himself names Maggie as the shooter, not Homer, unless Homer somehow managed to tamper with Mr Burns memory somehow via magic

Silencers don't silence guns, but they DO muffle the sound. The gun isn't completely silenced, but there is significantly less sound. Unless you were, like, a few feet away, you wouldn't hear a supressed gun go off.

I started following you right as you shifted into this new format and I'm personally enjoying it. Donald vs Daffy is still one of my faves because I loved watching movie on VHS and I was so fascinated to learn about that niche history.

I think the point of the empty holster wasn't to rule out characters with guns so much as stop you from ruling out characters without guns. *** I agree that, regardless of where you fall on the issue of Apu, it's so completely OOC for Lisa to dismiss it out of hand that it's clear she's just a mouthpiece. By having the character they always use to explore inconvenient topics shut down all discussion of an inconvenient topic, they sent a very clear message that this isn't up for debate.

It strikes me that a lot of the comments, like how it might not have been his gun, it could've still been a silenced weapon we heard etc, completely failed to realise that everything in an animation like the Simpsons by virtue of how it's made is deliberate. It's not a handful of modular 3D assets being assembled and some things providing odd hints by accident. It's hand-drawn animation frames. Accidental visuals have to be far more distinct. Drawing an empty holster doesn't happen by accident - forgetting an entire holster and weapon and just drawing the default character does. Silencers don't fully muffle a gunshot, but it does markedly change the sound to something that sounds much less like a gun going off. If they had meant it to be a silenced weapon, then the audio would have reflected that.

I'm not saying that the gun being missing was an accident in this case, but those kinds of mistakes happen in animation. I'm currently (well obviously not this very second) re-watching an old Saturday morning cartoon series and you wouldn't believe some of the bloopers I've noticed. Like, an entire character being missing from a scene they're obviously supposed to be in. One guy's face is missing from his head for like five frames, just long enough for you to notice. Etc.

A lot of comments were like nitpicking using real life concepts, when it is like a Hollywood and not rooted in reality so silencers are completely silenced and the gun missing means the killer didn’t have one. If it was completely realistic, the sundial probably would’ve meant nothing

The first time I saw this episode was in syndication in the early to mid 2000s probably around 2005ish and they only played Part 2. So I wasn't invested in the mystery I was just like "Maggie Shot him? Oh okay that's funny"

I've rewatched the How To Solve Who Shot Mr Burns video multiple times... as well as the Donald vs Daffy video :)

I think something to remember is that, in a work of fiction, things don't happen on accident. If a character says something or the camera shows something, that's information someone deliberately chose to put there. If this were reality we'd have to consider the possible reasons Mr. Burns could have lost his gun, but if a mystery story shows a man who had a gun, was shot with a gun, and no longer has his gun... I dunno, maybe the solution to the puzzle is that the culprit used the victim's gun?

On the being able to hear the pacifier sucking part; I heard a BRIEF suck of the pacifier, but it could have just as easily been part of Burns' own struggle.

The main thing that confused me was that you said it was solvable by it’s own, but like half the evidence was from episodes prior to it.

That was more to show *us* what he meant. The WS(MS upside down) the missing gun, Maggie's expression during the trial, knowing Burns location, and who was there(Car park,Maggie and Marge) and ruling out Marge by us seeing her while hearing the gunshot. It's all solvable in the one episode.

The "HTSWSMB" video did indeed show up in my Recommended column, but I've remembered Eddache since the Newgrounds days with Edd Egg. Anyone remember that? ...Why do I feel so old right now?

The only time I ever say "skip to #:##" in the comments of any video (not just yours), is when it's to skip an ad.

A lot of times i like to put your video essays, or other videos from creators i know and like, in in the background of doing things just to have a friendly voice talking while I do stuff with my hands. So i think a lot of other people might do the same. I think I've "watched" who shot mr burns four or five times now, But I've only paid active attention to it once or twice

About the lisa and apu thing, lisa isn't saying "what's fine back then should be fine now" she saying "we want to fix this but we dont know how, and we probably will ignore it". And she says the line with sadness not contempt, which i think really elevates her point. How do you fix a character that had 20 years of development yet still angered people? What can do?

Interestingly enough the TV release of Clue gave all endings and made you wonder which was true. Imagine if Simpsons did a multi ending leaving us to decide instead of one true ending.

Want to know what I think would’ve been funny? If, on the day part 2 was supposed to air, they announce it won’t be aired and instead show a 22 minute Itchy & Scratchy cartoon! “You’ve waited all summer long to find out who shot Mr Burns. NOW, the conclusion to the mystery... WILL NOT BE SEEN TONIGHT, so we can bring you this presentation!” When part 2 eventually does air, Chief Wiggum would interrupt Mr Burns’ “The one who shot me was...” by asking “Hey, did anyone see that Itchy & Scratchy special?”

to comment on people rewatching the video multiple times, this is something I’m guilty of and I couldn’t pin point an EXACT reason on why I do it, maybe its because I want more eddache content but I’ve already seen all your videos, maybe its a symptom of hyperfixation since I do have ADHD and can find myself fixated on the smallest things like a tone of voice or a second of animation, but also sometimes I guess its just fun to go back and experience a piece of content again with a singe of hindsight.

Please make more stuff like who shot mr burns!!

How did you make showing people that they're wrong so good?

I always imagined that Homer was the one to kill Burns instead of Maggie cause of how from one second Krusty was wearing a different outfit and the next second he was wearing his signature outfit, but notice the face, it looks more like Homer’s face as there's no bags under the eyes, I mean it could be an animation error, or they wanted to go through with trying to end the series with Homer going to jail after framing Krusty for the shooting but didn't have the balls to do it.

Burns not understanding who Homer is is such a good running gag

Something in your video that I never got was how you eliminated Homer because Mr Burns didn’t recognize him. Even if he didn’t know Homer’s name, he still saw him earlier in the episode. He literally got mad at him. Even if he wouldn’t know who Homer is, he’d still recognize his appearance.

Now it has 2M!

People say video views don't matter, but that's such a weird argument. Isn't the entire point of KZread to be viewed? Anyways, congrats on the 1 million! I love your channel.

I recall hearing the sound effect of Maggie sucking on her pacifier when I watched the 'Who Shot Mr. Burns' episodes as a child as well. Maybe it was added in for different regions. Living in Australia as I do, it's likely what I saw was not the version at time of release in America. So it could've been an edited version for my region. Curious.
