    Cal as a UK fan i want to thank you for everything you've done for the program. There has been high highs and low lows but through it all you stayed a class act with the fans. No matter what happened behind closed doors you were always respectful in public. Personally i would have loved to seen you retire in blue when the time was right but i guess the clock ran out. I want to apologize for all of the nastiness that you've endured from our fan base. We love the game, we love our team and while that doesn't excuse some people's behavior it shows (in an odd way) how much they care. Again I thank you and Ellen for your time here and the service you provided on and off the court to our communities. You will always be apart of this ole Kentucky home. I wish you and Arkansas the best of luck and a prosperous future, hopefully you can have many runner-ups in the national title game 😉 With love we thank you #BBN 🫡 (also thank you for not putting on Louisville red 🤦‍♂️)

    On the one hand it's bold that he's saying this. On the other hand, I appreciate the honesty. It's so easy to bullshit to the media so the fact people are willing to say things even if they're controversial is something nice for a change. Coaching isn't just about winning or losing.

    It isn't honesty with him, he is just good at bullshitting. Maybe the best. He is a used car salesman. He will convince you any vehicle is solid and runs like new regardless of the mileage. But when you go back for the fourth time after the first cars have broken down and he gives you the same spiel, you get wise to it.

    You could obviously say the same about Eric Mussleman…he left Nevada after the twins left for the NBA so they felt like they were left high n dry, fast forward to him leaving for USC cuz the hogs have ZERO scholarship players on the roster. I’m sure Cal will leave Arkansas on his time when the roster needs to be rebuilt and he is has no juice left to rebuild again. Y’all take it personally when it’s just a business. Year one in most cases are patch jobs trying to win games with leftover players n transfers last minute. Just be glad ur previous coach left you with great memories and banners hanging up.

    Cal will win at Arkansas. No doubt about it. I am a die hard Kentucky fan and I’m glad he is gone because it just wasn’t going to work anymore in Lexington. He’s still a great coach and I think this fresh start at Arkansas will reinvigorate him. He may even beat our ass for 5 years but I still think it was the right move for both parties.

    Reading the comments here - Y’all name one, just one, perfect Coach. It’s great to have high expectations but ….. . What’s reality? I’m an Ark fan and a lot of the sports podcasters think Cal is the 2nd coming. He’s 65 and maybe he has 2-3 years “productive” years left? Currently the Team cupboard is bare. Coaches are still trying to figure out NIL. Saban left because of it. But he was pretty much at the end of his career but maybe without NIL, he may have stayed 3 more years.

    While I appreciate what you did for Kentucky, and will forever be grateful for the excitement, the talent, and most of all the championship, you did stay too long. The last 4 seasons are evidence of that. He will have his place in UK history, and he will get his flowers and comeback ceremony someday. But let's not get it twisted, Cal is stubborn. He ignored the fans, made it clear getting guys to the pros was more important than winning, increasingly alienated himself, said dumb things, and delivered wildly inconsistent results on the court. When given one last shot to run it back with the understanding things would change, his ego would not allow that and he ran out the door. It was what is best for himself and both programs, sure, and I know Mitch Barnhart isn't innocent in all this, but he brought a lot of things on himself. Arkansas will be contenders immediately. But depending on how long he stays, unless things change, you all will get wise to the used car salesman routine as well.

    Hope Cal has learned to change with the game. That means EMBRACING NIL, getting VETERAN 3 and 4 year players from the portal and yes, even developing some veterans yourself. AND most importantly NOT signing 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 five-star 'one and done's' where there are not enough minutes of playing time to go around!

  • @stephen4763
    @stephen47633 ай бұрын

    Many times expectations are way beyond reality. What’s wrong with enjoying the season and the tournament experience? It’s so hard to win a Natty. And today, a school can have a few top tier players and with a little luck with non injuries, can go far. UCLA is tops with 11 but it has been 19-20 years since they’ve had one. Prior to 1991 Duke won a lot but no Natty. Between 91 - 2015. Five. I say be a fan and enjoy the experience otherwise you’re setting yourself up for a lot of disappointment.

    Kentucky fans shouldn’t be mad at Cal, they should understand he wanted to be there but your golden standard clouded ur vision. That’s equivalent to Bama/Clemson football running a HOF coach outa town for no natty in 5 years. Jokes on you cuz the gap where blue bloods dominate everyone is over, the talent is overflowing and there is little to no distance between 5 stars n 3 stars after solid coaching…that’s why you see insurance agents from Oakland drop 12 3’s in March. ANOTHER MANS TRASH IS ANOTHER MANS TREASURE… Ps: the grass isnt always greener but I’m sure Kentucky knows that now.
