    Hey thanks for the video! I have a quick question... First I will give context and backdrop. I am close to pulling the trigger on an AP, and would load a 91 octane tuning map, as all but one station around me carries 91. There is the one station that has 93. If I run the 93 while having the 91 tune, will this reduce my chances of knock even further? I see this as simply so in my head, but was looking for others inputs of experience, knowledge on this: i know these motors are sensitive... so i want to do everything right if I do anything to the car. I already have plans, but those can change in a moment... I remember hearing engine knock in my dad's Mach1 on 91 octane years back; that's actually the moment I learned about compression and how different fuels burned at different rates and intensities... Cool memory. Anyhow, I think my STI may also be craving higher octane fuel. I know my 11WRX went through some pistons due to my lack of diligence in regards to the tuning of it.. I have the IAG AOS and Cyl4 cooling mods about to be installed on the STI but am kinda just waiting to pull the trigger until I'm confident with the car and it's future in the garage (12,700mi bone stock at the moment). I've heard, from the depths of the forums, of piston ring land issues even on the 2020 with the RA pistons at or below the hp levels I would like to enjoy with this platform, and might end up just throwing some H-tuffs in there if it comes down to that...

  • @dsport

    A new battery without a charger will most likely be fine. In fact, even a slightly used battery will be OK. Installation and reflash don't end up taking that long. However, it's a safety measurement. You do not want your battery to die during the reflash, or your ECU could be toast. We tried it once without a battery charger on the factory (almost brand-new) battery, and we had no issues. Better safe than sorry, though.

    As far as the HWG you had mentioned that to only use it if not meeting boost, so im on the stage 1+ w/Big Sf and the program says it should at 19psi boost. I've only reached 15psi, is this something that should warrant the change to the HWG?

  • @dsport

    @dsport

    4 жыл бұрын

    Hey Jason, If the map says it should be at a specific boost and it's not reaching that peak boost, then it should justify that. However, to be safe, you should reach out to Cobb in case something else is preventing your ECU from meeting its target boost.

  • @dsport

    @dsport

    5 жыл бұрын

    The 248whp was our BASELINE. This is with the full Remark Catback exhaust. Stock, this WRX put down 244.95 whp and 247.18 lb-ft of torque. A lot of OEMs don't have accurate engine power, but the wheel horsepower is the most accurate in the end for real-life power numbers that make it down to the wheels. This is the Remark Exhaust video, it has the before and after dyno (Stock vs Exhaust): kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4iNxc-xd5iXfc4.html

  • @dsport

    It's important to know what upgrades are on the car before choosing the proper map for your car. These engines are pretty sensitive to changes, even an intake system would require a specific tune. So be sure to have someone take a look at the car if you can't tell what has been done to it.
