    I called spectrum about my self installation kit and this lady told me I needed to have a cord hanging from out the wall. I don't have that so I was so disappointed but after watching this I realize I do have everything I need to set up my internet. I have multiples of those wall things!!

    Well glad you figured it out. The cable company can install a coax to pretty much any room you want. This video is just how to take a raw coax cable and make it an coax outlet. Maybe I will make a video on how to run a coax cable to a room. Thanks for watching and keep me posted.

    Also, once the jack is mounted, consider adding a 90 degree angle connector to help keep the cable more flush to the wall. Minimize future repairs...

    The braided shield should NOT be cut off. Instead you push it back against the outer PVC jacket, that way its out of the way of the connector. The braided shield helps reduce noise on the line and is important that it is touching the actual connector.

    I did the same process as you, i also bought the kit the F connector, the wall coax plate, and when i connect my xfinity stater kit it doesn't work

    How did you get it in the wall and what is it connected to? I’m so confused. If someone already has it installed at the point where you begin then wouldn’t there already be a cover on it?

    You go in the attic, fish it down the wall, cut a whole in the drywall, put in a blue outlet wiring box, run the wiring through the box and run the other end of the wire allllll the way across your attic to wherever your ISP installed they’re splitter, then connect your new coax cable to the splitter. Easy, right?

    @@viix3815 my house had the coax in the wall already. I just had to terminate the coax and add the coax wall plate. You will need to drop a coax line through the wall from the attic space. If you are not a handy person then hire a low voltage installer. Probably cost you 75 dollars to drop line into your wall. Thank you for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

    No you can't convert an electrical outlet into a coax outlet. But you can wire drop a new coax cable down inside the wall and make a new coax outlet for your modem.

    I’m installing rg11 cable in new build, will any coxial plate connector work . I notice the ones at big box stores say 2.4 and I don’t want to loose efficiencies of the rg11 cable if I can get better performing wall plate?

    Any coaxial plate will do. The efficiency comes from the coax connection itself. Just make sure to follow all the steps and your all good. Thank you for watching.

    Yes for sure. If its a house then you can run a coax cable from the location where your cable comes into the house. Its usually in box on the side of your house. The cable company can do it for 25 dollars. Or you can buy a coax splitter and attach it to the coax in your parents room run one cable to your parents TV and the other to your room. Hope this helps.     so i just bought xfinity wifi and i plugged the power cord into the wall and then the coax cord into the coax port or whatever but when we let it sit like the video said my modem box's lights that were supposed to come on and its because of the coax outlet is thie the only way??

    The coax has to plug into the modem and the connect a cat5e or cat6 from the modem to the wifi router. Unless your modem is a combo modem router then its even easier.

    I believe you would have to connect the coax cable inside to the coax cable outside. Depending on where the cable is in the house you might run the cable through the attic to the outside. Hope this helps you. Thanks for watching.

    I have a cord running through the wall it’s the coaxial screw on cord However it was used for Television instead of internet, would replacing it with a plate allow me to use it for my modem? Or should the cord still be able to connect to my modem regardless? I haven’t been able to get mine set up

    You can use it for a coax cable modem. Plug in the modem and have your ISP send a signal to the modem.

    My cable guy told me my lines were not active in my bedrooms and I would have to get streaming in order to have cable in the other rooms. I wonder if this would work for me. I truly feel he was trying to up sale me.

    Only way to really know is to install the wall plates and hook up your tv or if you have a network cable tester you can use it to test the cable. I have a video showing how to use the VDV Scout Pro it tests coax and data lines. Keep me posted. Thanks for watching.

    How long does the cable from the wall last?I have a spectrum self install kit coming and I have the cable coming out the wall but it hasnt been used in like 2 years

    @@beastifiedification You can just connect to the cable coming out of the wall. However I would recommend spending the 3 or 4 dollars on the wallplate. Its better to seal up the opening to keep bugs out of the house.

    The cable should run through the wall into a box that is usually located on an outside wall near a garage. That's where the cable company sets up your service.     Are there companies that can come do this for you? We’re trying to connect our cable but we don’t have a coax outlet and I’m not sure what outlet has the right cable for this and I don’t wanna just cut a random cable and try and connect a coax outlet to it

    Absolutely. All major cable companies will come out and install the cable lines for you. They might charge you but not always.

    You need the coax coming into the house. Cable company can install one for you.

