Yeah pretty much. Except unlike Drew he didn't have to go to the developmental once again and goes straight to the main roster, getting that main roster money among some others. Meaning that they're really investing something in *this* Cody unlike what they did with Cody's previous run. Can't see they're wasting their investment money only to bury him but it'll be petty af if they do and I won't be surprised if it happens either.

For those who didn’t watch he’s AEW work. Watch his promo where he says he wants to kill the Attitude Era, watch his undesirable to undeniable promo, watch his last promo in AEW. He is a fantastic talker. This promo is better then any promo he cut in WWE. This is the Cody Rhodes he wanted and the Cody Rhodes WWE wanted. This is the only guy who I can see beating Reigns for the title.

Been here since he returned and have watched every Match he has had both rr wins and WRESTLEMANIA’s this was absolutely incredible

Right at 3:54, when he gets fired up, you can hear the Dusty coming through. Dusty's fired up, angry "That's hard times!" voice. No one will ever be Dusty again, but it is extremely impressive that Cody can still encapsulate that energy.

That “Welcome home” moment was 🔥🔥🔥🔥 A great promo by Cody only to top it off with that show of respect in the end. A great setup for what we see now and what will unfold come WM40 ❤️💫🔥

@@robertmitchell9831 The stipulation never to be able to wrestle for the world title was Codys idea. Tony Khan tried to convince him not to do it but Cody went ahead with it. He can say "Its up to Tony" all he likes but AEW was founded on the premise that long term storytelling was the goal and that they werent just going to abandon conventions/stipulations that they had already established. Cody knew what he was getting himself into.

For a long time, Seth has been the only reason I watch WWE…. But Cody is, and has to be a monster face now. His emotion and connection through the mic is rare, and the WWE has to see this through. He’s the sole reason I’m back watching WWE, and I’m sure there’s endless fans like me just watching and waiting for the day Cody grabs the title and makes that legacy complete. But it has to be a slow burn, and if the WWE has any decent writers and ability to create storyline’s anymore, it has to be a slow burn.

Them promo skills come from his pops and hard work 🔥

Very interesting this Cody in the WWE thing. His theme song has “wrestling has more than one royal family” at the start. He mentions “title belt” and “wrestling superstar” in this promo. A lot of supposedly forbidden terms. Have to say if this is a new way of thinking from WWE I’m all for it.

Cody is honestly the only wrestler to have to promos that left me tears. One in AEW when he asked Dustin to be his tag partner, and his WWE return.

I hope Cody wins at Mania 40. He deserves it.

I think Vince finally understands that this is the time to turn things around and let Cody have creative freedom to his storyline. It would be a mistake to not let him to. He should see that his promos and storylines in AEW was what got them to be the company they became during the start of it all. Hopefully he gets the title and i’m hoping he turns it back to the original design cause the current design just looks childish in my opinion.

This story is what I missed about wwe since attitude era. Honestly this storyline was great and long. Lots of ups and downs and surprises

Now this is LONG TERM STORYTELLING

Cody just said himself that the entire promo was unscripted .. that is awesome!

I havent watched a single segement or part of raw since 2020. And i have watched AEW since. During Codys AEW run alot of people didnt like him at the end but i always loved cody. I wish he stayed but i will watch what he does.

I stop watching wwe fully myself, it's got so bad and I started watching AEW last September and I'm loving it. The feeling of waiting every Wednesday and Friday is how I use to feel waiting to watch raw and smackdown. Cody was so good and the fans really are dumb for booing him...he put his body thru alot! Like going thru a flaming table, receiving bumb from Sammy Guevara on a ladder and getting a cutter off of it, like holy shit...I'm very disappointed he's back in WWE cause we won't see those amazing matches but if he's happy I guess I'm happy for him..I'm only gonna watch wwe to see what Cody is up too, cause tbh I don't like anyone else in the roster besides edge.

I always loved Cody when he was in The Legacy and his single run after that. It was a shame he never became the main eventer i hoped. When he left wwe i was heartbroken. But he needed to part ways with wwe and carve his path into stardom. Now he is that star. Damn i hope he becomes the number one babyface and a main event star.

cody is amazing on the mic, that was real emotion...him leaving aew seems validated.

Me too man. I'm digging the new gimmick seems like he's having fun with it.

Seeing Edge and Cody doing their best now is the only thing why i am watching wrestling again... after a decade...i am generally not a big fan of WWE, but these men are my memories of good times, of a childhood.

This promo is so good but more then anything you can tell that cody rhodes misses his father so much. Fathers truly are important

The story is finished!

I am not a fan of Cody, and never have been. But when he came back at Wrestlemania, they treated him as a star, and I felt that. That promo was very good, and very emotional. Hearing a grown adult talking about his father and explaining us the hero he was to him is always something lovely to hear. I love how the crowd went immediately "YOU CAN DO IT !" when he told us about winning the WWE Championship. Still not a fan of Cody at this very moment, but I know it will be one of the best feel good moment we will ever see WHEN he gets his hands on the top prize of WWE

I don't know how Cody kept his composure. I would've been crying like a baby. Heck I almost was while watching this.

Can’t believe it’s been 2 years since his return back to WWE & now 2 years later he’s that much closer to finish the story 🔥🙌
