Clifton Thunderbird Bass - we need to talk about it..

Hey folks, today's video is a bit different from my usual covers. I'm reviewing the ‪@cliftonguitars1352‬ Clifton Thunderbird bass, and let's just say, it's been an interesting experience. As a tech journalist and a bass enthusiast, I always look forward to trying out new gear, but this one... well, it's a bit of a letdown.
I'm using my new setup with the Ampeg SCR-DI. The Clifton Thunderbird had the potential to be a solid choice for entry level bassists, but unfortunately, it falls short in several areas. There are quite a few aspects that Clifton could have done better.
I'll be going into detail about what works and what doesn't with this bass. Whether you're considering buying it or just curious about it, this review should give you a clear picture of what to expect.

any of those brands ok naman basta piliin mo ung gusto mong color/itsura tapos ipa-full setup mo lang sa luthier para comfortable tugtugin (added cost nga lang). pero in terms of specs and warranty ung latest version ng RJ basses mukang ok dahil naka stainless steel frets at may free setup warranty sila.

Grabe. Kawawa.

i agree. daming quality issues. ok naman if marunong ka mag ayos at mag setup ng sarili pero medyo may gastos parin sa pag repair ng issues. might as well get something else na matino na out of the box and minor setup na lang.

@@irajamesbassist yep!

Looks like you took a piece of crap and made it into a usable bass.......good for you! But with the amount of work you had to put into it and the parts you had to replace, its probably better to just get a better bass to start with. But if that's all you can get your hands on, then go for it and do the work yourself. It can't be that easy to get a Thunderbird bass in the Phillipines!

I completely agree with you. Spending more money to fix a $100ish bass that should’ve been playable right out of the box is not a wise decision. In the secondhand market here in the Philippines, a used Epiphone Thunderbird goes for around $250-500 (which is ridiculous considering a brand new one from the only authorized dealer costs the same assuming they have the stock). However, I find fixing things myself to be a fun and rewarding experience. Sometimes it’s just about the satisfaction of doing it yourself. 😊
