Disney was so impressed with this that they hired them to do it at a private event. They had to do a LOT of rehearsing and a little rearranging. Doing it live without the layering required a ton of practise. Someone caught it on a cell phone, visual is not good, sound is also not good, but it's in my Voiceplay Live playlist! The behind the scenes video is hysterical. You'll love it, if you have access. If I Were a Rich Man/Girl next, Ashley's featured there too!

Fun fact: The type of singing where different parts of a song is layered on top of each other in that way is called a Madrigal. And the family's last name is Madrigal..

My favorite bit goes to Eli. He looks and sounds so joyour and hopeful when he sings, "He told me all of my hair"--and then so crushed and deflated when he finishes the line, "would disappear". Love it!

We can all thank Cesar for Ashley being in the videos, because when he began with the group he mentioned Ashley to them, and her first video was If I were a Rich Man/ Girl. She is very talented and has been in about 4 videos including their newest one. I understand through headphones their mix is better than the movie version. I haven't tried it though

Ashley is the one who talked Geoff into the costume change. She ordered 2 sizes via catalog to make sure one of them fit. Then set about convincing Geoff that the bigger outfit (both shorts and shirt) would be great for the chameleon character. When I found VoicePlay, Hoist the Colours was my first and this was my second VP video (Geoff's Monster Mash solo was my first exposure to music on KZread!). I sat there thinking "Where on earth did this come from and why hadn't I heard of it before. But I love VoicePlay's video of this - it just makes me happy and keeps me laughing.

Ashley is a friend of Cesar, and also from Puerto Rico. She plays a big part in If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. And Desar does sometims sing in Spanish. I seem to remember it in We're Good. Layne has a soft gentle voice, always. :) And of course Geoff is the shape shifter in this. :) And it turned out that he's only one size bigger than Ashley :) And it's Layne who is the Carrot Lord.

This was so incredibly done that your eye teeth went temporarily blind and couldn't see what they were supposed to say. LOL. This was so perfectly done. I love the ending the best. They somehow throw everything at you and yet leave you wanting more...I didn't want it to stop. I was so good! WOW!!!

Okay, you are my favorite reaction yet to this cover of We Don't Talk About Bruno. 😂 I did the very same thing with laughing so hard when Geoff was singing the second line...❤ you! At the auction Voice Play had with various items, I actually won Geoff's purple shirt and wrap! I had to get the Ratatouille from the Disney store to complete the ensemble. Oh, and Geoff's scream was actually the goat scream meme inserted by, the great Layne Stein.

I knew your reaction would have me in fits of giggles and of course you didn't disappoint, adorable as ever. I love the beautiful Ashley (and Rachel Potter) but hands down, Geoff makes a gorgeous Disney princess!! 👸 I really enjoyed the fact that when they were all singing over the top of each other, their diction is so good and clear I could understand what each of them was singing, not so in the film, it was just incoherent noise to me! If you saw the BTS for Hall of the Mountain King, the scream that Layne reacted to the airbrush makeup with would have been in the running too.

Ashley is great with them on Rich Man/Girl, too! Love her run here on 'Sand' towards the end!

One of my favorite Cesar moments is when he just casually CHUCKS the umbrella off-screen here. Hope nobody was in the way when it came hurtling off the set, LOL! Also Disney Princess Geoff gives me life. You really should watch the BTS for this one, if you haven't already. It's epic.

In a two-week period I first watched their _Hoist the Colors,_ _Halo,_ and this. All the members are transcendently talented, but Cesar became my MVP. It is hard to believe it was the same him.

Yeah Layne is a silly goose, so you often get plenty of humour in his videos/arrangements. And yes Ashley is really great and basically like the unofficial 5th member of VP these days as when they do live shows she performs with them.

Oh…some BTS amusement. They filmed the flower petals at double speed then slowed it by half to get that floaty feel. But, as their shoots always do…they hit a snag. No working fan. So….they propped up a leaf blower. Kathy was going to toss the petals as Ashley lip synced in double time. But Ashley is not a big girl. And it was a leaf blower. That, for some reason, they decided had to be cranked full blast. The first take damn near blew Ashley off her feet. Girlfriend literally stumbled back. It always amazes me that they ever get a guest back a second time, lol.

