If all you got to do is clean the evaporator coil, it can also be done from inside the RV by simply removing the filter and reaching up into the unit with a narrow vacuum attachment to clean the face of the heat exchanger. You may not be able to clean it 100%, but you should be able to reach most of the area that needs cleaning. As for the condenser coil - after spraying it with cleaner, try flushing it backwards (from the outside in) using a garden hose. This reverses the flow and pushes all bugs and large particles back in towards the drop pan, which are then washed out below. Doing it from the outside also saves you from having to remove the cover every time.

Thanks for making this video. Great walk-through of the steps. Do you have a video of performing a deeper cleaning of the coils? the camper we purchased recently had a heavy smoker and it needs done badly.

Good video my RV is two years old and would be a good time to get on a preventive A/C maintenance schedule. I hope the vacuum will be enough. Thanks.

Preventive is always good. I did the job in Mew Mexico, mostly dust there, so the vac was all I needed.

is foam required on dirtier jobs? do you need water in that case? instead of just a dry vaccuming? if foam or cleaner is needed, what might you recommend? thanks for your very nicely done video!

Thanks Mer, I am glad you liked the video. I was fortunate my job only needed the vacuum so I don't have any personal experience with using foam. While I was researching cleaning my coils I found recommendations for a cleaner called "Awsom" and a product by Dometic called "Advanced AC Coil Cleaner". You would need to use water to rinse the coils after cleaning. You will have to be carful not to get the water into the RV.

@@Bill8DebTravels The Awesome Cleaner is cheap at a Dollar Store so is Mean Green. Both are good for removing cigarette tar and nicotine. Rinsing well after use of either is essential. The Mean Green is more aggressive, keep it off your clothes. Thanks for the video!

Unfortunately this video is incomplete. There's more to cleaning than vacuuming one of the two coils and cleaning is only half of of the work to a long ignored A/C to improve cooling.

When your talking about cleaning the evaporator coil you say remove the condenser metal . You need to wash the condenser on the back side not the exhaust side . Wake up buddy

Coil cleaning generally is a waste of time. This one is not dirty and you'll just make a mess. Poor advice and don't pay for this
