I think that Johnny's view on villains are a reference to How I Met Your Mother where Barney has the same opinion and he even states that Johnny Lawrence is the hero of Karate Kid

Love the easter eggs!! There's one that stuck out. When Daniel says, "we're gonna get sued". Johnny says, "sue me for what"? It was from Rocky 5. When Rocky punches George Washington Duke. When Duke says, "Touch me and i'll sue". Rocky says, "Sue me for what"?

When Terry was sparring with Robbie he caught Robbie’s fist the same way he caught Daniel’s fist in KK3

Chozen will open a new dojo, and Daniel & Johnny will work there. Its the only way around the deal that closed Miyagido and Eagle Fang. I hope Chozen is not alone and brought a younger assistant from Okinawa, maybe his teen nephew to connect with the other young cast. A teenage Okinawan karate champion will be a great addition to help take down Cobra Kai. Chozen can be the new Miyagi for the good guys.

@@theoneandonlyGR There's more than one way to honor and dishonor an agreement. Chozen is a "Miyagi Do" student. Sure, his Sensei (Sato) called his "school" Sato-Do, he was taught by Miyagi's father, aka, Miyagi-Do. No reason to change the name of the school.

Tory and Robby are winning in competition and in life. They let go of their hate and anger and lived in the moment. Unlike Miguel and Sam who are currently living such miserable lives. Jealousy and hate filled emotions got to them while Tory and Robby have moved on from that.

The comments here will mostly be positive because of survivor ship bias, people who like the show will watch this video and comment good things, while people who don’t like the show most likely won’t watch it, and those who do comment negative things will not get a lot of likes and not be seen as often. Don’t get me wrong I love cobra kai, but if you want to see a general consensus of cobra kai youtube comments is probably not the place to look for it

What bad reviews? In the week since its release I have not read or heard one single bad review of Season 4. Some people have pointed out the odd little issue here and there, but on the whole the reviews were pretty much positive.

The only negative part for me was that johnny and daniel split the dojos. Should have been obvious from the start they needed to combine styles but yet they both can't believe their own styles didn't work. Theres a reason robby and hawk were both finalists and thats because they both succesfully combined the styles.

I believe Robbie's extended hold on his kick was more of a reference to Bruce Lee in either Enter the Dragon, or The Way of the Dragon (or both)...I believe it's the former. Check it out.

Most complete breakdown I've seen so far 👌

In the final scene with Daniel at mr miyagi’s grave, I at first thought he was talking to fellow karate kid Julie Pierce. But it’ll be awesome seeing Chozen back in the fray too.

I’m interested to see who will even be in Cobra Kai in season 5. It caused Robby to have an emotional break down at the end so it’s safe to assume he won’t go back, he will probably try to get Kenny on a better path too. Tory probably doesn’t trust Silver at all after finding out that he rigged her match, and she would probably be the only one that would visit Kreese, and he can tell her he was framed and I’m sure she would get out too at that point. Obviously Cobra Kai will have enough sensei’s but they seem to be running out of contending students, they might have to bring in new big threats to Cobra Kai.

I think the new Cobra Kai students will be part of Kenny's new cliq that will beat up Anthony, Kenny's father overseas serving in the military has a photo of Kenny dressed in cobra kai gi with Terry Silver holding the trophy, Kenny's dad's proud of his son, shows the picture to his C.O., It's revealed SGT Mike Barnes, He is upset but his son's are part of Cobra Kai too

This is the best Easter egg video I've seen on season 4 yet. Best show on anything right now. Over the last few years it feels like I've seen the proper Karate Kid 4, 5, 6, and 7 since the seasons each play out like a 5 hour movie.

Excellent video and great analysis, my friend. As always! Just a few you might have missed (not that it matters because you nailed all the important ones!) are these: -When Kenny arrived at the cobra Kai dojo and Kreese made him fight Kyler... I thought that Kenny running off the mat was very similar to Daniel doing the same thing in KK1 during his first match. -Another favourite of mine was the same classical music from KK3 being played when Terry Silver was in his basement, before he kicked the wine bottle! Glad you enjoyed this season dude 😎

Loved the season! They keep growing the characters. Daniel’s wife got some depth in this one. Good old Kreese even seems to be growing a conscience.

You forgot the Easter egg of Miguel's weight gain compared to Daniel's weight gain from karate kid part 3

When Terry Silver is beating up Johnny lines he says do you wanna see some more go back to Cardiff at three

One thing you missed is that the girl Devon uses the same kick Johnny used in the KK1 Tournament where he grabs the arm and then wraps his leg and kicks. He does it in the first fight of the montage scene.

