Nice older Cobra 148 GTL. Glad to see it back up and running properly, Matt. The OLD radios I used to work on will, sadly, probably never cross your bench. I'm talking about older Autoline, Uniace, Pace, Royce, Radio Shack/Realistic, GE, Midland and other ancient squawk boxes of yesterday. There are few, if any, parts radios left to even salvage from. Maybe this a good thing. Everyone wants the "Bigger, Better, Louder radios of today. I admit, I do like what you can do with radio's from the last couple of decades. 🙂 Keep cranking them out, and I'll on keep smilin'. 👍👋👊👊 😑🦗

You're certainly are keeping busy. Hard to find repairmen for radios today. Yet extremely difficult to find someone who takes the pride in repairs like you do.

Matt recently did the bulletproof upgrade package on a connex for me. I get complements on how this radio sounds all the time. It was well worth it. Thanks

Huh yes I’ve just purchased a Taiwan 🇹🇼 ROC Cobra 🐍 148 from an estate sale Let me tell you when I hooked it up it took couple of minutes to get RF Audio coming out of the speaker 🔈 lol Hasn’t been turned on since we were in high school 🏫 lol 😂 Definitely needs a medic 👨‍⚕️

That's a great upgrade! If i wanted to run an external meter on one of these fine 148's can i run wire from the original S meter to a plug on the back and use an external meter? I'm wanting to use the yaesu meter. Thank you, great video.

Great looking radio! Funny, I was just looking at these on eBay and wondering if I should get one. Matt? I also like that digital meter with the voltage meter. Maybe we can add that to my 29 NW also. The one thing I don’t understand is the S9. What is that? Like I said I’m new to this so don’t blast me 😆. Nice job as always Matt

If you find what seems like a good one on ebay then definitely go for it, absolutely great radios. Better than the new digital menu driven rigs in my opinion. Yes the digital s/rf meter can go in a 29.
