I think one thing that hasn't changed much in 10 years is the joy of singing together. They still have that "we're brothers of other mothers" vibe.

I agree with you they have grown but i think the big difference between the 2 versions are that on the sing-off the producers wanted all songs to be focused on Austin or Tim and now they decide who sings what

Understand why you say you prefer the recorded version vs. live. Let me just say, I used to believe that too... until they stole my soul at a live concert! 😮 I'm still recovering? As great as they are with their videos, or tv shows, nothing can prepare you for hearing them truly live!!! It's mind blowing!!!

Great reaction. The party bus location and the ending of the song took place in Nashville, Tennessee. If you look in the background you can see the Bell South Building better known as the Batman Building.

This song was the one that made me love these boys. I really miss Tim’s bass solo but I get why they redid it without… but let me just say this… this was the first time I had ever heard a bass like that, so always will be deep in my heart.

I think a better comparison would be the album they released right after winning on The Sing-Off, Crazy Life with the one they're releasing at the end of March, Crazy(er) Life. These are the same songs done 10 years apart.

At one point Austin said how much fun it would be to be in a party bus driving up & down Broadway (in Nashville) blaring out their own music! At the end of the video, their scooters wind up near a large building with a curved front. Yes, the lens used was probably a wide angle, but the building, the Country Music Hall of Fame, does have a curved front. Prophecy?

I also think there was a big push to showcase Austin as lead on the Sing Off..so most likely the mics were adjusted so his voice would come in more prominently..so you don’t hear Rob or Chris come through..

Home Free refers to Darren as the 6th member of Home Free. I know he does some filler backing voices sometimes. I’ve seen his name on the album credits and have hears Home Free mentions that in Q&A’s.

I liked when they did this as their first competition song on The Sing-Off, and even though at the time I doubted it could get even better, they've proved me happily wrong 🤣

I think this song is why Tim gave Austin such a hard time about rapping in "Guilty Pleasures derailed." Plus this was the first song in the SingOff competition. It sounded soooo smooth and polished compared to most of the other groups and if they were nervous, they covered them well. They went on to "Life is a Highway," then "Ring of Fire," then "Pretty Woman," then "Colder Weather," and finally "I Want Crazy." They came out swingin' and never slowed down or looked back. By the time they got to "Ring of Fire," it was a race for second place. And party "bus-"es like this run up and down the main street of Nashville at all hours of the day and night. I also agree with other comments about the live vs recorded. Love to listen to them and their recorded versions are spot on. But you just can't duplicate the spontaneous sound, energy, and sense of humor in the live versions. They kill it!

One of the things I love about these comparisons is that in The Sing Off it is Chris and Adam Rupp, Rob, Tim and Austin but in the new versions Chris is (obviously) replaced by Chance. The choices they make show how different the two singers are and I absolutely love that. I really enjoy these comparison videos that the Home Fries are giving us, it's amazing to see them grow. Thank you for this one Teri, really appreciate being able to watch DJ react to this one. Thank you for this reaction too DJ! Pretty sure it was Tim doing both the high and low parts on his verse--or maybe Chance took over the low notes for that section. They both have incredible ranges. Awesome reaction, dude. Sometime go back to the old ones and watch the judges reactions, you (mostly) won’t be disappointed.

So good. Love both versions. Upgrading the song as they upgrade the vehicles. The only thing I missed is Tim doing his part alone in the new version. I know you liked Austin singing with Tim but he drowned him out to my ear. It’s still good. Good one DJ!😄🤩

Love both versions, but being I was watching and became a fan back then, I see the growth and maturity in their music as well as their sound. Even more so since Chance joined. I will always love Chris Rupp (still do). It seems the sound from the group has really evolved. Love them! DJ, loved your reaction and you are so right about Adam with the “Come on!”. It was excellent! I’m just happy to made an album of re-covers from their time on the Sing Off! Waiting on my album bundle with the vinyl album, the CD and a photo book.

Funny fact unrelated to the music itself, but I've heard that you Aussies call those huge lifted trucks like the (I think) GMC Sierra they were driving in this video "Yank Tanks" since they're usually American. I can't stop calling them that now, and I'm American. That or "pavement princesses" since they're basically useless, but look cool.

I will probably get hate for saying this, but since every song of new releases have been Mainly Austin led, i would have loved to have seen Tim get to keep his solo part in this song. Just my opinion
