Very helpful. I switched from CU to Notion and wasted a lot of time learning that I really only want to use it for databases and public questionnaires. Now I’m going back to CU.

Norton is more playful and suitable for personal use. ClickUp is more practical and suitable for use in work.

The way I see it is that for someone how feel the need to build everything from the ground up and loves the building and tweaking process Notion is a tempting solution, but if you are eager to get things done as effectively and quickly as possible, ClickUp or For instance Asana (which we use) is the the better way to go. And BTW we have after your recommendations tried out Miro, but found out that for our needs we prefer Milanote to gather and organize ideas. I really like your channel. Thanks for all your good work!

Tom, this is again a GREAT video! For beginners it shows the "new" docs with databases. And for the Pro's, they immediately understand your top explanations and differentiation between these tools, but with focus on what we need to do (no feature striptease, thanks)

Thanks for the thoughtful, balanced comparison of the the two tools across a couple of important workflows. I had been close to just going with Notion until I realized it lacks the ability to define/execute actions, no way to create an auto-incremented integral key field like one would use for a classic ID for an Issue Tracking database, things like that. And so just started experimenting with ClickUp today. So good timing :) and thanks again. I see also that Miro is trying to include some PM features as well now...

You can also add Coda, which has replaced Excel spreadsheets for me because it does things that are not possible in Notion (the formulas are much better and more flexible in Coda). You have to test each app for a while and then over time you will actually find out which is better for which purpose. What doesn't work: one app for everything. That is often the wish of many, but let's be honest, it just doesn't work! Many people use Notion as a content calendar/planner and this combination of wiki and simple database works great in Notion. As you also said, everything is a page... and that has some advantages! But when it comes to planning/project management but also task planning, I find Notion unsuitable. This is better done with any task manager like Todoist or with apps like Clickup or Monday if the focus is more project managment and teams

So, I set up Clickup for my LIFE today in about 3 hours--and that included watching a couple of how-to videos. To have set up the same thing in Notion, it would have taken me 3 days. Notion is a HUGE time suck, and that's the main reason I quit using it. Not to mention it doesn't have quite the project based functionality of Clickup. I know you can't connect info in Clickup the same way, but honestly, it doesn't take me long to get to another place in Clickup--so it's not that big a deal. Great video, thanks!

And - at least the last time I checked - both lack the most important feature for me: Full-Text Search in all content of a "project" (incl the attachments and handwritten stuff). For some crazy reason, only Evernote seems to be able to do this...

Huge Notion user here. Once you get the hang of it, it's super easy. Clickup feels heavy/cheap and taped together by scotch tape. Don't even get me started on their "Docs". Curious what 3.0 will bring bc while their concepts are good, the experience is horrible.

I've been digging deep in Clickup for 7 days. Can't copy and paste forms... can't even easily find them to edit. And now the big deal breaker, if you create a form that automatically creates a task (cool) that task will not be seen on the dashboard (such as a dashboard for a support ticket or a dashboard of the installation manager seeing completed jobs). NO UPDATE at all. What you say? Yep, the manager will not see any update unless they read the mind of the team member who submitted the form and magically know to manually update the dashboard... as in do a hard refresh on their browser. I can't even imagine how any company uses this app! Thanks for your comments about Notion - I'm heading there now.

@@DerekShenk Yea man, in my experience, its like everything in Clickup needs a hard refresh (even in desktop app) for it to be seen. Notion ain't perfect bc its a blank canvas, but as long as you know what you wanna build, you can create some pretty awesome stuff and collab nicely.
