Coffee Old Fashioned | How to Drink
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Thank you to Mr Black for sponsoring todays episode and for the great idea to make a Cold Brew Old Fashioned! To learn more about the Moccamaster and Bar Tools Mr Black is going to GIVE AWAY to one lucky viewer, follow this link bit.ly/30jCPXh, you can enter between now and October 14th, 2020.
I have made the Old Fashioned many ways on the show but this is the first time I have ever added Mr Black! It was delicious and got me thinking about what other drinks I can create with Mr Black. Since coffee is bitter I thought a play on a Negroni sounded delicious, I am calling this drink the Chiapparoni (but taking suggestions for a better name). Lastly I made what I like to call a Blue Mountain King which is kind of a riff off of the El Presidenté.
Cold Brew Old Fashioned:
Build in the glass
1 oz. - 30 ml. Mr Black
1 oz. - 30 ml. Rye
2 dashes orange bitters
Stir over ice
Garnish with an orange twist
Chiapparoni:
Build in a mixing glass
1 oz. - 30 ml. Mr Black
1 oz. - 30 ml. Reposado Tequila
.75 oz. - 22 ml. Amaro Angostura
2 Dashes Cocoa/Chocolate Bitters
Stir over ice and strain into a coupe
Garnish with orange peel
Blue Mountain King:
Build in a mixing glass
.75 - 22 ml. Dolin blanc vermouth
1 oz - 30 ml. Mr Black
1 oz - 30 ml Jamacian Rum
1 dash Angosutra Bitters
1 dash of Orange Bitters
Bar Spoon of Dry Curaçao (optional)
Stir over ice and strain into a coupe
Garnsih with marischino cherries

They left 8 of us in the tasting room at the end with 5 different bottles and said to hit them up for more if we needed it! I may have passed out on the ride back to the resort. The resort we stayed at gave away Appleton bottles as prizes for all their dopey contests....we can home with 4 bottles a piece in our luggage!!!!! Good times!

In Montreal they do a bunch of old fashioneds with maple and they’re amazing. Santos bar in old port does it with maple bark smoke in the glass and a torched orange zest, and maple simple syrup of course. Can’t wait to make a couple of these coffee ones!

Coffee and Old Fashioned, two of my favourite beverages. Combining them is a genius idea.
Coffee episodes best episodes! Just yesterday I learned about horchata from the dalgona video and now I have a bottle resting on my fridge just waiting for when I get home to mix it up. I wish I could find Mr. Black where I live, though... every coffee liqueur I find in Brazil just tastes like coffee candy.
So far my favorite coffee cocktail, and one that's entered my standard repertoire, is, basically, a coffee boulevardier that i call the Red Dead Revolver: 2oz bulleit rye, 2oz kahlua, 1oz campari, and a ton of aztec chocolate bitters (~3-4 dashes), garnished with an orange peel. I'd like to see what it's like with Mr. Black or NOLA sometime but I haven't really been able to go out and grab a bottle.
Sweet sweet nectar of the gods this coffee.
Picked up some Mr. Black last week because of this show. It is, without a doubt, the best coffee liquor I've ever had. We made White Russians with it and *chef's kiss*

Cold brewed coffee and rye go so well together!! My personal favorite (and best creation yet) is 30ml cold brewed coffee, 30ml rye, 20ml triple sec, 20ml sweet vermouth and 2 dashes of absinthe, shaken. If anyone tries it, let me know what you think! Edit: I forgot to mention a twist of orange peel to garnish

@@MichaelThomas-qx8wb I think I went usually with a medium roast. But to be honest, I've done it with lots of different types of coffee, even fresh espresso. But cold brewed is the best with it I think. Oh and twist of orange in it to garnish is important too!
The cold brew old fashioned is fantastic. Really enjoyed it. Haven't tried the others, but fully intend to. Edit: Required some delivery, but now I've tried all three. Have to say I, they are all quite good. The coffee old fashioned and chiapparoni especially. I'll certainly be making those again. The blue mountain king is good, but not quite up with the other two. Has the best name though.
Yay Mr Black! I love that stuff. One of my favourite things to have as an after dinner drink.
I love your videos! Good balance of humor and how-to! The Mr. Black bottle/branding is also very cool. I like how the liquid disappears to reveal the design.
Woooo boy. Daddy's makin a Chiapparoni this weekend!
Just spitballing ideas for the Chiapparoni, but I like the name "Coffee Tiger". It conjures the image of the jungle with both the coffee and tiger, and you said that it had more of an attack than the Blue Mountain King, so the tiger references this attack, and also the color scheme (almost black drink with orange peel) fits the colors.
Because of the season I've been experimenting with pumpkin spice simple syrup. Right now I'm enjoying a Pumpkin Old Spice Fashioned.
As a professional barista, I can say orange juice and espresso mixed together is surprisingly and incredibly fucking pleasant
Woohoo! Australia! We got a mention!
Turns out they sell Mr. Black at the local Gelson's! Definitely gonna pick some up next time I am out, seems like a good addition to the home bar.
A cup of coffee together with a glass of orange juice is the best thing wirh breakfast! Fascinating how different tastebuds are.

Just stumbled upon this, I have to say these sounds great and I love the slight slow-mo for the pours and the fact that he spills all over the place. It adds a more organic feel to the pouring rather than a "clean" pour which can seem doctored and less relatable for the average person. Great Job! Will definitely have to try some of these!
