Commandant Gen. Neller Addresses Online Behavior

What we say and do each day represents who we are, there is no time off for marines. We are all-in 24/7, and if that commitment to excellence interferes with your me time or if you can't or are unwilling to commit to contributing 100% to our corps' warfighting ability by being a good team mate and improving cohesion and trust, then I have to ask you: "Do you really want to be a Marine?"

The Commandant NAILED IT. I agree 100% with his statements. When you lessen a brother or sister Marine, you lower the standard of the Corps. Teamwork is what has gained us victory throughout our history. We must not waiver now because a small contingent cannot control their personal habits. Straighten up or get out.

I do not agree. Some of those WM's may have done what you say, but others stated they didn't know they were being photographed, perhaps by a hidden camera, and were not happy to have ANY picture of themselves posted online. Your paint brush is too broad and inclusive to match reality. Laptop built-in cameras can be "hacked" by some unscrupulous people with the necessary expertise, so someone can remotely see what is in line of view for the lens without the person who owns it intentionally snapping an image of herself.

WoW. It's a huge privilege and honor send a part of my heart to Marine Boot Camp, PI, SC. Remember, It's NOT just the solider, IT'S THE WHOLE FAMILY THAT IS SERVING. TAKE CARE OF ALL OF OUR SERVICE FAMILIES 1ST AND FOREMOST BEFORE ALL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. Anyways, The toughest job in the Marine Corps/bootvcamp(all the phases) is the position of his/her Mother who gave birth to her flesh and blood baby, raise her baby to her best of ability. After all, the Lord uses Women to give birth to babies. 2 Moms of Marine's have shared their testimonies with me. General, as a proud Marine veteran, I have strived to uphold the core values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment throughout my life since they were instilled upon me when I enlisted in 1997. As a result, I have experienced great success in my career and strong bonds of companionships in my personal life; I owe everything I have and everything I have become to the Marine Corps. The actions of these "marines" bring shame and dishonor to the country they have sworn to protect and their fellow marines. I thank you for your leadership in combatting these despicable acts and I vow to do my part as a veteran by representing my beloved Corps in the manner in which my leaders taught me. Godspeed on your mission to stamp out this unacceptable behavior by those that have clearly forfeited their right to claim the title of "Marine". Semper Fidelis, -- Barry Wile

I spent 4 years in the Marines from 85-89. I owe my success in life to the lessons and drive that I acquired in the Corps. I am forever grateful to the person they developed in me. Now I see this. Marines preying on other Marines. This type of sh!t was never tolerated. I've seen Marines thrown out for way less than this. All I can think to myself is, WTF happened to the Corps? General Neller, I agree with you 100%. BUT, behind the scenes, you must let the hounds loose. This must be dealt with using the utmost urgency. It cannot be taken lightly and under the veil of privacy. Those who are still in the Corps must be found and dealt in a public manner befitting the crimes they have committed against their own.

I always liked watching his videos and seeing that this fine officer is so genuine and so caring. This is a what you see is what you get type of guy. Nothing phony, pretentious, or self serving. That in the Grunt Company level every member of the unit should be able to use every weapon in the Company including the Mortars and the 60 Cal machine gun. I think that Mattis and Neller will do their best to get at the perps with the UCMJ and out them by NAME, one by one...as many of these guys are actually mere cowards...bullies. I know there are some wonderful Marines out there, but there are obviously cowardly misogynistic officers in the chain of command who have encouraged the other dishonorable ones. Normal good men who have had a good family life and who have had good parental training are out there. This will take real leadership to stand tall and speak out. Hopefully too the NCIS, wonderful Purple Heart recipient Marine journalist Brennan and the brave female Senators will slowly NAME NAMES...especially any cowardly officers ( active or retired). Perhaps for those crazies, we might find a place for them in an all-men place with bars....where creeps like that would show them a thing or two.

Oh that "me time" is a bitch for some people. I don't recall having much of it until I retired. Anywhere from 10 to 12 hour days at work made me time limited to not to much time off. Being a Marine is a calling and if you can't conduct yourself as such, get the fuck out.

Gen. Neller, How about you have some dignity and respect for the USMC and speak out against females joining infantry units? This will spell the end of the USMC as a viable fighting force as we know it. Integrating women into infantry units will serve as nothing more than a distraction and a serious liability, all while destroying unit cohesion. If you truly cared about protecting the USMC's legacy, you would resign as a form of protest. - 1/1 and 2/1 Marine, 0311 from 2007-2011. Semper Fucking Fi
