Art can be monochrome. Considering the leisure of 3 colors, if you are creative you definitely can. Probably takes some discipline though. I suck at art.

This video came at the perfect time for me. I've been trying to figure out colour harmony for weeks, even asking some of the artist I admire for help but I never got a straight answer. I found your channel a few days ago and then you post a video that explains it perfectly! Thanks so much for taking the time to make this, it was unbelievably useful. If possible could you make a video about rendering? I work in a very cartoony style so I tend to put everything on it's own layer but this is something I want to stop doing as I branch out into fully illustrated pieces rather than characters standing in white space. I want to keep my cartoony style but have more natural, painterly colouring rather than relying on cell shading but, using the character you painted in this as an example, I would have no idea how to start rendering that after laying down the initial colour scheme.

Dude. Thank you so much! This is by far the best tutorial on art I have ever listened to... I've been reading books and watching tutorials nonstop for what feels like forever and this just explained it so amazingly. I don't really dig the structured/lasso/cell shading approaches either. They feel so scientific whereas I like that organic approach. When you brought in the fire as an example to really show where it happens in the real world and how to stair step.... I wanted to just fall to my knees and kiss your feet. lmao. It finally all clicked. Now I am off to test it all. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Brilliant (I taught at a university -NOT art ... so I know great when I see them!) But truly, the way you explain is extremely easy for me to follow... perhaps that is because my brain works a certain way. I sure HOPE others feel the same... Keep up the amazing work... First of all, thank you again for this really good new tutorial video! I'm currently struggling with colors and I think you help me to understand it better and it reassures me that I wasn't completely off the good way to do it. Eventually, same comment as the last one I've made on another video of yours : I really like the fact that you speak when you paint, instead of accelerating the process. It makes it way clearer. And I like your humour touches. I'm happy you share with us your knowledge. THANK YOU. (It is for videos like yours that I'm happy to understand english well enough. Sometimes I feel like there isn't enough good art "teacher" speaking in French on KZread... Well... sometimes I think there is not enough good french content on Youtbue. ^^ btw, I hope I'm enough understandable.)

duuuude!!! this tutorial is awesome!! the flow of consciousness style of tutorial is very very helpful. its much better than following 'steps' - this way we can see the mental processes rather than trying to connect some kind of logic dots.

Hi. I think this is one of the best colour tutorials I've watched. Although your drawing may have been really loose, you explained it pretty perfectly. I couldn't wrap my head around colour. And I've watched tons of vids on the topic. But with this at least I have some tools to go forth. Thank you so much for this upload. Looking forward to loads more. :)
