You know Andy's ears perked up when Matthew mentioned Javelins at 57:00
Probably one the best interviews I've seen in awhile on any channel/podcast. Well done keep it up!
Matthew Reed...what a unique guy!!! I could listen to you guys forever...please have him back, say a year or so to see where he's gone & done. Hate it that he can't talk about his "three letter agency" work...great interview!!!
He is an amazing storyteller. A great speaker and writer. If you have not picked up a copy of one of his books, you need to do it! They are hard to put down once you pick them up. I had no idea of his comprehension of military history. Amazing is the only word I have
This man's nerd-game is STRONG!

Peter Zeihan's episodes on the Realignment with Saagar and Marshal is a great place to start with his work if anyone is interested. Great podcast in general btw.

Bro I was just about to chime in referencing that peter zeihan portion of this discussion Starting at 56:30 or so It makes me wish Mathew Reed still had access to the ears of decision makers. But I listened to that 10-12 min section twice....the occurrences he describes sounds practical to me. If you’re thinking about it in terms of steps that might unfold....perhaps it’s speculation as to what would happen after Europe saw an influx of migration. But I don’t think it’s speculation that that migration will occur due to food/fertilizer shortages Just mean he suspects that migrants flooding into Europe = right wing politicians coming to power over there. In my mind it could just as easily result in extreme leftists taking power in an attempt to integrate them. Either way it’s an easy recipe for dysfunction
Andy, this has got to be the BEST interview all summer!! Matt is soft spoken Texas crazy genius. Peter Z has become my only reliable information source. Thank you so much!
Love the take on UFO's and nuclear weapons, there is something going on there, and has been for about 70 years now and yet somehow is STILL being underinvestigated. Andy im sure you knew it when you finished it but that was a top 10 episode, no doubt about it.

Pretty sure it is not being under investigated.
Great interview Andy! I watched whole thing at once
Fascinating stuff, even when the podcast took a “right turn”. Thanks Andy
As a history nerd, Matthew’s take on the issue with Rome is spot on. There were other issues added on but the military degradation is at the top especially Constantine recruiting barbarian tribesman ones they may have recently fought.
The best podcast and guest you have had on so many levels. Excellent.
Awesome!! Need to have a him on again! Thanks an great podcast as always Andy!! Cheers
Great guest, really enjoyed it!
It was really cool to listen to this podcast. I'm from Tomball TX and have been in Houston my whole life. Thanks Andy
Brilliant podcast. Thank you both
Loved this one!! Please have him on again, awesome story teller
I was hooked on this one. Great content!
Great show. Please have this man back.
Really enjoyed this one, want to hear more!
Never heard of this guy but I’m just a few minutes in and I already like him.
Aesome dude! Thank you, Andy!
Matthew Reed is an interesting guy. Obviously very intelligent and well read. Great conversation
Very good interview, Andy. I thought this might be boring, but knew I was wrong within the first 5 minutes.
Watched on Stitcher. Had to come over and like an subscribe because it was just that good. Thanks.
I’ve listened to pretty much every episode and this my be my favorite
Excellent interview.
I'm definitely getting this guys books, holy shit!
Awesome Matthew!!
This dude is the human form of the history channel
🍻 The "Sir" thing was cracking me up. Some habits die hard.
Those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it.
Loved this one! 👊
Thank you for turning me on to consuming more Peter Zeihan content Matthew Reed. Dear God man, you need to market yourself on social media platforms as an author. You're a ghost. I couldn't even find an independent author's website. And for us GenXers whose vision is failing us, please record your own audiobooks. You obviously love doing voices. Apparently it only takes a week to record a full novel. I wish you all the success at your new career. Great guest that was an entertaining wealth of information.
What a gem
He was interesting ! Great Job Andy!
Really deep discussion.
Great interview. Please get Maj. Mike Perry on if you can. His stories are wild.
Have a good week everyone
this was fantastic
Ok how can I listen to this guy more
2:28:55 I was expecting Andy to tell him that on minute one, not by the end of the podcast 🤣

I worked with an intelligence guy once in the Army. I was a regular 11B. It was pretty much his first time in the field. We dug fighting positions, his first time since basic. Then I took him on his first shit. Yes in the regular INF, you take a buddy to pull security, when you shit.
i have seen 1st hand over 2b in 1 day.....keep on keeping on...
15:00 That worry you feel requires reflections on the failings of the system, not the mindset of the individual.
KBR used to be Haliburton. Also this guy could be my literal clone personality wise, awesome guest and awesome host. This is my new fave podcast.
9:00 that's something Dan Carlin always brings up on his podcasts. How historians always look at the Roman and other ancient wars from a grand strategic POV, but meanwhile, at the end of the day, the guys on the ground were involved in large scale prison brawls. Ugly and personal.
i like matt reed u should have him on more

