Watch the Fort St. Vrain eagles live, too!! They usually lay eggs in late February to early March, the eggs hatch in early to mid-April, and the young fledge in June or July.
What does the Fort St. Vrain bald eagle site look like? The eagles' nest (FSV-N0) is 9 x 8 feet wide, eight feet high, and 57 feet off the ground. It has a perimeter of about 26 feet, a total area of about 56 feet, and probably weighs between 2200 and 2700 pounds! The nest is located in a cottonwood on the banks of the St. Vrain River near Platteville, CO, on property owned by Xcel Energy.
We’re not sure how old it is, but Bob Anderson and Rob MacIntyre put the first cam system up in 2003, when the nest was already well established. FSV-N0 is built primarily of cottonwood branches (the dominant tree in many river systems out west) and lined with prairie grass. After the primary limb supporting the nest fell in August of 2020, RRP Director John Howe worked with Xcel Energy to put up a new bionic limb and restore the nest. The eagles gave it their seal of approval just a few days later!
As the eagles look out of their nest, they might view the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, roughly 15 miles west of the nest, or the junction of the St. Vrain and south Platte rivers roughly 2 miles north.

I hope that the last one to hatch makes it as it's a few days behind the other two.

Sadly, he died the next day. I was hoping he’d make it, but he didn’t get fed on Sunday and it was around 79F. Apparently was not able to get any shade, became dehydrated, and got out of the nest bowl. Fell over and had a seizure. 😢

    O. M. G. The third egg hatched! This is both wonderful & A Tragedy. The two much older Eaglets will surely out compete and starve it to death! That's if one of them doesn't kill it first! It's very unfair & most unfortunate. We as higher beings must step in to save it's precious life. No baby deserves to suffer!!!

No help for the hatchling from parents.. siblings just fight over plenty like greedy pigs. Hatchling has so much potential.. yet is ignored by everyone even camera operators sitting in the very confort the Eaglets, afford them. So sorry on so many levels. . Sorry world, with sorry overseers. 😤 R.I.P, little hatchling. 🙏❤️

Hello?. I wonder what level of consciousness is required to run these cameras?. Must not be much.. I wonder if the sponsors know how many they allow to needlessly suffer& die?? How sick & cruel of those who record & do nothing time after time.. Guess that's what is required to run the camera.. More like " Do nothing with My life." Great job doing nothing! 👎