Definitely check out Voiceplay featuring Ashley Diane - If I were a rich man/girl - originally in Fiddler on the roof (but Gwen Stefani did her own version). It was Ashley's first song with Voiceplay. You will hear even more of what she's capable of with her voice.

Geoff just secretly wanted to become a disney princess, so this scene exists for that purpose

DJ - love the bit where you jumped up and went to stand in the corner! I fell to pieces over that.

If you payattention during Geoff's wardrobe change moment, Ceaser has a flower petal peg jim between the eyes and stay there the whole time, but he never flinches. Jonestly, im not even sure he noticed.

Mans is playing Camillo the shapeshifter, that's why he sings his verse looking like Bruno and switches to Isabella mid-song. That took me way too long to figure out. The side-eye glances everyone gave him at that part are hilarious, Ashley looks so pissed even though it was her idea IRL. That sequence had to be filmed at double speed and slowed down since the rose petals are really heavy and just drop to the floor instead of floating unless they're blasted at like Mach 69 speed, so they had to lipsync under a leaf blower. BTW listen to the BV's after the word "umbrella", that might be slightly illegal from a copyright standpoint but thankfully no one noticed. Also Geoff did do a really good shriek at the rat part but they decided to replace it with a stock goat bleat in post for the lulz. He did replicate it at the live showing though

As one of the perks of VoicePlay’s Patreon, a bunch of us were on a zoom call for awhile when Layne was arranging this. Pure genius! They wanted to have a painted backdrop for this like they did for Little Mermaid. But there wasn’t time, so Layne manipulated the house picture on the computer to look like a painting, then had it printed out on vinyl.

I feel so validated watching you watch this 😂 i literally gave myself an asthma attack wheeze-laughing the first time i watched the video and was very disappointed by a number of reactors either missing things or just not thinking it was that funny. Like. How?? How do you not crack up at this??? I mean Cesar killed me in the first 20sec and it just went down(up?)hill from there Edit: seconding everybody recommending If I Were a Rich Man/Girl. If you think Ashley's runs in this are impressive... just. Buckle up. You are not prepared. Second edit: the last "we don't talk about Bruno" that Layne does is an inward singing technique. It's done on an inhale, kind of like a snort, and he sometimes uses it to hit bass notes he wouldn't otherwise be able to reach. (It isn't Layne-specific-- you've heard Adam Rupp do it in the drum solo video you reacted to, during the "remix" bit toward the end, but Layne's ability to both pitch and enunciate it just completely baffles me.) I think those kicks leading up to it used the same trick? Or there might have been some technical wizardry going on there. Just because it's a cappella doesn't necessarily mean it's acoustic, after all.

LOVED your reaction. I was actually looking forward to it, I knew it would come sooner or later, and I knew it would drive you nuts 😅. Which it did, of course. And as I know this video by memory, I was more focused on your reaction, and... You almost had me falling off my chair, especially when Camilo/Geoff turned into Isabel. Did you notice the care for details? He completely shifted COSTUME, wearing the very same shorts and shirt that Ashley is wearing. I was scrolling through TikTok and their promotion for this came up on my fyp so after I saw that I decided to check it out. I had to laugh when you said Layne sounds sweet and innocent. You're not at all wrong, except for one mini they did. When they filmed horror themes it was Layne that said "hello, Clarice" just exactly like Anthony Hopkins did in Silence of the Lambs. I expected and loved Geoff's low menacing tones buy Layne freaked me the **** out with that little line. You should really go through all their minis. I'd maybe do all of one guest artist then go on to the next. They're worth the watch even though it's not a full song. They did a mini of Under Pressure from this movie too. Warning: their next drop you're going to need seat belts.

If you want more Encanto songs, there's a KZread artist who goes by OR3O, who wrote an original song for Dolores with a few others I believe and they actually got Dolores's voice actress to sing the main part of it. It's called Turn It Down and it's pretty well done.

I love their version of the ending where they're all singing together - for me, it's better than the original. I'm hearing-impaired, so the Disney version just sounded like a mess of noise to me, where I couldn't make out any individual voices at all - but somehow, with the Voiceply version, I can hear each person clearly if I focus on them. Pretty impressive!