Awesome interview! But let just point something out Mr. Reed has a very south accent and for him to be able to pull the Russian accent as well as he did .... I mean sound the alarm ... Just saying! All jokes aside I'm gonna buy his books because they sound awesome. Thanks Andy for the awesome guest !
Last time I was this early there where only 2 genders.
Always interesting to hear how the enemy of my people thinks. Truths mixed with lies. I wonder if he believes all of it.
The end of this podcast makes me think of OJs "if I did it, this is how"
you had me at aliens
I knew Tiffany Kowalski in Houston TX 🤣
Good
DRINK SOME GOD DAMN WATER
For those wondering who the geopolitical analyst who he’s speaking of is: Peter Zeihan. Immensely smart. Great hair.
Good Morning!!!!
Mike Glover looks different in this than he usually does.
We need a Garand Thumb (Mike Jones) guest appearance.

Damn that guy can talk, luckily everything coming out of his mouth is interesting!
Matt : Hold on Andy, I need to talk more about the Roman Army........ :)
Article 15 advertisement at beginning 😆😂😆
Great interview. One observation: Mr. Stumph, sponsored by BRCC yet Starbucks clearly visible on the desk…..
Great story teller! Definitely a car salesman!!!
The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest. Was an extreme embarrassment to the Roman legions
48:50 I wonder how big of a part Garry Reid played?

This was a fantastic Podcast!
EYYY Tomball native here
This guy is just action packed with amazing analysis of some pretty broad stroke intelligence. Brilliant podcasts. Definitely gotta listen twice to absorb it all. This will probably be a dumbass question (especially against the backdrop of the episode as a whole) but I've had it for a while. The wearing of the watch so as the face is pointing inward. What's that about? Is it just a not so popular way to wear it or is there actual reasoning behind it? I can't think of a time ever that I haven't worn a watch. As a kid it was just 'non dominant hand, face up, buckle under'.

The Romans taught the people of their outlying regions, aka barbarians, their military tactics because they were in their Army. Those were Roman states and were part of the military not mercs. But still, during the Roman in fighting, they split off and used those tactics to take over their own areas and then expand.

Ummm that sounds familiar. Especially if they turned their attention back towards Rome
A lot of speculation mixed with history. Not to mention A lot of events need to combine perfectly for the for some of the book report quotes to come to pass with Russia. Bailed at the right turn.
Andy you have to get a military guy on who claims to have worked with or around UFO’s. How about Bob Lazar?

I concur. There are a lot guys who don’t speak out because of ridicule but it’s becoming safer to talk now after the government admission of UAP.
Check out the coffee up.
Thumbs up for a Mike Ritland interview 👍🏼?
The main weapon of the legion, depending on the time period, v was either a spear or a gladius. The gladius was not 4' long. It was more like 3' long and if you ended up hacking at other combatants with it, shit had gone horribly wrong for you. Ideally they would be shoulder to shoulder with their fellows covering themselves and their neighbor with their very large shields and making short, fast and vicious thrusting/stabbing attacks not slashing. You would have to completely open yourself up to swing a sword in the kind of arc required to slash. That would not only hinder you, but anybody next to you in formation. That's the basic theory anyways. Those people had to have been something else though. You're saying the military is having a hard time getting new recruits? I thought about joining for a long time when I was young. I didn't. I couldn't get past the idea of putting my life in the hands of the government. After 20+years of GWoT, I sometimes regret I didn't serve, but I very much see that I was right about not putting my life in the hands of the government. The people that run this country have not been making good decisions for a very long time.
Does anyone know of a good book about Rome?
@TheMissing8

Soldiers and Ghosts goes into really deep on the culture, tactics, battles, and life of the legions both native Roman and Auxiliary. Very good read IMO. It also covers the Hellenistic armies, too.

Quite a few. History of Rome by Michael Grant; The Fall of the Roman Empire: The Military Explanation by Arthur Ferrill; On Roman Military Matters by Vegetius; The Roman Army: The Greatest War Machine of the Ancient World by Chris McNab; Roman Soldier Operations Manual by Chris McNab; How Rome Fell by Adrian Goldsworthy; Romans at War by Simon Elliot
Bring on Mike Ritland
👍🌠💪
Sssso gooood
* Andy holds up black silhouette reference pic to a woman in a full head/body cover * Mmmm....nope
His take on UFOs around military sites would be a lot more interesting had the Pentagon not already come out and said that they're drones operated by a foreign government. I guess he missed the extensive news coverage in his analysis. Better suited for Joe Rogan.
