Kyle, If this is going to be your forever home, then I have a suggestion. Make sure you have a wonderful master bedroom, a bathroom and laundry facilities on the first floor. When you hit your 70s and 80s, you'll thank me for the suggestion. 🙂

In my opinion these two young people are where they want to be and they have certainly made a good start with all their out buildings and a very cosy cabin, now they are ready for their forever home, it is so nice to be in a position to do the big build. cheers Kyle n Sierra.

Are those trees big enough for to build a log cabin with? Also, maybe wait till further into winter to cut them down? I believe the old Scandinavian way was to wait until mid winter when the water content was at it lowest and thus it makes the curing/drying time much less, so you get less shrinking over time. Excited to watch the progress.

As I was watching you walking along the newly cut road with Cierra, I suddenly had this vision of the two of you walking the same road in 50 years explaining to your grandkids how the two of you cut it as a new road through the woods when you were young.

You two are so blessed to have found each other. And the fact that you share the same passion in life is great. You can see the excitement in your guys eyes just talking about this next adventure. Most importantly, stay safe and take care of your health. Take care.

They are boyfriend and girlfriend still, but I've been hoping to see a woodland wedding which would be wonderful!

I'm a cow/cattle person. You cannot get one cow as bovines are herd animals. A solitary cow is a very unhappy animal. I would recommend 4, but you must know how to care for them property, have the proper resources, shelters, feed, and veterinary care. Cows are big undertakings but are also providers.

I absolutely believe if the people don't move out away from the city's get Land paid off, and their cabin paid off and grow most of their own food at least and raise their own chickens and rabbits, ect. Or whatever animals that you want to eat, maybe a couple goats you can milk and make butter out of and hunt, you will have to do whatever the government tells you to do .

You’s probably know this all ready : raise the ground x 36” on and around the build sight . Lay in all the plumbing for one day . The cabin we own was a dry cabin . In the 1960’s pipes were installed . 1970’s put two 55gallon oil drums were put in the ground 50’ away from the cabin ran crock to barrels dug 4 25’ trenches (leach field)crock river rock shingles stone ,east from oil drums 🛢️ put the throne in the tub room . Still working . Good luck to ya’s

Start planning all the details now that you want to see in the finished home, I do enjoy your rustic style, but this build should be well thought out with attention to detail and craftsmanship! Kyle I remember the Boundary Waters fire were in the news sometime ago how close was it from your property ? One thing to think about having a large clearing that won't feed a fire . Best of Luck on the proposed house project

Get a big rattler out of those wood piles. Looks like a high spot on the property. labor day does it for summer. The leaves are changing big time. Beautiful place. That will make a bunch of firewood, maybe some building wood for out buildings. Clear it out good. Fire protection, shy view for communications and solar power. Do it now while you are at it. I'd clear out a loop road, in/out on both sides have easy access.. Go to the backend and fall the logs pointed back so you can get ahold on the big end and pull them out easier. Looks great Think some about the drainage on the roadway. May need to shift in back and forth a little. I wouldn't cut any fresh dirt now til spring. Just be a big mud hole all winter. May need some of the sapling logs to bridge over some soft places. Be careful watch for hang ups.

THIS is why I've watched you from the beginning! Don't really care about fishing vids, but I'll watch you build ANYTHING. It's so good to see someone work so tirelessly and so well to make something useful. You're awesome!!!

As soon as you start burning wood for the season, save all of ashes, mix it with water and make lye from it. Then you can take whatever animal fats you accumulate and make soap! Good money saver/maker...I'd even buy your first bar!

Kyle, consider renting a mini excavator. Get one with a thumb, you can move trees and brush. They have a blade on them as well. Some have a six angle blade. You could remove stumps from your driveway, and yard area. IMO. Something to consider?

One suggestion. Instead of dropping your trees towards the direction you plan on pulling them drop them away from it so that when you pull them out you are not pulling against the branches

Been watching your videos since Covid's lockdown & I confess that sitting in Europe and even in the UK where ostensibly we speak the same language, the cultural differences are vast and actually sometimes even the language, not for the first time Google was my friend, having no idea what a Skid Steer was!! 🤪

It’s very cool that you are planning your forever home and it’s a log home. Can’t wait to see the progress and l know the both of you will make it your own. I am guessing your homestead now will be an air bib and a cash flow to help with your build and lifestyle. Always the best in your endeavors.

Rarely comment on vids but I just thought I would say… I have watched all your vids now and started watching you like 2 months ago, make sure you post vids as often as you can because I’m loving it and it’s inspiring me to build a get away Cabin on my land for a place to hang out to clear my head and I will defo use some tips you had when building your cabin and in the future if you can post hunting vids like traps, shooting and fishing that would be amazing ❤

I have a feeling winter is coming earlier and harder this year!! I just got back from a trip to Minnesota! The leaves were turning color already and the acorns are falling like crazy and there were over double what there normally is! That's one of the signs of a rough winter!

I’m so happy you’re building a log cabin as your main hone And you’re planning on taking your time so that you can include all the conveniences. Your current home is 20x30, now you plan on building 24x40. I hope you will have two buck stove. One in the front room & a small one in the back, bedroom area. I hope you will include a taller loft area, where your knee wall is at least 6ft tall or just build a two story home. My wish list is outrageous but it feels nice to fantasize as we learn more about what you want to build. 😂

Good job with the clearing of the driveway. Sierra went beast mode with throwing those logs.

I had my driveway cut NOT Straight on purpose. I wanted to not see the front from the back. Keeps folks from seeing the buildup out back. We really like it this way.

Definetely get a rancher. I have a 455 rancher and it is a beast. It is heavy though, but it chews through hardwood with ease. Love the content man, keep it up!

I would suggest an Echo saw. Their parent company, also Japanese, bought out Shindaiwa, the best saws on the face of the Earth! They now share technology! The CS-4910 is the best saw for the money in the world!! You can still buy the Shindaiwa version, the 492, and it is identical to the CS-4910. They are both the same price, and of course there are more dealers for Echo than Shindaiwa, but some dealers carry both. Engines for Echo/Shindaiwa are all made in Japan, and final assembly is 30 minutes from me in Lake Zurich, Illinois!! Don't go with Husqvarna or Stihl, Echo/Shindaiwa is so much better! Longer lasting, just better built! Oh, and they won't vibrate as much either!
