I thing the reason Eli sounds extra "special" when singing here, is because he's singing in his speech register. this is very much what Eli sounds like when talking, so it's a part of his voice where he has a gorgeous sound.

Aaaah this was so fun! I love your VP reactions because you always notice and appreciate the silly little details/comedic moments that a lot of reactors seem to either ignore or just completely miss. Re: Eli's sound, I think it's a combination of range and resonance. It's right in his speech register, so very comfortable and natural (and lower than we're used to hearing him, which just goes to show how well he can control every part of his range), and he's using very little vibrato and none of the grit that comes from engaging the false vocal folds, so it's a very clean, resonant sound. You have to be pretty versatile to perform in this type of ensemble at all, but Eli just takes it to another level. He's a straight-up vocal chameleon and I will never not be impressed by him.

The kid in this video is Layne's nephew (if I remember well). If you pay close attention, you'll see a glowing green light in his eyes at the end, forecasting the boogey man song :) Great reaction, as always !

I know exactly what you mean about Eli's singing that line about the pumpkin King. It struck me the first time I heard it and every time since as being something special. And Geoff a a vampire? Be still my beating heart!

I think it’s because those notes in the lines that you pointed out are right in the sweet spot of Eli’s voice, so it sounds super satisfying when he sings on a straight tone without vibrato.

I read a comment on another reaction of this song that said "everyone else gets uglier while geoff gets hotter", so true😂 love your entertaining reactions ❤ hope you had a happy Halloween!

I'm late, but I was having too much fun dressed as a Wild West couple with my husband. I'm right there with you on fanning myself. Kathy KNOWS how much of a thirst trap her husband is and gets a kick with dressing him up in the most delicious ways, like ripping off his sleeves. It's for her enjoyment as much as ours. Their onesie costumes at the beginning are a nod to their Chicken Song characters, with Eli as a rooster, Earl as the cow... although Geoff as a dragon... I mean, of course, he has a dragon's voice! Also, try to find the VoicePlay logo pumpkin. It took me a while to notice it. Happy Halloween, Blessed Samhain, Feliz Día de los Muertos, and may November bring you much joy.

This was the perfect way to end it for music videos. They knocked it out of the park, as usual. Wow!!!

I love how much they goof around in this as well. Did you notice Geoff go: "You and me pal!" vs J-None? He does it when they sing: "I am the wind blowing through your hair."

Over on Patreon Voiceplay dropped a short of "I'm too sexy for..." and Geoff certainly is "so sexy it hurts!!". You might want to avoid that one because it might just cause you to spontaneously combust.

Yup, this was my second-ever viewing of Voiceplay back in the day, and it remains one of my favourites of theirs to this day. And yes, i know what you mean about Eli in this. I think it's because he actually doesn't get much chance to hit those long, clear notes like that - they mostly have him doing that gritty rock tenor or the head-voice falsetto notes. So it's moments like these where he gets to show off that he actually has a gorgeous tone and timbre to his chest and mixed voice as well - and as an Eli fan, I'm definitely here for that!

This was my first full Voiceplay video! I knew nothing about them, but thought the vampire was hot, and it had some great singing, so I thought "Why not check out more of their stuff?" So I did! And I became addicted! And once I realized they were A Cappella, it made me love them even more!

Vampire Geoff conquers us all 😂 But all the prosthetics and make up in this are absolutely killer. They all fit their parts so well while still being very much themselves, its kind of freaky in the best possible way. And definitely my favorite reimagining of this song.

I think because Eli is hitting those notes without doing the rocking beast, but more theatrical, that's why it's hitting us differently. My favorite of theirs from NBC is What's This. If I remember, J wasn't an official member at the time.

During the shoot, they had more than 10 different makeup sessions to slowly progress in their transformations.
