My mother was a professional artist and teacher of art, and you remind me so much of her. You have the wonderful ability to express yourself so clearly with words along with your wonderful visuals. I learn so much from you, and I thank you so much for the time I know it takes you to share with us. Elizabeth
Love the new setup. You're definitely back! ❤ That black is amazing. Can't wait to try that and the new to me technique. Thank you, Lori!
She's actually one of my favorite artists love love love her
This is such a cool technique. So happy your back doing colored pencil videos.
You have beyond amazing art skills. New here & loving it! ❤
I love this. Completely new to me but fascinating. Thank you.
Thanks Lori, the glazing trick looks a really good effect, I've used the brown and blue to colour hair on a geisha girl and was really pleased with the effect, and the afmat sharpener is just what I need for a set of 12 Lyra REMBRANDT art specials I received as a Christmas present. Three are too big to fit my normal sharpeners and have a 5mm core and came unsharpened. :-)

I had the same issue with my lyra not fitting my sharpener. This one has the spot for it.
Love this video, great information. I definitely learned a new technique and definition. Thank you ...I miss NY too, Rochester NY ❤

It's the very top top top layer. It brightens colors when you blend with white. I forgot to mention that.
Thank you for teaching us this technique! Does that Afmat sharperner fits Brutfuner square pencils also?
Great information.❤❤
HELLO .. love your tips
Very interesting! I think i do this sometimes but didn't know that's what it was called. Im in the ny area and looked up that exhibit but looks its already over 😥

Hi, wonderful video. Any advice on what to use instead of poly pencils? I dont have many brands of pencils yet and am on a no buy for a few more months

Star Joy is very similar to Polychromos but in the budget catagory. Get the gold edition.
Thank you Lori. Will my Star Joy pencils do well with this technique? Also does it work if you mix pencil types? ie wax on top of oil, or vice versa?

I watch all of your videos, and usually learn quite a few things. You lost me on this one tho. I know it's not said, but definitely implied, that you drew that picture of the fire. Adding to that implementation, you add colors on top, then say how the paper has no more tooth. Could that be because it is something like magazine paper? It is clearly a photo of some sort that you are "glazing over". I already know the out, saying it is a video about glazing. I get that, but on multiple occasions, and in multiple ways, you imply that you just drew that fire. Like I said, I watch every video and will continue to do so, but this one is kind of pushing the limit.

Not 100% sure what you meant by her “pushing the limits on this one”. What I can say is, that she did the main part of the fire off screen because as she mentioned in this video, she had already done a video on how to do fire. So she is not going over some sort of photo. What she wanted to focus on was the glazing part. So, she was not exactly pushing any limits.

That's a huge compliment. Thank you. I drew it. I was using NeeNah Bristol Vellem. That's my go to paper for doodling or pictures I know I am not going to keep. For all intensive purposes it's pretty good and cheap. I love drawing hyper real fire. I have a video showing how I do it start to finish. kzread.info/dash/bejne/aIyrp9yegdHLn8o.html That video I was doing it in a coloring book and bound by the sketch that was given me. This one I used a reference photo and free handed it.

@@FernCurtis Exactly. I started the picture at night and worked all through the night into the next day. Fire take forever to render and doesn't get hyper realistic until the end so as the song goes "I skipped to the good part". I may do another fire video to show my steps but not now. I have a lineup of things I want to do to get my channel going in the direction I want.

So, she drew fire so well that you thought it was a magazine image. 😂 Woe, this comment. 🤦🏻♀️😂