When "Training" Daniel in Karate Kid 3, Silver has the three rules; "A man can't stand, he can't fight. A man can't breathe, he can't fight. A man can't see, he can't fight." These are all referenced in Season 4 of Cobra Kai. During his sparring with Robby, Silver sweeps the leg. During his fight with Johnny, Silver hits him with a throat punch. (It's not explained but we see Johnny grabbing his throat) and of course, in the final episode when Tory accidentally elbows Sam in the eye, Silver blatantly tells her to hit the other eye.

Me personally I was happy to see The Last Dragon get a mention, I loved that film and it still holds up today, music in that film was on another level.

"They go shirtless for seemingly no reason" I understood it as symbolism. Robby sheds the colors of Cobra Kai, which is in line with his arc. Demetri in contrast is truly back to being the hawk, symbolized by his prominent tattoo being visible.

You totally missed kenny online gamer tag being kennythejet. I'm assuming that's a reference to benny the jet who was a pioneer for kickboxing and contact karate in the US

Great video! I missed a lot of those. Cobra Kai season 4 was brilliant with an excellent ending. I was not upset at all. For a show with such a silly premise, it's up there with the best, just keeps getting better!

I'm not doing one this time. YT will not reccomend my videos until I start posting regularly again so it wouldn't get many views and wouldn't really be worth the effort. CK videos are very competative now, other channels get early accsess screeners and have teams so they have a big advantage on me. That being said, I noticed so many easter eggs and callbacks this season it really made me want to do one of those videos but another channel will publish one soon im sure. I'm happy I was one of the first channels to do those types of videos for CK but it's time for me to move on. I might do an essay on the season though. Ill think about it!

CK season 4 was awesome. The 80's and movie call backs were great. The set up and the story line was great. I can't wait to season 5!

Miguel vs Eli/Hawk look like a reference to Ken vs Ryu from Street Fighter, with the same color gi and respect before match

I also think the mystery person daniel originally talked too was Julie the show just couldn't get Hilary Swank

Why does everyone think Julie is gonna show up. Most people hated that karate kid movie. It was definitely the worst one, and how would daniel even know Julie. There is no storyline of them two even knowing each other.

@@centralia83 No...even Ralph commented as she had that connection with Miyagi, it's fair game that the movie cast could appear. He also addressed that Jackie/Jaden are not connected to Miyagi, so they are not going to be on.

When daniel was bringing johnny the sanders he was whistling the same tune he sang with miyagi his first time sanding the floor.

I just really wish we could’ve heard the Terry Silver laugh. I wonder if maybe Thomas Ian Griffith can’t get his voice up that high anymore.

2:20 - I too have always wondered how Miyagi chopped beer bottles there if he had never done that before. Unless, Miyagi was joking when he said "don't know, first time". Or he just wanted Daniel to think that he had never previously done that. Daniel had kept secrets from Daniel, as revealed from Chozen in CK season 3

My only negatives for S4 was the occasional character shift that seemingly came out of nowhere. Silver saying no because he spent the last 30 years coming back from being a douche to going back after a single conversation with Kreese? Mkay... Kreese showing sympathy to anyone including Johnny and Tori respectively? Meh... Daniel's son Anthony, who has previously been a blip in the background, now has a character arc? Eh... Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this show. Been watching it since it was on YT Red. Binge it every season and can't wait for S5! These are very minor things in the long run.

Awesome video! You picked up on some things I missed. This might be a stretch, but I wondered if they were going for a reference from another 80s sports movie, Major League (1989): the part where Hawk says "I know who I am... the guy who's gonna win the whole fuckin' thing", a la Tom Berenger's Jake Taylor: "There's only one thing left to do... win the whole fuckin' thing."

Yeah maybe that knife hand with punch fighting stance looked similar. I also thought Kenny was an attempt to put Dre in cobra Kai there was a couple similarities.

