Colt's Big Bears: The New Kodiak, Grizzly Magnum Revolvers

Ғылым және технология

‪@BallisticAviation‬ (Luke C.) is back on the floor at NRAAM 20204 talking with Jess from Colt about some of their new revolvers. In addition to a new 8" long variant of the ever-popular Python line of revolvers, Colt is also re-releasing and updating the compact Viper, and introducing two new Bear-themed revolvers with the new Kodiak and Grizzly magnum revolvers.

@@Cantafford2care, thats hillarious considering Colt turned their back on the American civillian market and ONLY came back to us when their military and government contracts started drying up. People joke about H&K hating gun owners, but they are quite literally bound by import and export laws. Meanwhile, Colt has no excuses. Colt also had the oppurtunity to move to a more pro gun state but decided not to, with the persuasion of corrupt Connecticut politicians So, as you were saying boy... ?

That Viper is pretty snazzy looking - love to see more partial underlug offerings in the revolver game these days. It appears to retain the problems I have with the new Cobra/King Cobra though; the squared, bent trigger guard looks strange, the grip frame isn't compatible with legacy Colt D-frame grips, the trigger face isn't wide enough, and I'd wager the trigger return spring is also a little weak as well I am glad to see Colt continually updating its revolver lineup and giving S&W and Ruger some much needed competition. I do wish they'd heed customer input sometimes too though. (That random third vent they added to the barrel rib on the new 4.25" Python was unnecessary, makes the gun look crowded, and makes it not match the stainless or vintage models for an example.)

Good to see Colt innovating a little bit, but WHEN are they going to produce lighter weight alloy frame guns like the original Cobra, Viper, and Agent. Is Colt simply giving that market away to S&W and Taurus??

You are aware that Buffalo Bore states on their website the Anaconda can handle it? _"This new load is designed ONLY for certain firearms. They are as follows; Ruger Red Hawk, Ruger Super Red Hawk (the Ruger Alaskan is a short barrel Super Redhawk), Ruger Super Blackhawk or Vaquero, Freedom Arms Model 83, Taurus Raging Bull All Steel Versions (no lightweight alloys), _*_Colt Anaconda_*_ , Magnum Research BFR and Dan Wesson Revolvers. Suitable rifles include T/C Encore, CVA Hunter, Handi Rifle and any rifle with a falling block action."_ Reading is fundamental. 😉

These are very nice if you want to shoot at paper targets only. Maybe even some hunting applications. But for a gunfight, against any 2-legged creature in a dark alley, I still prefer Ruger revolvers. But that's just my opinion!

I was curious about the revolver's specs when I saw the video, so I looked up the gun. It is heavy for what it is, the old Viper was much lighter and Colt could make it lightweight, by using modern materials and keeping it in .38. I don't understand Colt's choice.

It’s just a smart business move for Neo-Colt. The snake guns were the most successful civilian sales product they ever produced. They rereleased the Python and the market gobbled it up, even with a +$1,000 price tag. It would be insane to not try and capitalize on that. It would be neat to see new Colt 1911’s, but everybody makes those. Nobody else makes a Python.
