COLORFUL ABSTRACT PAINTING 🌸 FINDING YOUR STYLE 🌸 FAV PAINTS 🌸 SHOUT OUT TO 2 YOUNG ARTISTS
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Hello friend! Thanks for stopping by to see me create a colorful abstract painting. In this video, I start with two 36x36" canvases and then just work on one. I'll talk about how I found my style, the paints I love to use, and I give a shout out to two young artists.
My work is inspired by my love for fields of flowers. You'll see me create this piece from start to finish. There's no music, however, you'll hear me talk through a lot of my process and discuss products/tools that I'm using.

Thanks so much for your videos, Betty! What hardware are you using on the wall to hang and paint your canvases? I've recently acquired an Artristic Easel after all these years using a wooden easel but neither holds a really huge canvas. A wall in my studio would be the ticket.

I have screws in the studs (this building has metal studs--which I don't like!) that stick out about a 1/2 inch. Then I just hang the back of the canvas on the screws. Super simple and super convenient!
Love your work Betty. Do you do a lot of colour mixing in your work or do you mainly work from your palette of pre mixed colours. I am a soft pastel artist and just getting into acrylic paints. I love mixing but I feel like it slows me down. Pastels are so immediate. I guess that is why I love them so much.

You mentioned in a video you took a picture of the old studio backdrop ….. You should stretch your plastic backdrops on a frame next time you move; I don’t think I’ve ever seen a semi transparent painting before. I love your work. How do you not mix colors when you put a light color over a wet dark (black) underpainting? Sometimes I want it but other times I want rich colors. Do I have to let each layer dry first? I’ve been getting muddy parts. Especially when I don’t want a lump of paint and try to brush it out.

Hello Betty did I ask you where you take your inspiration?
@BettyFranksArt
Жыл бұрын
Hi Louise, I'm inspired by my love for fields of flowers. Thanks for asking!
If you haven't figured out how best to hang the canvases on your wall here are a few videos that I think will help. kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXqJ3MSDipXZmMo.html this is a video on using 2x1 strips as your nail strip to hang the canvas on. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5-bpZmvlsvUf6g.html this is a video on how to hang something heavy into a metal stud. I think the combo of these 2 videos would work in your studio. I think you would just need some 2x1 boards and some of the toggle screws to attach them to the wall/metal studs. Then you can hang your canvases similarly to in your old studio. I hope this helps.
@BettyFranksArt
Жыл бұрын
Thank you for that! Years ago in a different house, I used boards and I found that my canvas would bounce back and forth when I was painting on them. It was super annoying. I find that putting the canvas directly on the wall doesn't creating any bouncing.

@@BettyFranksArt Bouncing canvas would be very annoying. You have to have something sturdier than just the drywall to nail into. Maybe a whole sheet of plywood attached with the anchors then put your nails into that. Just some thoughts.
