I’ll have to remember this for desert camping. Sometimes feels like a whole different season at night.

Bruh it feels like the ground sucks the heat out ur back in seconds when ur out there offroad camping if you do not use a cot or some type of thermal bed, in California desert areas , during the days it’s up to mid 70s sometimes hotter, most of the time very comfortable weather but at nights especially during winter it’s like ur entering Colorado when it snows 🤣🤣 and those who don’t come prepared face a close call with hyperthermia ! I’ve seen it happen and it has happened to most of us when we don’t know squat about certain gear u might need when you start off lol it could ruin the whole trip especially for beginners !

I don't know what the r factor is on that, but we've used it to insulate floors, walls, ceilings, and it's especially good for covering the water lines for like a floor heating system!!!!

There isn't an R value on these because it's not an insulator. The trick with these is they are great at reflecting heat. It can block heat by reflecting it away or trap heat depending on where the reflective side is facing the heat source.

Scored a whole brand new roll from a crawlspace that I was working in. Used it last night. Definitely a game changer!

It would be lighter and cheaper and easier to pack to get one of those silver survival blankets. Reflect all the heat back to you inside your sleeping bag

The reflectix keeps a layer of warm air between your body & the ground that a survival blanket can't. Try picking up an ice cube with a survival blanket & then with reflectix. Huge difference.

What everyones missing is in freezing weather your body will create moisture between ur sleeping bag and this material and the weight of laying on it will collapse any void that holds air. Same concept with a mylar survival blanket

That would be a good way to get hypothermia if nothing else, in really cold weather you need to use something which separates you from the ground with a high R rating,

In the summer put a space blanket on top between the fly and tent body. The difference is amazing.
