Not saying it's a bad thing but, this game showed again why staples (Craterhoof and Smothering Tithe (and Rhystic)) are so good.

I mean some cards are differnt power levels that what the RC dont understand, especially when they are banning cards ( like golos ) etc.
Hazezon doing work! That was a fun one to watch. Sheoldred is so oppressive, that life loss really adds up. So many fun commanders from this set, would love to see Ratadrabrik, Astor, Meria, Jhoira, Shanna, Zur… the list goes on! Thanks for the great content!
You get my up vote because the cat is just too adorable.
New set! New commanders! New video! What more could we ever even ask for?!
Very interested in ivy, so glad to see it.
I like your format, the short form Commander gameplay - I don't always want to watch a 90 minute long commander gameplay video. Also the narration and explanation are very good. Miss a bit of the table banter but that's why you watch the long form stuff I guess.
Great video! love the commentary and Meatball.
I really enjoy the comedic commentary. Keep up the great work! If you guys ever play on spelltable, would love to play with you sometime. Seem like a fun bunch, especially mr. Narrator.
I want to see a cat deck with a meatball proxy

Funny you mention that…
the desert deck just appears to be so damn good. the red/green/white just seems to be an amazing color pairing. giving so much token themed utility and a lot of removal just for doing things you want to do (making tokens).
I always love the meatball appearances 🥰

Yeah he’s pretty great right? Super cute chonk
Glad to see a Hazezon deck pull through. My name is Desert, so of course I had to build Hazezon when I saw him, but mine isn't super powerful so I'm currently upgrading him slowly. I don't have the biggest MTG budget, so I'm getting the expensive cards slowly. I've only just realized that I can buy the staples and then proxy the hell out of them, so I'm working on building up my library of staple cards. Currently have some good ones in the mail. Up next, I'm planning on Azusa, Craterhoof, Annointed Procession, Teferi's Protection, and Purphoros. Probably not all at once, haha. And apparently Aura Shards goes hard, so I guess I have to add that to the list. Also, well done on the video. Good editing, good commentary, very engaging. Earned my subscription :) Also also, Meatball is my favorite. I love him very much.
Crafting a Hazeon deck of my own, and after watching that, definitely going to be putting aura shards in, so much fun watching that deck pop off.
Videos are normally great ...but this one with the 'extra' witty voice over is amazing!! Lol
very fun thanks!
Cards like stifle and torpor orb shut down dockside extortionist and craterhoof behemoth. Run cards like krosan grip,beast within,songs of the dryad,feed the swarm and pharika's libation.
Also love the new Jodah already building it
Great video! I'd like to see a Rith deck in the future
Look at those graphics, high quality production 👍

Loved the video, would love to see the new Zur as a commander. Not many people seem to play him tho.
this is almost like listening to a game of magic on the radio...
I built a Braids deck, haven't been able to play it yet though. I would love to see one of your guys take on her vs mine.
I would love to see your take on a non stax version of Meria, Scholar of Antiquity.
Nice! Do the new Xira next

For those of yaw that complain about smothering tithe and rhystic study. The answer is simple run more answers in your deck to deal with problematic cards. There are plenty of cheap and effective ways to deal with these common staples.
Jesus guy had it out for the Ivy player real bad
Great card draw engine by Ivy but def some miscasts on his part Sheoldred is a must kill for that deck And he used some good spells for bad reasons Would love to see that deck used again

Wasn't sure if crypt ghast could be played in mono black because of the split cost in the activated ability. Gonna have to make a Vito or Sheoldred deck for sure I love that card.

Жыл бұрын
I remember looking this up a year ago, by rules the only thing on the card that is subject to colour identity is the black pip. Extort is something the card enables you to do. Very key point is that inside the parentheses ( ) is reminder text like the text for storm or cascade. Even though it clearly has a white / black pip in the reminder text, its simply a reminder not the cost for what the ability does.
@bluntx123

@@marcvanoverberghe5493 Awesome thanks for the clarification! It will make adding cards to future decks easier for me.
@mostlycasualcommander
Жыл бұрын
Yes! Just as Marc mentioned, Crypt Ghast has reminder text showing a W/B mana pip. This is not to be confused with color identity, which wouldn't be in parentheses. BK has a vito deck too! Fun stuff.
I'd like to see someone play Cadric, Soul Kindler.

