16:55 "I think that *is* a T-72." That's why I still 100% love this movie. It was made in 1984. T-72s didn't _exist_ in the western world, and even if they did they certainly weren't available for movie sets. That's actually an M48 Patton tank, visually modified to resemble a (then new) T-72. It was supposedly so effective that after the tanks were spotted being trucked through town, the producers got a visit from some CIA agents who wanted to know how they'd got their hands on Soviet tanks. EDIT: And yes, the "Hind" was also a vismod, played by the French Puma helicopter.

I was coming here to make this comment. They were dressed up Pumas and the same for the T-72 as you said. I would also add the ZSU-23-4 and the BRDM-2. I’ve always found it fascinating that they did such a good job that the CIA actually thought they had Soviet equipment.

Exactly right. AS332's with bolt on wings. Fastest giveaway is the side by side cockpit, whereas the Hind actually has a cockpit setup like the Cobra/Apache, with pilot/gunner in trail, and the chin mounted moveable cannon. They did the same with the "Hind" in Rambo movies...

@@Theduckwebcomics that's not entirely correct. The Hind-A had a "greenhouse" style cockpit with the big windows all around, yes, BUT, the pilot still sat at the rear (interestingly offset to the portside) while the gunner sat up front in the nose. It was a hybrid side-by-side/tandem setup that was subsequently scrapped for the pure tandem layout widely known.
