A few years ago, I made my first Big Liberty Quilt, quickly followed by two more. I used the wonderful designs of Liberty to create a gentle wash of colour from light to dark - I'd enjoyed the book by Deirdre Amsden and was inspired to try my own simpler versions of her quilts.
I hope you enjoy these pictures from that time and my little chat.
I read every single one of your comments , but I simply cannot reply to them all - last week I spent a few days with my Dad and I don't take any computer stuff with me when i stay with him - and I came home to many unanswered comments - I'm really really sorry .
Thank you all for your lovely comments .

That is the BEST story about the Mark Knopfler quilt...that you got to see him perform on the last days of finishing the quilt and then the turn of events that led to him purchasing YOUR quilt! Love it!

The Last Homely House East of the Sea You (and your cats) have helped me a lot the last few days since I discovered that you. I am not a sewer or a quilter. I am teaching myself to sew from watching YT videos, I also want to learn to do patchwork and quilt. My aim is to eventually make a memory quilt with my husbands Tshirts.

HI Kate, They're gorgeous, your colourwash quilts. And the Mark Knopfler quilt is allowed to live with the real Mark, how cool is that? I'm also a big fan of him and own some of his albums. My first little quilt is ready, and has brought so many complications that those will last for the next 100 years. He's not necessarily perfect, but done, juhuuu!!! The second one should now be quilted. We had 31 degrees yesterday and 32 degrees today, I can't do anything with quilting anymore. I once searched the Internet for Liberty fabrics. The prices are almost priceless. I particularly like the green Liberty fabrics. How nice that you received many of them as a gift at that time. A large work table and a wall to which the quilt can be pint are, of course, also worth gold. I don't have all that, just a mini apartment. For nothing, threads spread throughout the apartment as a bonus looked like hahah! I wish you a good time, big hug and see you soon Claudia

Love the stories about your quilts. It was fun to hear that the quilt named "Mark Knopfler" was purchased by him. Of course, I had to see what the Liberty fabric was like. About a month ago, I purchased two different ones - 1 yard each through Amazon. First one is named "Tea for Two Daisy Dance" and the other one is called, "Cottage Garden Forget Me Not". You are right that the fabric is expensive, and these two were the least expensive, but still pretty and I really like them. I can see why this fabric is your favorite. I plan on making pillowcases. Thanks again for the lovely chat.

I made my grandsons quilted blankets because boys are hard in their use of things. I made about eight more blanket/quilts for Christmas and baby shower gifts one year. Busy little bee I was then. I have saved clothes to cut shapes from for blankets. It's a wonder what thrift stores offer. I buy used king size sheets or twin sheets to make bed coverings for the summer since a lined blanket would be far too heavy with a top sheet to sleep under. There is a wealth of materials out there waiting for needle and thread. Thank you for your stories and quilts.

OMG! What huge projects! And such beautiful results! I’m also a huge Mark Knopfler fan, so I absolutely LOVE that story! That’s just the best outcome! I also love hearing Norma purr the whole time. 😻. TFS!!
