Maybourne was not an evil person. Misguided perhaps, uninformed without a doubt, self important for sure, but not evil. If you really watch, he was always trying to do what he honestly thought was best to insure the safety and security his country and his planet, even if he had to bend the rules to do it. Okay, maybe his country first, but he was career military. As the series went on, he grew, learned and eventually he and Jack even became reluctant allies when the need arose. Jack even seemed to give Maybourne a certain grudging respect, if not complete trust, at the end. That change and growth was why Maybourne was one of my favorite semi-regular characters in the series. As someone else posted, "He went from being the character you loved to hate to the character you hated to love."

Thats right there with the "You cannot be serious." "Yes I can, I just choose not to be."
Now that’s a General I’d be happy to serve under. Hammond was a hell of a dude.
Gods, I loved Gen Hammon. "that was not a invitation, that was an order, colonel."
Don S Davis was a national treasure.

I was about to comment on this video, when I found another comment that I absolutely loved. Then I saw who posted it. One of the VERY few times I have liked my own comment.
I just love this scene
I love General Hammond. He reminds me of a few of the Generals I served under during my time in the Military.
Colonel Harry Maybourne was a great character!
Damn that I Miss this Show my friends. Thanks.
Always loved Hammond's character...
Ungh, one of the best Hammond lines, hell, one of the best Stargate lines, period. Absolute phenomenal acting by all concerned but particularly by Don S. Davis. RIP.

"Everyone willing to to volunteer-" -all the troops take one step forward.
I super love that Hammond very pointedly looked at Maybourne's rank. XD
I don't understand how he thought that holding a group of people who's basic equipment allowed them to walk through walls was a good idea. I mean if that was a rescue team what would an attack team coming to get there people back look like?

Victor Selve I know, for all anyone knows they might have tech that'll render them invisible or some sort of EMP that'll mess up their technology overnight or something. What exactly were these guys thinking? I would've just sent them through the gate & tell them to help themselves since they're so advanced.

Victor Selve That was the chronic arrogance of Maybourne, and whoever he was working for/with at any given time, at work.

Exactly. With the fact that they're an ALIEN SPECIES, with advance technology.

sadly they got slammed by the goaluld and where never heard from again. maby some survived and where living with the nox
I love it when a general takes umbrage and pulls rank like that. Everyone steps back against a wall in full defensive positions! LOL
Maybourn was always a great character. He changed a lot over the seasons, but was always fun.
Old Stargate was great. Not that there weren't still some great moments later on, but the show just wasn't the same after season 5. The Nox and the Tolans were great, and the Goa'uld were still threatening. No human replicators, no "Ancients", no bad cosplaying, half-ascended system lords, and only a vague hint of the 'ascension' nonsense that infected the rest of the series. It had the right balance of fun adventure but still had a good score and a sense of gravity. And Daniel had his hair.
2:07 One of his most badass moments.
Best Show to ever exist ....
That was a very friendly way to order Maybourne into his room. The way he looked at his rank-signs and after at Maybournes was a super way to tell him: "Dont say a word - im General - YOU. NOT."
That wasn’t an invitation, It was an order…..COLONEL!
Maybourne was also a great character and very useful in certain circumstances. But if he had a tail he'd be a weasel.
Damn look at those keyboards i always forget how old this series is

They still used floppy disks until at least season 5.
Best subtle acting example is when Hammond says, "That wasn't an invitation, it was an order..." glances at Maybourne's shoulder rank pin, "Colonel."
The way he looks down at his rank before he drops the bomb- perfect
Imagine unlimited budged with that kind of talented casting!
The amount of sass O'neill oozes out of every pore... I can't handle it, it cracks me up! xD
To relive the stargate days
Loved seeing Mayborn put in his place. And even better, he knew who had more brass and he hated it.

@@SGtidbits No. Because once a rat fink, always a rat fink.
The quarantine stuff now is pretty ironic now
Don Davis could be the sweet understanding Father Figure one moment and a terrifying commanding presence in the next. Great Actor and a Great loss to Hollywood. He will never be forgotten
Maybourne eventually became a cool character when he went rogue from the NID. Him and Ba'al were my two favorite antagonists
Ladies n Gentlemen in today's exercise we will be talking about respect.....
Damn, General Hammond just flexed on that guy
