You have opened up a whole new world of basket making for me. I’ve made two round, one oval, and started a new one last night. Those marks on the green thread - the base was laser cut, so that's sort of like soot left int the holes

I can't wait to try this. I have a few of these rounds that I used to use with raffia and reeds. I'm glad they are rounds though, those corners look tricky! 🎉

Oh yes it’ll work great with raffia! I made a round one with raffia and used flax cord as my filler. I guess I should post that video 😆
