We sung it for All State circa 2008 and it has been etched into my memory forever! 😂
You never seem to hear the works of Dello Joio as much as other contemporary composers. I absolutely love his work. His harmonies are hauntingly beautiful.
One of the most hauntingly beautiful and heartbreaking love songs I've ever heard. LOVE IT!
This song and all it's profound chords hit me in the soul every time
This song randomly came to mind today. Brings me to my years in choir. i miss it so much. This song gives me chills
One of the greatest songs ever composed
I finally found the version of this poem I wanted!! Hauntingly beautiful ❤
As a lifetime multi-instrumentalist and a lover and performer of all genres, this one is always at the top of my list :)

One alto... who doesn't cover their [i] vowel... is all I could hear after 00:55 and 1:11 was that one voice coming out of the texture. Everything else is superb! The ONLY reason I stopped here to comment is because this happens to be one of my very favorite choral works.
I'm not sure that I agree with the conducting choices made.
