I like Adrian, he's quiet and unassuming... but when it comes to electronics and diagnostics, he has about an 8 foot swagger. hehehe

@KorAllRBare Did you catch the panel discussion from Vintage Computer Fest Chicago, where Adrian is asked about his education/training and describes being essentially self-taught, by watching other youtube channels? #Epic
If Apple present a product that 'isn't working that well' to the public eyebrows will be raised, if a project like this is shown it's a massive 'shows your thinking' and you're only going to get a huge amount of encouragement and praise for your efforts so far.
Adrian is a great guy and probably one of the most talented ones on earth about diagnosis retro computers. I follow his channel since last year and it's amazing to see him in action troubleshooting and repairing old computers, some of them in really bad conditions. It's great to know he is on-boarded in this project. Looking forward to see more progress and hopefully, one day, being able to get a unit of this great computer.
Sometimes you need another set of eyes to look at the problem. Been there way to many times myself. Very happy about the progress!
Oh I REALLY hope Adrian does a video on this
I'm glad that Adrian was able to help you out - I've been subscribed to his channel for years and it really does seem like he can fix just about anything. Looks like were getting closer to the point where I can start saying 'SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!'
Can't wait till this is available publicly. Can wait till the bugs are all hashed out though. Seriously looking forward to getting one of these pre-built and loaded to the hilt. I miss 1980's style computers and the old ones are only going to be around for so long. Something new like this will be nice to have and last me till I fall over dead hopefully.
Great to hear things progressing! Agreed, Adrian has MAD SKILLS when it comes to diagnosing and fixing these things. I'm not even an electronics guy but am always glued to his videos -- it helps that he explains things in a way that ppl like myself can follow along.
Adrian shed some light on yo lil project here.. So I subbed..

Wow kinda cool 😎 that bill herd helped out on this, actual engineer from back in the commodre days
Keep up the good work! I'm super excited to see where this project goes.
(Cue Rocky Voice)... YO ADRIAN, YOU DID IT !!
SpaceX's SN8, those dancing robots, self-driving cars...and the Commander X16 give me hope for the future! =P
This video and computer were awesome i can't wait to see and find out more best of luck to you and your team making this machine!!
I'm so glad Adrian was able to help get you back on track!
Nice project, waiting to buy final product soon. Greetings from Karachi, Pakistan.
I think you need to get Adrien on the team! For real! Like right now!
Looks so great!
Cool! Tetris! Awesome! Can't wait to get my hands on one of these!
My wishlist for Your consideration: - CPU: W65C816S (faster, no ram banking, more advanced architecture, lot of ram and minimal rom just for bios/bootstrap) - sound entirely generated on Vera FPGA board for cost reduction - no IEC for cost reduction - support for arcade type joystics too (better than the snes type controller for arcade-like games) - fast DMA blitter for moving big chunks of data around in ram freeing the CPU
Adrian is a awesome guy.
I could actually see the high memory banking being used for a Graphical OS to have a form of multitasking, at least with smaller programmes.
Awesome!!
for me Adrian is really smart guy. I like watching videos on his channel a lot.
Adrian sent me! Glad the X16 is on its way!
Those beautiful bodge wires
Here's another fan hoping Adrian does a video about this
Very interested in that traveller trader game for the x16.
Mad respect for what you are doing. I don't however understand why? Is it nostalgia? Because the mountain is there? It's cool what you are doing.

You're correct, my apologies. I had picked out a few songs, and looking through my notes, I did completely grab the wrong name. Fixing it now.
There an "Outpost Trader"? Neat! I bet a lot of old BBS games are practical to port.
i would really love to see robot knights on this machine i absolutely loved that game on the 65XE
In this world it`s not "Can it run Crysis" but Tetris instead ;)
Here's an idea: 6502-based CPUs have ran BASIC for ages - since this is a whole new computer system created in this modern era, how about code a simple Python interpreter into the ROM? That would result in an awesome mix of old and new. Aside that, great work, looking forward to the system being finished!

While this is not the target for this system, it will certainly have plenty of ROM space remaining for any number of kernal-type mods. The main ROM chip is an SST39SF040, and is writeable. We haven't tested it yet, but you should be able to write the ROM from the system. Taking precautions of course. :-) (May have to slow the system to 4MHz to write, not sure yet, but the write timing may be a little too slow for 8MHz.)
Adrian sent me over 👍
I'm late to the party. Came here from Adrian's Basement and only just found out about the CX64. Not too sure what it is, but seems to be an all-in-one hardware emulator for all the old 8-bit machines back in the day! Although has some beefed up spec's looking at it. I'm looking forward to seeing this project finish as depending on price and actual functionality, I'd be interested in this. I miss my Amstrad CPC days and software emulators are OK and good, but its not the same thing.
"Fnord Prefect" ..... (laughs) "Hitchhikers guide to The Illuminati" ;)
Waiting for the final version then...shut up and take my money!
are the ISA slots fully compatible with ISA cards?
Did you mean the Chickenlips 16?
So what was the issue?

Try to figure it out by tracing the bodge wires. 😁
@StevenIngram
3 жыл бұрын
Having followed Adrian's channel for a while now and seeing how he works. I'd bet the problem originated with the chip that has a second chip stacked on top of it with the legs bent out. The bodge wires seem to radiate from there and come full circle back to there ending on another pin (perhaps routing around on a trace on the board?). But, this is all conjecture. :) I don't have a schematic to even know what that chip is. hehehe :D

Who wrote the chess game. Was it ported from some existing code or written fresh? I didn't see the machine castle, EVER, so I'm wondering how strong the game really is.
Am a ADB , 8But guy subscriber and a massive fan on Mr Fractic.... looking forward to getting my hands on one of these beauties...
Will it run at 16 MHz? It should...
also this thing will need some really nice gui

what can you computer do
But, will it run Crysis?