Cool idea! Seems neat to make a bunch of tokens. We'll take a look!
Laelia says "one or more". So only one +1/+1 counter for each effect exiling something from the library or the graveyard. ; )
@A3Nargi
9 ай бұрын
I am not a rules lawyer so I'm not 100% certain of the exact definition but I do know that it does work the way they explain in the video. It has to do with the fact that when you exile a card from the top of your library, each card is seen as a single iteration. Not as a lump sum. If it's stated to exile an exact number of cards then that would quantify the one or more clause. But because it states to exile until a particular card is revealed, each card is an individual exiled trigger for Laelia. I had to have a judge sit down and explain it to me. It's goofy, but it works
Laylia say one or more cards. So if you exile 10 cards at once it’s still only 1 +1 conter
subscribing because of meatball
Laelia is "one or more," not a counter for each card exiled.
MEATBALL
Personally, I just put the dice on Jodah to represent the pump effect. No need to complicate it, especially when other creatures have counters on them.
I have some questions about J Man's Ivy build. Is there a way I can reach him?

@mostlycasualcommander
Жыл бұрын
Yeah he’s pretty cool!
question, are you allowed an "extort" card in mono color??
@mostlycasualcommander
Жыл бұрын
Hi there! Yes you are. The thing to take note of is that the extort ability itself does not have hybrid mana in a cost. The hybrid mana symbol is within the reminder text (inside the parentheses), so it doesn't impact color identity. Have a good day!
I didn't know that grasping dunes can go infinite with Hazezon! Shaper of sands is putting in work!!!
Why is Chris playing Jodah, the Archmage in that deck. There's barely any cards that would benefit from his effect. It's just a wasted slot imo
There as never been a time where I haven't thought that Aura Shards is the absolute worst and 100% deserves a ban
Love the angry edit for Eidolon for people who need to be petty about pronunciations from the comment section.
I don't typically comment on youtube, but I'm feeling compelled to: I really liked the gameplay & editing of this video. The gameplay was fun, the decks all did a thing, and it felt like the players all enjoyed themselves in-game. Further, the editing helped keep track of all the varying triggers while remaining subtle & honestly kind of cute to see them pop up all over the place. Also, getting to hear some of the in-game convos is always a lovely touch & having speech bubbles appear to represent which person is talking was brilliant. As a newer-ish player, this all helped keep my engagement in the video, and helped bring me that LGS feel. But the reason why I feel so compelled to write a comment is my dislike for how the video presents "Guest Chris". It felt passive-aggressive how the narration pointed out all of Chris's tendencies that were atypical to your playgroup. I don't know how your videos are shot or how you get a group together (this is my first video of yours I've ever watched actually), but if y'all don't know Chris very well then I would feel kind of poorly if I was Chris watching this video. Further, as a viewer, it just plain makes me feel uncomfortable. This would normally be enough in preventing me from subscribing or watching more of your content, but the editing & remaining narration has so much care placed into it that I absolutely want to continue giving y'all a chance. And please if I'm just being overly sensitive and y'all actually know Chris & it's chill then please absolutely ignore my comment & i'm sorry for being a snowflake. but in that case next time I guess I would like the humour to be more cognizant that it's taking digs at another person. Cheers~

Hi there! Thanks for the feedback. We are glad you enjoyed those elements and appreciate that you subscribed. Chris has been a welcomed part of our playgroup for some time now. He is appreciated very much. The “jabs” at him in this video are playful in nature and it was quite literally his idea to be called guest Chris during it. The playful and sarcastic comments/humor made during this video are a small sliver of how our playgroup is together, we have a ton of laughs and all enjoy each other’s company very much. I hope this helps shed some of that discomfort. Please let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks again for your support

@@ZachtheUnbowed I'm sure they will... But as you can see the deck slaps. It recovers very quickly from board wipes and since you ramp recasting Hazezon is no problem. And I have a deck with him that is similar. 16 desserts is enough, even with 1/2 being colorless. So many ways to fix mana in Naya. This deck showed using the deserts ability is great... But even if you can't do that using something to sacrifice it then bringing it back is also crazy.

Rhystic Study is a “may” ability. You don’t have to draw cards off it if you don’t want to. Does that help?
every time I see my favorite commanders they do fuck all and then die lmao. ivy, tivit, teysa... all fun decks I win frequenly with but somehow every youtube commander game is like "turn 4 and I have not cast my 2 mana commander, I have 0 protection spells, and no buffs to speak of... but I have rhystic study!" its so weird
Interestingly enough, usage dictates pronunciation, so it is just as valid to pronounce it eye-duh-LAWN.

A 4 player turn based game card game with a 100 cards each and it ends after 15minutes? That has got to be a boring one-sided lame game with such a high probability I am not going to waste my time watching it.

Hello there, thanks for the comment! Our videos are usually 20 minutes or less because they are edited and narrated. We understand if that’s not of interest to some viewers, but when we play our games, they usually take about an hour or so in real time. Afterwards we edit them so that people can watch a whole game of commander on their lunch break at work, for instance. Have a nice day.
Looked up ei·do·lon /īˈdōlən/ right after you said that... Now I'm super irritated that I've been saying it wrong for...ever. But now I can be irritated at other people who say it wrong from here on out! 😁👍
