    Good question. I asked that same question to an immunologist researcher up at Western Muchigan University... That researcher said that some immune cells require helper T- cells for activation while others do not and it is not clear why this is. My best guess, and it is just a guess, is that memory cells do not require T- helper cells (or at least require them less).

    Apoptosis is basically the cell killing itself. All living human cells have this capability. Usually cells will only undergo apoptosis if a white blood cell signals them to do this or if the cell itself recognizes a major problem within itself (like too much DNA damage).