    Nope its low voltage and you can touch a coax cable and feel absolutely nothing.

    thanks for the video! is the wall plate necessary? We can't put our sofa against it with the wall plate, so we pulled the coax cable out from the wall and pushed the couch against where the wall plate was. is this a fire hazard? thanks!

    is there only one coax cable at one spot in the house? im trying going to have to try and connect my modem which requires this type of connection. i need this in my room but im pretty sure the only cable i have is in my living room which is too far. Please help! i live in an apartment btw

    In most instances you will have a coax in each room. If not, then just purchase a coax splitter and you can turn one coax into 2 coax cables. Then run the other coax to the bedroom. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

    Just play the video in reverse! Lol. Its actually very easy. Just unscrew the plate then unscrew the coax from the plate. Thats it. Keep me posted if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching.

    How would the cable company install the actual wires and outlet in my wall? I need to be wired in a back bedroom but there's no existing cable outlet. Is that a big process? Do they have to drill?

    If you have a coax cable in the wall box then just follow my steps. If you dont have a coax cable in the wall you will have to run a coax from the attic into the wall.

    @@hustleman8797 you can run the wires along your baseboards. It won't look as clean but if you use cable clips it helps with the ascetic look.

    @@hustleman8797 yes the boards that run along bottom of your walls. You can attach the coax cable with clips and run the cable from wherever your cable company has the cable coming into the house.

    Yes absolutely. Just use a drill bit that's the same size so the coax is snug. Also use some caulking to seal the cable on the outside of the house. Keeps bugs out.

    I live in a trailer is this possible? Plus iv had internet before so there's a lot of cables going everywhere like going under and stuff I am lost

    It will work for sure. The coax cables go to the same spot outside of your trailer. As long as you have cable service you can plug a TV into it or a cable modem if you have internet service. Its very simple. Keep me posted.

    Usually the modem will come with a small coax cable but not always. Probably should purchase one on Amazon and make sure you measure how long a cable you will need.

    You can't put a splitter before your modem. You should have at least 2 coax cables. One coax to the modem and one to a TV. Otherwise use your modem and purchase streaming services like sling tv or Philo. You get more channels for between 20 and 30 dollars a month than expensive cable services. That's what I do.     @@zachwheat6709 its not recommended because it can weaken the signal to your modem. If you do choose to use a splitter, make sure it's rated at 3.5 dBmV. That should help from losing signal.

    If you have a coax already installed in the wall then your good to go. However if you don't have a coax in the wall you have to run a coax cable from a location where your cable comes into the house.

    If I've never used the coax outlet and there's a coax cable already there (23+ years) should I call the ISP so they can check if that cable goes anywhere? Or should I just bite the bullet and install the coax wall plate in hopes that it'll have a signal. I'm not trying to pay $90 for xfinity to come out here and do their thing if I can do this myself for ~$10

    Install the coax yourself. You can order your moden from the cable company or buy one on Amazon. Just make sure and ask your cable company what kind of modem to buy. They will probably try to sell you one or even worse rent you a modem. I would buy a modem its much cheaper in the long run. Then plug the modem in to the coax outlet. You can have your cable company just send a signal to the modem to get it setup. As far as the coax cable if its in the wall then I should already go to outside cable lines. Try this first before you have them come out and charge you a bunch of money. Keep me posted and thanks for watching and if you subscribed thank you as well.

    @@UltimateTechHub definitely subscribed, and yeah I was thinking of doing exactly what you suggested I just need my modem to get here today so I can check if the coax signal is live. That way I can go ahead and install the coax wall plate. Is the crimping tool necessary for the connection? Or can I just use pliers to tighten connection from the wall coax to the connector that goes to the wall plate?

    Hi Mike, it's me again I'm a month late, but I just ran into this video again. An update on my situation, I had my isp come out here since the signal from my coax was dead, they came and installed the lines themselves and told me they didn't know why I had a coax cable previously cause it didn't go anywhere. All in all thanks for you video.

    So tomorrow they are going to re locate the modem to my room but I’m just realizing that my room doesn’t have a out let ? While the internet provider still be able to move the modem into my room ?

    Yes they can run a coax cable to that room. It's a pretty easy installation. I would film them with your camera so you can see exactly how they do it. Then next time you can install it yourself.

    @@mannytheoriginal2114 Yes you can connect the coax wall plate. And yes you can connect the modem to that outlet. If the modem is not getting a signal from that outlet call your internet provider and have then resend a new signal to the modem. That should work perfectly.     What kind of cable comes from wall. I just moved in new house . Actually, it's very old house and the only cable I found , it's tv cable coming from wall. I even do not know if it's working cable. There is no any opening in wall, it just coming through old wooden wall , I can not push or pull this cable. Can I just cut this cable without pushing it inside the wall? Please, help!!!!!!!

    Yes you can cut the coax cable if you want. There is any area by your garage that all of your coax will meet up at. That coax may work if you have cable service. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it.
