Y’all need to think in terms of World Series Yankees are desperate for one and Rizzo is very bad.. but could also use him at DH.. they have the money and would force the cubs to eat a lot of it to get a decent prospect back… a legit lefty bat is always wanted.. and Yankees must do something or they won’t beat Baltimore.. cards fan so idc if he leaves Chicago

Bellinger can cover the Yankees' or Astros' issue at first base. He has player opt-outs at the end of 2024 and 2025, and I doubt he sticks around. (He's set for $27.5M in 2025 and $25M in 2026 if he doesn't opt out.)

Stros don't really need Bellinger. They don't need a highly productive 1st baseman, they just needed league average, and they are getting that splitting SIngleton and Dubon. If they are going to use what little prospect capital they have worth trading, they're much better off using it on an inning eating starter

Great stuff Jim only thing is Belliinger has buyouts after every season so any team trading for him can decide its just a rental.

As a Astros fan i'm not giving up any major league talent or top prospects. also the money....... Astros already paying big money for a 1st baseman they needed to get rid of,they shouldn't take a chance trading for a guy having a bad year, hoping he improves. an if he doesn't improve, having to pay a bad hitter big money for multiple years

If the Yankees are serious about making the playoffs, they need to focus on acquiring a real closer and a starting pitcher. Having a strong closer and a reliable starting pitcher can make a significant difference in a team's playoff chances. If the Yankees focus on acquiring these key players, they could solidify their pitching staff and improve their overall performance. Without addressing these needs, they won't make the playoffs, and it might be challenging to compete against other strong teams and secure a playoff spot. The trade deadline and offseason are crucial times for the Yankees to make these strategic moves.

If Bellinger sucks after a team trades for him, they will be forced to pay him for the player options once Bellinger opts in on them. The player options I believe are $20 million + and that’s a lot of money to pay. If a team is going to pay that type of money, they want that player to play like a star

Cubs: mj melendez Royals: bellinger + cash Cubs would acquire someone with control and a high ceiling Royals would upgrade offense and defense at a discount even if bellinger doesnt improve on his current production. As a Cubs fan I see the real issue as them Firing David Ross. The guys loved him and they don't, as yet, like Counsell. Every bat is under performing except for maybe Busch. The starters are under performing now. The Cubs are done this season and should sell then go hard after Soto and some other guys in the off season. I think the Royals would be a nice spot for Cody.

If the Yankees are serious about making the playoffs, they need to focus on acquiring a real closer and a starting pitcher, using their top prospect for these roles. While adding a catcher and possibly another high-level infielder would help, they shouldn't trade their top prospect for these positions. Without addressing their pitching needs, they won't make the playoffs. The trade deadline and offseason are crucial for making these strategic moves.

  • @douglasrau5094

I mean....Bellinger would help. He would definitely lengthen the lineup and put an actual hitter behind Judge, which the Yankees sorely, sorely lack right now. I don't understand why opposing teams aren't intentionally walking Judge every time he comes to the plate with the way the lineup is right now--unless they fear being ruthless boo'ed by the Yankee Stadium crowd which I get. They could get him in the lineup by DHing Judge more and playing Belli in center or you put Belli in center, move Judge to right and DH Soto. The biggest needs for the Yankees right now are third and second base, which Bellinger does nothing to address.

Yankees have plenty of money but they should not waste any on Bellinger. But it won't hurt the cubs to get rid of him. I don't blame him if he doesn't want to give his all for the Cubs. He's on a team where no one jives with each other. It's just time to reshape the rooster around Shota and Steele (the only ones who seem to care about winning).

Royals have a terrible farm system and probably don't want to tale on the money. Yankees should be the most motivated, but that will be a lot of salary because of the tax. Seattle makes the most sense, though the upper level pitching has dried up a bit. So here's a one-stop shop to keep their division hopes alive. Catcher and 2nd ranked Harry Ford, and a couple lower ranked pitchers #14 Teddy McGraw, and #28 Dylan Wilson for Bellinger AND Nico Hoerner. Phillies, Astros, Guardians, and Braves could all use him too.

The Cohen tax would only apply to the small amount of Bellinger's remaining contract for this season (ie. approx. $9 million) that puts them over the threshold. If the team continues to struggle, I would expect the Yankees to heavily consider this.