In episode 4 the bathroom scene with Kenny one of the guys say ‘I think he’s gonna cry’ Call back to karate kid 1 in the change room with Daniel and Dutch as the cobra Kai’s are leaving ones of them says ‘I think he’s gonna cry’

I really enjoyed this season, better than the third one, I trust they will make something great with Miguel, I hope Johnny brings Robby to México so he can help him find Miguel, It would be the best for Miguel and Robby to patch things up. It is also the only way Johnny can go for Miguel without ruining his relationship with Robby. It would also make sense with the Tory redemption ark, now all of them would be on the good side fighting Cobra Kai. I believe they will inteoduce new main bad kids in season 5, Kyler alone would not be sufficient, maybe they bring Kenny's brother or a new kid. And Daniel will just continue teaching, neither Daniel nor Johnny will stop teaching because Tory will tell Amanda the truth about how she won, it will be part of her redemption ark in the first episode of the season, after learning that Silver cheated, they will not comply with the deal. My hope is that season 5 will end with the return of Miguel and Robby united after the what happens in México to save the other kids from Cobra Kai's new bad kid.

Enjoyed season 4. I would even say it’s better than Season 3.

How about the tournaments MC saying that the tournament will decide who is "the best around" like the song during the first tournament Daniel enters. "You're the best around, nothings gonna ever keep you down."

I especially enjoyed the Outsiders and My Cousin Vinny references because they were Ralph Macchio but not Karate Kid references.

One reference no one got was after hawk had his hair cut and showed up at the dojo it resembles that of the original Hawk from the WCW team road warriors .

I think you missed one reference. In the first Karate Kid Mr. Miyagi famously gives Daniel a 1947 Ford convertible for his date w/ Ali. In this season when Terry Silver overhears Tory and Robby's plans to go to the prom he makes sure they go, as he says, "in style" by giving him his Ferrari. I'm sure there something there that Miyagi provides Daniel w/ a classic car while Silver gives Robby and Tory a new, flashy car. Also, I don't get the negative reviews. I thought this season was the best since Season 1

Best of the Best is probably my favorite martial arts movie from the era. Very quotable!

It is. The actual originator of Goju Ryu was Chojun Miyagi. The movie took the name, it wasn't made up for the films.

Goju-Ryu, Shito-Ryu, Isshin-Ryu, Wado-Ryu, Shoto-Kan & Kyokushin-Kai all stem from Okinawa-Te. Our katas are all the same (w/slight variations), body conditioning, philosophies & teaching methods are all the same. There are slight variations to techniques for identifying the system, but the root is only 1.

When Miguel was down I thought for sure Daniel was going to come back and actually do the secret Miyagi hand rubbing healing technique this time. Maybe we'll see it in season 5.

in the 1st episode when johnny said "sue me for what" it was lik ein rocky 5 when rocky punched washington duke saying "sue me for what" i also just now realied. when kreese said " i AM kobra kai" it was sort of like sidious saying "i AM the senate"

In episode 10 Amanda says to Tory that she's been checking in and attending her sessions with Dr. Hillier. B.B. Hillier is the author of the paperback novelizations of the KK movies!

Now Johnny did see daniel do this move to Kreese in season 3 so he saw it coming, simular to Chozen seeing Daniel to do the crane kick When daniel was at miyagis grave site last scene, daniel said he cant honor bet with men who have no honor, simular to when Chozen said to Mr miyagi in karate kid 2 when daniel broke all the ice.. "We dont honor bet with coward" is what chozen said

Another 80's reference was Kenny's screen name was Benny The Jet. A callback from the sandlot. Benny The Jet.

Needless to say, season 4 is a BIG success if the fans can't wait for season 5.

You missed a big one. In the beginning of the flashback when Johnny was a kid, his mom comes in and makes something in reference to Mrs. Wilson next door. That makes reference to an old tv show in the 50s, Dennis The Menace. This is just an observation. Sam drives a C class Amg. In the scene with Miguel at the dealer, the car in the background is also a C class AMG. The big brake system gives it away. Daniel has a S class, but I don’t think it’s an AMG. One thing I noticed with Silver is that his Ferrari California wasn’t up to date with registration. One thing that definitely shows how big of an ego Terry has, is that he is driving a Mercedes Maybach by himself with no chauffeur lol.

There's a line by Terry in KKIII about teaching the 3 D's to Daniel and he repeats it in an episode to his students.

You missed the old Vietnam buddies photo in episode 2 when Kreese speaks to Tori in his office (with Terry, Kreese, and possibly Dugan?)

The biggest one you missed is Daniels love for Nikes, he has Nikes on in KK1 and 2 and throughout the entire Cobra Kai series and at the end of season 4 at Miyagis gravesite.

S4E5 Match Point, that scene where Silver is explaining the 3 Ds, you'll notice he's giving commands in Korean (not Japanese) because Cobra Kai as we learned in Season 3 is Tang Soo Do based. Tang Soo Do hailing from Korea.
