Comedian's zoo joke voted funniest one-liner at Edinburgh Fringe
Comedian Lorna Rose Treen has won this year's Dave Funniest Joke Of The Fringe award with a one-liner from her stand-up show.
"I started dating a zookeeper - but it turned out he was a cheetah," beat gags about inflation, being British and coffee.
Treen told Sky News she was shocked to win the coveted award at her first Edinburgh Fringe.

It's a joke as old as time. I honestly can't believe the joke was voted the best. I can't imagine how bad the other acts were when a standard dad joke wins the best joke.
I dated a human zookeeper but he turned out to be a big cat (oh and cheetah sounds like cheater) 😑
People are offended at almost everything these days. It's pathetic that the "best" joke at the Fringe is deemed to be a childish badly written one-liner that isn't worthy of inclusion in a Christmas cracker.

Can't believe this year's choice is some form of (increasingly ludicrously named) "affirmative action". I guess it must be " the way she tells 'em".
Clearly not a great deal of competition.

Not this girls fault, but if this version of a simple school playground pun is the best that 100’s of comedians at the worlds most popular arts festival can come up with then comedy is truly stuffed and sterile to the point of banality. Oh…..it is.

To be fair, absurdity is the essence of humour.
There were zwei peanuts walking down the der strasse. Und one was assaulted... peanut!
That joke is about as feeble as it gets. Tim Vine has a 1000 better jokes.
It has become the Edinburgh Cringe.

Polite "ha!" to not offend the joke teller, this is really not funny. Not even junior school humour. Does anyone even watch Dave anymore?

@@daveh322 The competition iirc is that the jokes are written down and they are judged solely based on that alone without delivery. Now that has positive and negatives as a system but one of the positives is that the winner is basically never chosen by some popularity contest otherwise it would be one of the same 5 comics that would win every year.
