PSA: Flushable wipes truly are NOT flushable. It's a boone for plumbers, because they do not degrade. I lost track of how many times we had to get our drains snaked.

They are only in-theory-flushable if you have PVC pipes, which aren't even legal everywhere. If you don't have pvc pipes, wipes will clog the commode pretty quickly, which is way better than the other option: they manage to clear the house's PVC pipes and gradually collect in the metal pipe in the yard. That's a $10,000 problem.

Pour 2 full kettles of boiling water (keep lid closed while boil kettle 2nd time) & add a dash of dishwashing liquid into toilet bowl. Close lid & leave for as long as possible! Couple hours is best sometimes 1 hour is ok. Come back try flush. If doesn’t work, repeat! Can leave overnight. Job done! No need for messy plungers! Worked every time for us

I usually add a cup.of dish washing liquid to the bowl and let it sit in there for a few hours. If I still need to use a plunger, I first start by plugging any near by sinks and tubs then add a good inch of water in them. By doing this, when I do use the plunger it seems to have more clearing action.

Unfortunately we have rentals and my husband is an expert. 1st use multiple flushes during a poop to avoid clogs, 2nd hold the handle down to allow extra water to flush continuously for a complete flush, 3rd if there is a clog in the pipes use lye and hot water to clear nearby pipes. Don’t use too much toilet paper and throw wipes in a trash can.

I feel like if the clog needs a toilet auger, it might be better left to a plumber because you might mess it up somehow and be financially responsible? Am i worried for nothing? It has nothing to do with the grossness of the job. I’ve actually encountered this situation and they had to replace the toilet all together. Not sure why..

No, using an auger or a drain snake to unclog a drain is something that house cleaners can do without damaging either toilets, sinks or tubs. Great question.

A way that works most times and is less messy. Squirt some dawn in the bowl. Fill up a bucket with hot water (do not boil you may crack toilet) and simply pour into bowl. Do not over fill the bowl. The pressure will usually push the clog down and the dawn creates a lubricant. This will work most times however sometimes you just got to use that auger. After you use that auger clean it with a hose you do not want that laying around your garage. Also make sure that auger tip is inside the hole before using it will scratch the inside of your toilet.

Oh no, sorry about that situation. 😮

If you know your toilet just has a toilet paper cloggage, If there is water in the toilet and the toilet is clogged, let the toilet sit for a couple hours until all the water is gone and there is just toilet paper and shit left. Then, put on a pair of gloves and scoop it out into a bag or something. Throw that away asap. Then, flush the toilet. The water shouldnt overflow. If it does, make sure you have the tank open and push the flapper down at the bottom of the tank. It will stop the water flow from the jets immediately. Ok. So, the toilet needs to have water in the bowl so he plunger can create a seal easier. Now get youe handy dandy plunger and stick it in there and give it like 10 pumps just to be sure. Or as many as you’d like. Make them nice pumps so that poop and tp gets broken up

Great tips for clogged toilets!

Many older houses have smaller pipes or roots getting in their sewer peyote so stuff had to go down in smaller amounts. LET PEOPLE KNOW Tell your family & make make a cute, carefully worded sign for guests that if you have people who have to WIPE A LOT, tell them to flush the poop first before they wipe, then flush again after they wipe And ONLY toilet paper goes into the toilet. And BE SPARING with the TP! You don't need a big handful ever. I told my kids to only grab 4 sheets at a time.

My toilet got clogged because I pooped and it was split into two parts, and both of the logs went in at the same time, so what’s blocking it is my poop, not toilet paper (when I poop i put one toilet paper in for no splash on my behind and then I poop then flush so I was on my first flush ain’t even get to wipe, went to my dads bathroom to finish the job)

Quick question. Our toilet clogs way to easily and I've tried preventing it from filling up but it fills up while it drains, the hot water & dish soap doesn't work most the time and I've tried using the plunger but that doesn't work either so what should I try or do I just need to keep repeating those different techniques?

Yikes! Well a plunger will remove the poop. You may want to remove the water since it has soap in it and flushing may cause suds. Keep me posted on how this works out. 👍

Right, after you've rinsed the poop off in the toilet, there is usually a bathtub or shower where you can use clean water to wash it off if it can't be done with clean water from the toilet.

I have bladder issues, and pee myself frequently, so I have a set of thin washcloths that I wear inside my inside, instead of a panty liner, and I think one must have fallen into the toilet accidentally when I sat down, and now it's all backed up with poop and paper. what do I do to try to clear it?

At someone else's house, I'd tell them call a plumber. I am not a pooper scooper. (By the way, equine veterinarians have gloves that go above the elbows. Otherwise, buy a hazmat suit.) When we were not able to put toilet paper in the toilet because the outside pipes were being worked on, I just could not wipe my poop and put it in the lined wastepaper basket. IDEA! I got my dog's poopy bags and put my 'gold' in it, tied it and tossed it. RELIEF!

This is the second time in a matter of weeks that I've had sickness and diarrhea and clogged the toilet. It wasn't all watery, more mushy 🤢 last time it wasn't so bad, I just waited til the next day when I was OK and pulled it all out in carrier bags and wrapped about ten of them around the og bag and threw it in the wheelebin. This time I've had to leave it overnight because I was so ill and this morning I can feel my stomach bubbling again as if it's getting ready to add more to the already half way up the bowls worth of poo. I even flushed a couple of times in between so this wouldn't happen but I underestimated how much was still to come and how fast it'd come out. I've got people coming over tomorrow and I need this sorted. I darent ask the building caretaker, I'm too embarrassed, so it's gotta be me 😭 once I get all the poo out into a bag it'll be easy enough but I was hoping to find a way to do without having to pull it out with my hands with me still feeling sick. I use bags on my hands so it covers my arms too. I really don't want to have to do that today

I just use my toilet as a trash can so I can save on paying for trash service. So everything goes in the toilet. Food, paper, old magazines, dead batteries...... Sometimes I have to force things down the hole though.

I have a toothbrush flushed down the toilet. Now it's full to the brim with waste. I tried the plunger 🪠 first and it did go down some. I tried the toilet auger next and it went down some. But it's still not fixed. My other toilet flushes but the waste doesn't go down. How do you fix that problem?

+LaToya Dorsey Yikes! I’m not exactly sure how to fix a toilet with flushed toothbrushes. You may need to call a plumber on this one. It sounds like the neck of the toilet is probably jammed with the toothbrush. If you can’t get it out with the message you’ve tried a plumber may be your best bet. 👍
